Very, very helpful -- thank you so much!! The manual tells you to pass the thread through the right side of the thread guide (spring-loaded horizontal tab above the needle area); however, it seems as though it would maintain the same tension either way. Why would it matter -- other than Juki's instructions say so.

I am new to all this and had trouble with that tension spring on the DNU1541 but finally got the thing threaded (and I only have one eye). Now for the bobbin that to me should have been done first. I only have one spool of thread so am going to pull all the thread out so I can wind the bobbin. Then re thread the machine. I betcha I don't have the spring adjusted right bit the engineer in me just had to mess with that knob not knowing you weren't supposed to mess with it. Thanks Juki😢

Does the presser foot need to be up when threading the machine? It is a little hard to thread the needle when the presser foot is up. Thank you for your clear instructions.

It doesnt need to be up when you floss the thread through the disks. Or leave the foot up till you get to the needle then put it down :)

Excellent vid as usual. My bobbin simply slips as the winder is trying to wind. Sometimes it catches, but mostly slips. I tried adjusting tension on the disks to no avail!

Do you plan to do a series on the 1341 cylinder arm? I'd love to see that. Also, I'd love a video on replacing the bobbin winder on this machine and the 1341. There are videos I've seen for replacing them on machines like the 1181N but none on machines like this.

We will do a video soon. Turn the knobs clockwise to tighten and counter clock wise to loosen. Typically you can just run the thread through the top holes one extra time and that will tighten your tension without even touching the tension knobs :)

The videos are so helpful when you can't get in store for a demonstration or lesson!! Can you please do a video showing which Presser feet work with this machine and what they do also?? The zipper feet are a little confusing and also someone talked about a narrow foot for this machine but it seems to be very hard to obtain. Do you have any suggestions on where to purchase presser feet and in particular the narrow walking foot that is even smaller than the one the machine comes with?? Thanks!!!

On 11:57 it looks like you missed threading through the needle arm guide?? Good video. The manual that comes with the machine is lacking in many of these areas. It does not show coming back through the guide when filling a bobbin nor the use of the thread cutter. It also does not clearly show threading the guide left of the tensioning guide before going down to the needle arm. They missed the trick on adjusting the tension on the bobbin by suspending it as well. I have been sewing on my Juki 1541S for nine years doing boat canvas work and did not know these things! Living in a remote town with no access to a Juki dealer for hands on demonstration I ordered my machine from California (I am in SE Alaska) thus if it isn't clearly presented in the manual and isn't apparent (although I have been sewing for twenty five years, not professionally, my previous machines were of course threaded in different ways) then I missed it. Another very useful item the manual did not present was the divots in the flywheel to line up the bobbin cage. I have had to trial and error coming to the conclusion that the needle in the up position worked best. Now I have a mark to set up. I always wondered why that small access hatch to the bobbin cage was put in the sewing platen as I have had to get up and go around the machine to insert it from the underside and the back as the oil pan blocks access from the front. The only use I could see was a visual cue through the hatch but it quickly becomes a procedure done by feel. Always felt weird that you had to move from the operators position to put in a bobbin. Especially so as I use a very large ''L" shaped table for large boat top work. I also never saw mention (and I also have a full shop manual as well as the owners manual for the machine) that you could wind a bobbin while sewing. Thought that might be possible but was unwilling to try it without it being an approved method. It is a long and expensive way to a repair shop from here! That is a very helpful bit of knowledge. Thank you for a practical, helpful video.

Question: I bought an older 1541. When threading, I don't seem to have what you called the needle bar -- there's no hole to go down through before I actually thread the needle. But the stitches seem fine. Maybe my machine predates the needle bar, or is this something I can order from Juki Junkies? Great video. Thanks.

Hi! I set up a new Juki 1541S and while winding the bobbin the motor seemed to take over and go way too FAST - I took my foot off the pedal and it kept going. HELP! It also started making a grinding noise. I turned it off, unplugged, and when I turned it back on it started automatically flying again. Eventually it stopped and now the machine doesn’t turn on 😩 What do you think happened here? I can’t find a fix for this anywhere, but am assuming I missed something in the setup. Thanks for any help!
