How to use Dáin [Deep Dive] | LOTR - Rise to War

I finally get to do a Guide about my favorite LOTR Commander - Dáin Ironfoot 🍻 He is a commander who is very sensitive to his Skill Order, so take care of that first! I have tested 3 builds and I'm going to share what I found out in this video, have fun!

I think it's worth mentioning that Dain also has a Hybrid build (r3+) for the players who don't have him at r5+. Full r3 and bottom r0 also gives amazing reports, BUT the downside is that it's only viable in erebor (due to the t4 unit) or with neutral dwarven t4 given that they have exploit weakness and dain has build in stun (I would run a bone mask with madness as well though to prock the exploit weakness skill more often). This Dain build has done very well for me in my f2p account

Love the video! You'd be shocked at my Dain build. It mirrors much of what you were referencing. I think I will trade in my Hammer of Moria - Lethal Weapon for the Axe of Khazud-dum with Cleave myself. The numbers just look so much better than Lethal Weapon.

I might be wrong but I believe the % defense ignoring from rend and his ability long beard (?) do not work together so may not be efficient. Dain or Gimli, which do you prefer?

Thank you for showing the skill order of Dain. Do you think Gigantic Hammer with Rend or Frenzy would be better for him?

I would go with Frenzy, since his units aren't the main source of his damage.

Giant hammer is for buffing physical army damage (rend) or increasing damage dealer damage who have on-hit effects like Dwalin/Gimli do. Dain just wants damage.

Moria hammsr has 31 atk 25% proc and 60% dmg = 465 % average dmg. While the axe has 10 atk 50% proc and 240% = 1200% average dmg. To be short. hammer only has 3 time atk but axe has 4 time dmg and 2 time chance.

I might be wrong but I believe lethal weapon can buff the damage of abilities too making these figures incorrect.

My question is. Does lethal weapon give that percentage of damage of a normal attack or will it do 60% of the damage of All-in(if that procs)????

@@FollowAzra have you tested this? I believe it is up to 60% of the skill damage. I have it refined to 30% and it appears to be a lot more than 30% of a normal attack which would just be say 2-3k extra damage

You don’t put points in Ironfoot line if using dwarven grit! Takes away the buff on All In which is the only reason to go for Grit, max R3, R5 and rest in Lord of the Iron Hills.

Dwarven Grit only buffs the first 4 com ability damages so you want R3&R5 trees only so it triggers on; 1. King, 2. Whirlwind, 3. King, 4. All In. If you skill into Ironfoot it takes 1-2 ticks away and leaves no tick for All In.

By taking all in first you guarantee a dwarven grit proc on it. You cast round 1- ironfoot, round 2- king under the mountain, round 3- whirlwind, round 4- all-in (4th dwarven grit proc),ironfoot, heavily wounded, king under the mountain. You just take skills in this order all in, ironfoot, heavily wounded whirlwind, king under the mountain

-Theory for low respect kirun. But with his evil alliance for orcs and evil men, isn't it better to use orcs until r5? Consider the skill "sand soldier" to heal 80% every time your unit causes damage. With orc archers, this is a no brainer. They have a 100% chance to attack and use the poison skill Cunning. 90% chance for follow up and an additional cunning. So in essence couldn't a single stack of arbalests deal high dps AND has a guaranteed double heal but 90% chance to heal 4x each round for 320% healing almost every time?

Also consider that you can use trapper hood on kirun but not the other orc commanders. +3 attack goes a long way on a troop with 90% follow up. Averages out to a 5.7 attack boost so with something like reckoning or black mace, Trapper hood/Hunters guide, and palantir, you can get +9 attack for your arbalests. Or in practice, 17.1 per round when follow up is considered

I always thought that Sand Soldier is triggered whenever Kirun deals damage. If I'm wrong, then your idea with Arbalests is worth a try mate. In general I'm a friend for experimenting around. Only by trying out new stuff, we can discover something better. Please let me know if it works out like you described

@@FollowAzra I don't have kirun sadly on my evil account but yes the skill recently was changed in one of the updates this month. Changed from 90% heal per round to 80% heal each time the troop deals damage. If you or any of your whaled out friends has a kirun I would love to know the result. Aegis hunters guide can finally be useful for evil factions haha

Many people got the Gigantic Hammer [Frenzy] to get the double healing proc with Sand Soldier, which is a VERY HARD to get item and costed many people lots of money. And the game devs just changed the mechanic just like that?? Some people are crying for a refund I assume...
