Amazing, this is the exact sewing machine I use. 1938 Singer. I inherited it 40+ years ago. I clean and oil it myself. Yes, with this machine you can sew over pins. Elaine Lockett is a super quilter. You make it appear so easy. Thanks for sharing all those tips. We never stop learning. I have been making quilts for at least 50 years now. Always learning.

My grandmother called this tacking a quilt. I don't know why. I learned a super helpful tip on threading my tapestey needle for my crochet. I never knew there waa a deep side to the needle and her little tape trick will save me a lot of grief. I am soon to tie my first tied quilt and I feel this video is all I need. I know this video has been up for a while, but I just found it. And it brought tears to my eyes to see someone making a quilt with the same technique and same kind of frame that my father built for my mother and grandmother. So many years ago but I remember it so clearly. They have all passed away now. I am so happy to see a memory from my childhood. Thank you.

I agree this was SOOO much more straight forward than the other videos. I think it's a generational thing. Folks like my grandma and this young lady speak simply, and to the point. I really appreciate this immensely!! There is a lot of history in these techniques, it's as American as you get!

Wonderful sewing machine, it sews a steady seam with just a tug on the back of the fabric...and, she can sew right over those big yellow quilting pins. Talented lady, thank you so much for gifting us with your talent.

Absolutely enjoyed this video. I learned a lot and love her sweet way of teaching. I loved how she noticed little ones will put themselves to sleep twirling the ties. I remember that from my own childhood. Sweetest quilt tying video award!

Love that you are still sewing on your first/old favorite machine. Usually see machines I could never afford to own. Mine is a Pfaff 1471 I bought used in the early 90's. It was a tremendous splurge then.
