Thank you for sharing ,please after the cumbcoat,have you kept the cake in the fridge before covering it with the fondant?
@JoyousCakesandMore5 ай бұрын
No, please, putting in fridge will make the fondant to sweat which we don't want. To avoid it drying up after crumb coating, you can cover with a water proof. Or sprinkle a little water round the crumb coating before covering with fondant. This will make the fondant to stick on the crumbcoated cake. Thank you so much for watching 💐💐💐

Sure! Here you go: In an iron bowl (silver) add in half cup of water Add 1 and half tablespoon of gelatin into the water Allow to rest and proof for at least 5 minutes While it is proofing, Get : Icing sugar 1kg and 500g icing sugar (sift into a bowl) Add 1 teaspoon into the sifted icing sugar and mix to combine set it aside. Put your pot on fire add water then put the bowl of proven gelatin into the hot water and keep stiring until the gelatin melts halfway make sure the hot water doesn't enter the gelatin oh. Next add on half cup of glucose into the gelatin continue stirring until the gelatin and glucose completely melts and becomes liquid. Allow to cook a little and while still warm, add it into the icing sugar and CMC mixture and mix and when it has come together, pour on to your neat and dry surface and knead until it is smooth. Rub vegetable oil or vegetable shortening on it- not too much oh wrap in nylon or cling film, leave to rest for 24 hours and use. Hope this helps, this is what I have been using for years and it always serves me. I am here to clarify anything in case you still have questions. Thanks for watching.

@JoyousCakesandMore4 ай бұрын
Butter based holds better under fondant. However, you can also use oil based cakes too, although most times it depends on the recipe. I will advise you use fondant cake at the base if using oil based cakes. Hope this is useful? I appreciate your watching this video. (Pardon my not responding on time- been so busy)

I'm trying to understand something; when you flip the cake upside down, it comes off the board? Eventhough you used glucose? 2. How come you haven't used any dowels and cake board in between for a 4 layer cake?!
@JoyousCakesandMore5 ай бұрын
Hi Lady Phiri, glad to have you on my channel! Now to answer your questions: if you watch the video start to end, you would see that 1. It was after I had already covered the cake with fondant using draping method on ANOTHER BOARD that I applied glucose on the main board I am using to deliver the cake and after ensuring it is well stuck, I flipped it (transferrin it from the non sticky board to the main stick board.) 2. I inserted dowels and skewers after stacking and covering the down layer with fondant... I also inserted a longer dowel as a central dowel.... In place of a board, I improvised by using a carton wrapped in cling film. Note that all the explanation is in the video, perhaps you have to watch it again alongside my explanation. It's thrilling having you here.❤💐💐💐💐💐💐
@ladyphiri5 ай бұрын
@@JoyousCakesandMore had to rewatch😅. So if it was just the big cake on its own, would you still put the dowels at the end of decorating and not the beginning (after stacking and crumbcoating)? If so, what would you do with the holes on top🤔
@JoyousCakesandMore4 ай бұрын
No, I won't do that, I would definitely put the dowels as I stack, crumbcoat before finally covering with fondant. If however I happen to forget (e dey happen sometimes 😂) I will cover the holes with this sugar balls (pearls) I will make sure the sugar balls match the colour of the fondant. Sorry for the late response, I just came across it today. Thanks so much for watching.

Hello Ifeoluwa! Thanks for engaging on my video💐 I used vegetable shortening sometimes called crisco to clean the fondant. If I understand your 2nd question well, I used glucose on top of the big cake to hold the small one on top. Royal Icing can also be used or buttercream. But now, I honestly enjoy using glucose, it holds the cake well. Do have a pleasant day.

Why do my fondant fall when been transported 😢😢,,,it gets out from the cake
@JoyousCakesandMoreАй бұрын
*So sorry about that. It could be due to so many factors: 1. The fondant recipe might not be good. (U can watch my fondant recipe video for d recipe I use for all my fondant decoratings) 2. Always check your crumb coated cake for dryness before covering it, if it is dry, sprinkle water lightly before covering with your fondant, so the moisture holds the fondant to your cake, then smoothen it very well with your fondant smoother. 3. Always make sure your cake is totally and completely cold (not hot or warm) before crumb coating and covering with fondant. Check out these 3 reasons and cross-check your steps, to see where you are at fault. I hope this helps. Thanks for checking in* Here's the link to the fondant video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqmrZJmMnr2leNk

Get a bowl that can withstand heat and pour the water into the clean bowl. Sprinkle the gelatin into the water, allow it to sit (prove) for 5 minutes. Put the proven gelatin in the bowl into hot water( be careful not to allow the water enter oh) stir for a minute. Next add the glucose into the gelatin mixture ad stir until everything is combined and well melted. Bring out from the hot water and allow to cool for 2 minutes Pour into the icing sugar and mix (I use my clean hands without rings 💍 pls) Pour into a clean surface and continue kneading until it becomes stretchy. @JoyousCakesandMore4 ай бұрын
Okay Mary. But I want to assure you that it's okay to use gas or even stove. Most bakers started up with charcoal stove, gas stove and kerosene stove. I personally have baked some cakes using a large empty pot and the cakes came out great. You have to be mindful of not over heating to prevent burnt cakes. Just take a risk and start with a small batch of flour ingredients first, and before u know it, you will learn from your first mistakes and become a pro. If there's any way I can help, pls let me know.

What's the meaning of fondant
@JoyousCakesandMore7 ай бұрын
Fondant is a type of icing that is used for decorating cakes, it is flexible when it comes to covering cakes and making beautiful designs on the cake. it is made by combining and kneading icing sugar, melted gelatin, CMC, water and glucose, afterwards, it is allowed to rest for 12 to 24 hours for better output. It is often tainted with preferred edible food colours. It hardens well and can last for days and even months in the right weather conditions. Lemme catch my breath😁 I hope you got one or two things about fondant from the above. Thank you for stopping by, I hope you stay and keep in touch😁😆💐💐💐💐
