I have been doing most of what you suggested except the exercise. In 45 days, my BG has went from 180-200+ down to 117-135. This is eating less than 20G Carbs daily (sometimes none), mostly protein, high (good) Fat, Intermittent Fasting 16/8 and using Apple Cider Vinegar. I have stopped snacking and eat twice daily, sometimes only once depending on my schedule. Thanks so much for what you do.

@Winnie-26093 жыл бұрын
1. Track your blood sugars, 10 mins before you eat, 10 mins after you eat, 30 mins after, 2 hours after you eat. 2. BE SMART WITH CARBS. less than 50gm per day. Or less than 20g per day. Exercise if you eat carbs, eat at the end of meal, eat protein and nonstarchy veg first, carbs last. 3. Do the Exercise right. Use resistance training rather than cardio. Lift weights or squats, push ups etc reps over 20 mins.
@randomcommenter935 Жыл бұрын
My 1, 2, 3 ... 1- Drop carbs to near zero (over time). Exception: non-starchy vegetables (if you like them, eat them) OVER TIME If you eat a lot of carbs now, drop to 100 carb grams or fewer today and do this for 5 days. On day 6, drop to 75 carb grams or fewer for 4 days. On day 10, drop to 50 carb grams or fewer for 3 days. On day 13, drop to 30 carb grams for a week. Weigh yourself ... decide if you can keep this up 2- Go sugar free and sugar substitutes free - over time First, ditch foods with sugars (primarily junk food). If you NEED sugar to get through this stage, use pure stevia. Ditch all laboratory created sugar substitutes. Use pure organic stevia. 3- Stop snacking altogether. Eat 2 meals (or one) daily, seated, fully chewing, and not rushing. If you must have your snack (nuts, cheese stick, hard boiled egg, etc.) eat that as part of your meal at the end - not while watching TV. Bonus: If you have gut issues, drink 30 minutes before or after your meal, but not while eating. Fluid while eating dilutes your stomach acid. That acid needs to remain strong to fully digest your food properly.

I do mild cardio (30-50 minutes, depending on my schedule, with 90% of that time in my target heart range!). Feeling like I'm 50 again! I'm hoping by Spring2022 to feel like I'm 40 again - I weighed about 230lbs then. After that, who knows?! I do Supplementation as well to treat my diabetes and some other conditions. I'm 23 years old, just got my reports done and found out that I've pcos and my insulin is as high as a woman who is entering her menopause stage. My gynaec told me to take metformin for at least 3 months and also added that maybe I'll have to take the medicine for 1 and a half years. In her words, I shouldn't be hoping that my insulin resistance will reduce any time soon. I just saw your video on metformin side effects and I'm a bit scared. But this video solved a few of my confusions and I'm confident that I'll be able to get my insulin balanced, without relying too much on medicines. Thank you 🥺

35 years ago I learned about the two major points of this video, making sure you dont eat carbs alone and building muscle for fat loss instead of doing cardio. After all this time FINALLY someone has said it in a public forum where other people can learn this. Walking is wweird though, waking along a sidewalk is cardio, hiking up a mountain and scrambling over rocks resistance. I've seen a few people saying, "But I walk 6 miles every day and am still not losing fat!" yet I go on a 2 mile hike 3 times a weak and lose many inches off my stomach/waist. Walking on flat ground is a cardio workout, you aren't building muscle after the first few times you do it. I am surprised a lot of the big YT'ers that are huge 'low-carb' proponents dont touch on mixing carbs with fat and protein, and instead just say "no carbs." As Kait even says here, you can keep your blood glucose in the healthy range even with some carbs, especially if you stick with complex carbs like whole grains instead of simple carbs like sugar, white flour and white rice.

