Is it possible to upgrade the fobs? would it be difficult to reprogram it?

Hi although many after market alarms can have key fobs added / changed or deleted by the end user, most of the manufacturer standard fit ones that I have come across are programmed to the vehicles and require specialist programming usually by the dealers or a specially equiped autoelectrician. This means if you lose the remote key or fob or require any extras they it usually ends up quite costly. If you have a broken remote it is often worth trying to repair them, although sometimes remotes just lose their sync to the alarm, in which case sometimes they will re-sync, often just by pressing the remote buttons several times in a row in quick succession, but obviously this will depend on the make and model of vehicle as manufacturers sometimes have different methods of re-syncing a remote. Have exactly the same key but after the battery change the key wont work, others have said about re-syncing it to the car? know anything about that?

Hi in my 2011 van manual (same in my 2014 astra j manual) it says After replacing battery, unlock the driver's door lock. The remote will be synchronised when you switch on the ignition. So it's supposed to pick up the signal from the chip in the key at the ignition. I hope you can get it to work.

Did you have to reprogram the key? I followed the steps and changed the battery within a minute however the central locking using the key doesn't work anymore.

No I just did a stright swap. I am not sure of the process to re-cync the combo van key that I have in the video but if it's like my Astra you just unlock the drivers door using the key, then when you use it in the ignition the key gets re-synced, after that it works on the button again like normal. try it & let me know, thanks.
