I'm understand the language. What they're saying is that since you're psysicslly strong you're being able to get away with some lapses in the technique. He recommends you keep your head in front of your center of gravity (that would be the line going across your hips (laterally). By looking down the entire time you will be in that position through the movement. Great to see you getting out and visiting these guys. There's a world of knowledge in places where the art has been passed down for ages.

At the end he (Pehlwan Foni) was saying that since now Gada is heavy, ur neck is automatically looking at the ground and this is how it should be all the time no matter if its lighter weight or heavier
@TheFlowingDutchman4 жыл бұрын
Acha, yes Pratyay told me this too. Very interesting if you want to go very big weights, but not really applicable to the mace.
@hiiithr63884 жыл бұрын
He is saying .... “ now that the weight isn’t heavy you won’t realise the correct form however once you lift a heavy one you would understand. As a best practice you need to keep ur head down at all times” Happy lifting 🙏
@RiyaSingh-pj6bc4 жыл бұрын
@@TheFlowingDutchman Actually the advice is equivalent to the good forms in the gym. No matter how light the weight is you always maintain a good form. The reason you keep your head low is to prevent sudden cramping and maintain the balance. You get dizzy when you start looking up while swinging the equipment. Also, the "Gada" was inspired from a hammer and you hit things on the ground with hammer. So you need to focus on your target on the ground because you can't hit something in the sky with the hammer, right? Also, since the centre of gravity is lower with this specific equipment and you are swinging behind you, always look forward and down to the maintain your body balance. Once you look up your balance shift backwards and you are likely to fall on your back. Another thing which everyone ignore about this specific thing. It was used in the war. A war when there were no guns and swords were rarely used. Your skills are not dependent on how heavy you can lift. It was dependent on how heavy you can swing with proper balance and how much force you can execute to hit your target. Lifting heavy and not being able to hit someone with it is useless.

good to see you there mate ! let me translate a few Hindi words for you, they are really from the mouth of of an experienced man - The coach says teech him that with mace , you have to swing your neck too, that way it will be easy, and can lift more weight. The visitor has good power, with smaller mace, he will not understand, what does it it mean ( just like the hair of a dick - it is a slang , means nothing) :) ha ha, any way, .. after the visitor lifts heavyier one , the guru says, .. watch with heavy mace, he is turning his head differently, rather than with the lighter one. however the mace is not touching shoulder, and it is 50% with a heavier one, it will automatically touch the shoulder. Thanks,Pahalwan ji ( Deepak Ansuia Prasad Bhardwaj)

I don't know if there is some content online about this topic. If so, I apologize There is a detail I just noticed when Foni Pehalwan is swinging the Mace. It looks like he is straightening one leg alternating when swinging. When he swings clockwise, he straightens his left knee/leg, when he is swinging counter clockwise, it's his right leg straightening. But it is just at the end of the pull to the front. Its just a guess, that hes doing it, because he is used to move very heavy maces. But I just experimented with my leg movement during workout and noticed something interesting. Usually I stand with my knees almost straight. Just unlocked so that the muscles can work and you stand firm but somehow flexible, like The Flowing Dutchman Stand. ;) Then I tried to "lock" my knees like Foni Pehalwan in the end of the "front pull". And man...it generates some power! It's not even the locking of the knees, but the unlocking when starting to swing. It feels like a small dip, which really increases power! It almost feels like the dip/bounce in a deep squat or the dip initiating the jerk in Olympic weightlifting. You start to swing, slightly bend the knee, tiny dip down, and when the mace passes its lowest point, you start pushing with your leg to straighten it again, oppsite side. Looks like he is leaning alternating to one side 'excessively'. Perhaps this could be interesting for very heavy mace swinging! It feels very stable, secure and hugely powerful! Imagine a 'boom' (in the sense of tightening up the body when straightening the leg, and then releasing and heading to the next BOOM on the oppsite side). Great feeling! Hope you guys understand what I meant to explain here. :) Keep up the good work! I really enjoy your channel and youtube content. Love to all

Posture nut checking in here, i suppose this is 3y after the fact and you likely already know this, but i think the encouragement to look downward is to help align the upper and mid spine to allow for more full engagement of the core. Like trying to push something forward with ones chin vs the top of ones head (with feet planted), chin tucked provides for a much longer lever arm.
