Hey Jason, New sub, really appreciate the work you do to help the rest of us out. Request: can you do a video about your opinion of starting out as a sole proprietor vs LLC for a solo operator?
@lawncarelife

The advantage of an LLC is it helps protect your personal assets from your business assets. I would go ahead an form an LLC as soon as possible.

He has a very interesting video about this. Let me see if I can link it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKSVmqKFmLuAhaM If the link doesn't work, go to his main page here on KZbin and type LLC in the search box and it's the first video that pops up :)

Thanks for the helpful video! Looking to start soon and your videos have been extremely helpful (and entertaining!). I do have a request if you ever need a video idea: Quoting new customers. This is something I've searched out but haven't found just what I'm looking for. I'd love to see a start to finish quote process done (even if it's just a mock/pretend one). Once the potential client makes contact and we set up a time to go out and look at the property - from there until you start servicing them weekly. For example - do you use a checklist so you make sure to go over everything with them and do you give them any type of paper/handout when they "sign up" to begin services with you so they know important things (like removing dog waste, or what if it rains, payment methods, their service day, etc.) I've got the pricing down, just trying to figure out all the "little" things like this and back-office type things seems to be where I'm stuck at now.

So much helpful information in this video. Is there any companies you recommend for logo design. I have the name I want to go with and I would like a great logo to go with it. I don’t just want to stick a name on a t-shirt, truck and trailer. Not being mean but most of the companies in my area look like bums, dirty clothes, equipment and trucks. I want to catch the customers eye, I want to look professional to match the quality and pride I take in my work. I’m starting out this spring part time and by 2024 the plan is to go full time.

Hi Jason, About to try to start my lawn care business in northern GA. Maybe a little late this year so mainly just getting what I can right now and hopefully be established from day one ready to go next season. I’m soaking up info off of all the major lawn care KZbin channels. Planning on being a solo operator. My question is, do you think you can make good money only mowing and trimming and with a few property cleanups or do you think it’s pretty much mandatory to expect to need to branch out into fert, weed control, etc…? Thanks and I’m subscribed I love how straight shooting you are with your advice!

You can make decent money mowing solo. It's hard work and I would recommend expanding sooner than later

Does your fert business academy show the breakdown of the financials? That’s where I’m personally struggling to really figure out what I need to charge per lawn or 1000sq ft. Looking for help here.

No, that's not a topic I cover. Typically, my fertilizer and chemical cost add up to about 20% of my annual revenue

Just finished my first season of starting a side lawn care service. Used my personal Toro MyRide 50” zero turn and a few used Marketplace mowers & weed whips(under $500 total). Had a lot of fun and made a decent profit doing it one day a week. Definitely not quitting my day job in healthcare but provides great relaxation and extra money for the family plus I get to work with my son, paying him $15/hr.

Do you have customers sign contracts or is it week to week?
@robertpoindexter8616

That’s what I’m going through right now. And if they do sign a contract does it really mean anything? They could simply just stop paying you then of course you would stop mowing. Good question hopefully someone has an answer