Love how you have done the research and then simplified the advice for the masses. The only other big tip which you have discussed in prior videos is to shorten your window for consumption of food each day. The problem with many youtube videos is that they are generic if giving advice as not everyone's case is the same. And not all blanket suggestions will be good for everyone. The problem with my friends non-diabetic postprandial reactive hypoglycemia is that it seems he gets such low blood sugar no matter what he eats. Even the surgeon who was going to operate on his pancreas says his case is too complicated for him to do that. No one seems to be able to help him in the State he lives in. He is a very active young man and it is just a shame that no one seems to be able to help him. His slow GI could be a contributor though since bypassing his GI in hospital his blood sugars were more stable.

Very informative video! I was diagnosed with pcos when I was 20 or 21; at that time, a lot was going on, and I had no idea about any of it. I used to have very regular cycles ( 28 days, every month like clockwork), then after having to get my own housing, I was very stressed and suddenly couldn't afford food! So I went from having access to food at any time, to having no or very little money. I suddenly had to budget my food and I was only eating a little bit of food, maybe once or twice a day, well below the recommended daily calorie intake. During this time, I noticed a lot of things happening all at once: I was less emotionally stable (I guess practically starving will do that), I gained weight because what little I could afford had no real nutritional value, and I had no energy to exercise, let alone do anything else. My periods wound up becoming so irregular, it was really scary; at that point it was only happening once maybe twice in any given year. Well a little less than 2 years ago, I managed to get my calorie intake up and my periods are much more regular than they've been in almost 20 years! NOW, I'm having a hard time getting my weight down to 250, which is only a 25 pound difference and it seems like regardless of what I do, the weight won't come off. Starving myself won't help (that happened for 17 years and I only gained weight).

Throughout my life I lost a lot of weight couple of times, and what I found out is that if I follow, what I did before and it worked before BUT if my stress levels are high - I stop loosing weight immediately and can stay like that for as many days as I am in stress. If stress level in your life is high - it will be very difficult to loose any weight no matter, what you do, even if you are starving. Another tip - because you've been eating little calories for so long, your body is trying to hang onto whatever calories it can get, as it worries if you are trying to kill yourself by starving, so it's trying to survive. So, to overcome this - start eating small portions (200-250g) every couple of hours every day at EXACTLY the same times. This is very important. Body needs to learn that it's getting food supply regularly, so that it can stop storing every calorie it gets. Once your body learns that ( it can take up to 1-2 weeks and also at that time you will not lose anything, so that's normal) then you will start loosing weight fast. Third tip - try sleeping as much as you can ( forget this 6am wake up, unless you really need to eg because of work) and try to get 8-9 and even 10 hours of sleep per night. The longer you sleep - the more you loose. Also, what was helping me out was exercising first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, every single day. I did bodyflex (the old Greer Childers tapes) and it worked really fast for me. First week I'd exercise 2 times per day, as she advices, to jump start the metabolism, and afterwards I'd just do once a day in the morning. If you combine all those, you'll lose weight very quickly and also will tone up your body into a nice shape.

Strength training does improve insulin sensitivity, however, multiple studies have shown significant benefits of aerobic exercise on insulin sensitivity in all types of populations (e.g, obese men, women, healthy adults). Also, it has been shown, on further studies, that combining aerobic exercise and strength training is more effective than any of them alone. Therefore, the thumbnail picture that advises the woman to stop running helps spread disinformation about aerobic exercise, in spite of its proven efficacy, alone and combined, in reducing insulin resistance.

Now I have learned that the BP med doctor gave me to protect heart is a med (HCTZ) that also increases insulin resistance. I have asked for either a new med or to get off the med altogether. In the meantime, what else can I do. I eat keto under 20 gr carbs regularly, and do intermittent fasting. I am a teacher and constantly moving in the classroom. A1c is higher at 6.2 than I think it should be based on what I am doing to control it

If you have type 2 diabetes, you need to cut carbs. Period. There is no reason to take carbs in through your mouth. The body will make the sugar it needs in the liver through a process called gluconeogenis. Carbs in green vegetables get a pass since it’s in the dietary fiber and you won’t absorb them. We don’t have the digestive system of a cow. Keep your diet high fat and moderate protein and practice intermittent fasting. The narrower the eating window, the better. Get your body fat adapted.(burning fat for fuel) This does take some time. She’s right that insulin resistance isn’t tested much in the medical community despite it being a common problem. No money in healthy people. Dr. Robert Cywes has a KZbin channel that explains the ins and outs on this very problem.

