Great video. These machines were sold by Aldi in the UK as "so crafty". They are rebadged Janome machines. As you say these are excellent for the occasional users and for beginners and represent fantastic value for money. However, for anything serious I would buy a proper machine .

Thank you! I got this machine from a friend and always wanted to learn how to sew, but my mom is in another country. You made it really easy.

Any age is a good age to start sewing Charlotte. I didn't start until I was well over 50 and that was despite my mother being a professional dressmaker.

Thank you Julie. I’ve been sewing for awhile. Not lots, but this machine I have now is my second one. ( I should never have given away my first it was made so much better then this one, I should have taken it in to get it cleaned and serviced. I sewed many furry teddy bears on that machine!) I guess I always sewed crafts never clothes. I watched one of these types of videos, and learned that my tensioner was to tight, it’s like two pieces of a thin metal that the thread goes between. Somehow it had gotten moved and it would just break my thread. So frustrating! So these videos are very very helpful! Thank you Julie! I hope you have a wonderful day!

My mother was a dressmaker and I never used a sewing machine until I was in my 30's and never for clothing.

Helpful vid. I got a sewing machine a year ago but could not work out how to thread it even with the manual that I never used it. I have sewn so many things today because of your vid.

Hello Julie, thanks for the video. I am trying to learn how to sew, and I have the Stirling model MD17329, so I'm just about to try threading it up. It looks very similar to the model you have. Thanks again for the video. :)
@juliethornton Жыл бұрын
Hopefully it will help with the threading as it isn't as simple as some other machines I have used in the past....particularly the bobbin but I am sure you will work it out and good luck on your sewing journey.

@juliethornton Hello Julie, your video helped alot. I managed to thread the bobbin, do the upper and lower threading, and sew too. It took me a while, but I got there. :) My sewing isn't straight lines, but almost. Thanks again. :)

Thank you I’ve been gifted this machine by a friend whose mother passed. I haven’t sewn since a teen and it came with no manual so I was worried about threading it. What is the half circle button type thing at the right side of the machine?
@juliethornton5 ай бұрын
I don't have mine in front of me but I think it is the reverse button. Here is a link to the manual for this machine..... www.manualslib.com/manual/1815192/Aldi-Stirling-Black-Edition-Md-17329.html#manual

@@juliethornton yes. You are correct. Do we need to reverse stitch when sewing the first few stitches? I’ve never done this before while sewing?
@juliethornton5 ай бұрын
@@bari2883 You also normally reverse stitch when you finish sewing to lock everything in

Hi I have the same machine and I’m not sure how to thread the bobbin with the machine, I’m not sure how to disengage the needle, would love some advice
@juliethornton3 жыл бұрын
Hi Elouise. Do you have an instruction manual for the machine? It is definitely not like threading any other bobbin. Do you mean winding thread on the bobbin or putting the full bobbin in place and then sewing? Feel free to email me at clancyscooter@gmail.com if you need to ask more. Thanks Julie

Hi Vicky. I don't know how to get a PDF of the manual as I have the manual that came with my machine but if you google the machine and model number it may come up with the a pdf for you. Thanks for the comment.
