He's such a sweet kid. He's strong to keep his courage up and keeping a smile on his face given the circumstances. He's clever to keep the channel going and to collaborate like this. He's mature and respectable for actually listening and taking it seriously when you tell him how to squat or anything else.

It's great to see that Alexander and his brother have great people like Dave in their corner to continue to mentor them. This is what lifting is really all about in my eyes: the brotherhood. Getting strong in the gym physically and mentally so we can be strong for others, and be an example that lifts others up to reach new potential.

I love seeing this! Hey Alexander, follow your own path. You dont have to do this for anyone. Not for us, not for your dad (God rest his soul), but only for yourself. If you do choose this path, you have it in your blood to be great, and we will be here to support you. You have an amazing attitude, just like your father. I wish you all the best, and if it happens to be the path of weightlifting, that's great. Just know that your dad only wants you to be happy, whatever you choose. God bless you young man!

This is very touching. I am fortunate to have an amazing dad who sacrificed a lot to raise me with respect and a solid work ethic. I think a lot of men these days are in a crisis without father figures. John will be missed by all of us who learned so much from him. Inside and outside the gym. Seeing Dave work with the young man is really great. It’s awesome to see Dave step up to help during this difficult time. I’m not into powerlifting at all, but I just felt compelled to say thanks for your content when working with John and for being there for the young man. Rest In Peace, John!

My son is about this age and I really want to get him in the gym with me because all he works out right now are his thumbs. I swear, the boy is nearly hunchbacked from looking down at a screen so much. We're gonna fix that soon. I want him to be confident in himself and his body. I'm still working on it myself and I want us to do it together. He has to be 13 to come to the gym I go to and I can't wait for him to get there. I'm trying to set a good example for him right now.

Yeah get him a weight set and teach him basic exercises, correct form etc. Bodyweight stuff and some free weight exercises are plenty for his age. No need for anything extravagant, show him how he can train and use his time productively while still having fun.

as his dad you have the power to take that shit away. get rid of the whole console. i played computer games 8hrs a day as a pre-adolescent/adolescent and let me tell you it completely destroyed any sense of self confidence and worth i had. the gym gave it all back years later but i wish i could have that time back. just a thought.