This. I prepare meals for my diabetic father and it restrictive to mostly protein, fats some vegetables and an eating/fasting window. It's depressing but we all may need to eventually adapt to this.

Having recently been diagnosed with pre-diebeties and having signs of narapathy, I did some research and discovered that I need to slow down digesting my food. I found that Parmesan cheese actually takes a really long time to digest and this has stopped my narapathy. Just a small amount after I eat seems to do the trick. I do a teaspoon with my meals.

I was diagnosed with PCOS when we were trying to conceive. My condition is pretty mild, in comparison to others with PCOS. I’ve been eating higher protein and lower carb over the past two weeks and here’s what I’ve found: I’m on 1500 mg Metformin. If I eat bread, any sweets or fruit juices, I get tummy troubles. I’ve been eating eggs, avocados, romaine salads, fresh fruit (an apple or a peach, and only one). I’ve cut pasta, bread, all sweets. Although I’m not as hungry after a protein rich meal, my body is having an awful time in the restroom. What’s that about?? I have lost about 3 pounds, but I worry that it’s all water and waste, not true weight. How can I get rid of the restroom issues? Am I on too much Metformin? I have an appointment with my Endo next month. I’m hoping for some relief! Thank you for this video.

My husband had this you may need to go get your Metformin dose lowered.
@nyz8443 жыл бұрын
Metformin is known to have side effects that mess up your digestive system...it is also routine to start with 500 mg per day for a week...then increase to 1000mg the second week...so that finally in the third week you can do 1500 mg and go on with that dose...starting off with the maximum dosage is unusual to say the least
@Ripplesinthewaters3 жыл бұрын
@@nyz844 I didn't start off this way. I've been on Metformin for 14 years. I did begin at 500, then 1,000 for many, many years. My new endo just increased it to 1,500 due to my labs being completely wacky in June. We are meeting again soon to discuss this. :)

I would still incorporate cardio into your exercise regimen if you want to reduce IR. Namely for the cardiovascular benefits-- maybe incorporating circuit training so you are building some muscle mass while keeping your heart rate up.

Hello ! I really like your videos and this one in particular, you are so enthusiastic and clear in your messages! Regarding the three points: The first: I'm a bit of a minimalist and don't want to buy an electronic blood glucose meter. The second: I have been eating almost no carbs for the past two months, however for some time now strangely my digestion is not perfect without a little rice, my sleep is not at its best either! too much energy? is my body under stress? anyway I feel the need to eat a little carbohydrate and your idea of permanently combining them with fat is really great and not starting the meal with carbs is very relevant too! Thank you it works! As for exercising right after a meal, I can't I'm too tired from digesting my two daily meals! Finally the third advice is the best for me I think, I practice a lot cycling and walking almost every day, however I'm tall and thin and not very muscular, actually gaining muscle would probably allow me to lower my insulin resistance! For a few days now I have been cycling up hills and practicing on fitness machines in the park next to my house, I hope that this will improve my health. Thanks again for your advice!

Also struggling with sleeping while doing Keto/carnivore. Not sure if I should cut exercise completely, I’m not even doing anything that hectic. So needless to say every couple of days I’m forced to add carbs back. Maybe my body feels it’s is underfed and stressed😭😭😭. Still have a bit of belly fat to get rid of. So confused but will keep trying

I would add make sure you use a reliable glucose meter. I bought one and had crazy numbers then checked it against the hospital grade one at work and the hospital one was way more consistent.

Hello. Great information. I saw another video where if the carb, like rice, pasta is cooked, then cooled, it changes 30-40% fiber, lowers GI. True?
