Great review! Surprised it doesn't come with the olympic adaptor sleeves for the weight posts. I think it's fairly common for lat pulldown to have the cable rub against the top if pulling away from an angle. I would totally buy a lat pulldown attachment for my rack but I literally don't have enough space at home. You should do a full home gym tour and a review of the mag grip knockoffs! Cheer!
@HowtoandReviewsOfficial
@HowtoandReviewsOfficial Жыл бұрын
Yeah, if you don’t have the room there’s not much that can be done. This Fitness Realty rack is not very deep, so that helps. The universal kit still does the job. It just takes a little longer to setup. The Mag Grip attachments will be the next gym equipment video for sure! A walk around could be fun. Point out the most useful pieces of equipment. I thought I had bought my last piece of equipment like 10 times now. Lol. But I do think I am pretty much optimized right now and don’t have any new major equipment planned.

@@HughLeFitness I do not have a Swiss bar, but I really don’t have the room for more big items like that. I have a set of PowerBlock classic 50s. I’ve had them for close to 15 years. They do the job. I would like to upgrade to the PowerBlock elite, because they can expand up to 90 pounds. But, I think it’s in the realm of $700 for that set up. Not a priority right now.

The Titan pulley tower does have an advantage. You can adjust the height of the pulley. And I have seen someone who attached it to the side of the Fitness Realty cage. But, if you’re good with just a high and low pull locations, this is great, and it’s made for this cage.

Thanks for the update! I am interested to see the new design. Did you design the leg hold down kit?
@HowtoandReviewsOfficial
@HowtoandReviewsOfficial Жыл бұрын
I checked out your channel. I see that you are a design engineer for Fitness Reality. It’s an honor to hear from you. Thanks for watching and commenting! Definitely don’t take it personal. I also work as a mechanical engineer for a living and design complex multimillion dollar machines. When installed and running, the only feedback is the 1% of the machine that has issue. The rack and the lat kit are outstanding and I definitely recommend them. The 1% is that the hold down is a perfect design if everything is perfectly aligned, but that’s not always the case. Especially since I’ve been slamming weights all of the rack for two years. There is nothing that holds the spacing between the front two posts. It’s not a major problem, but something I had to point out for an honest and thorough review. Definitely not personal. I would like to connect if you are interested. I think designing fitness equipment might actually be my dream job at this point in time.

@@HowtoandReviewsOfficial Best why to show your honor is with a review online, wherever you bought it? :). put DON in the review so i can have fun teasing the sales department. i'm just over reacting to your comment. I'm limited in what i can do to make this product mostly affordable. Not many lat pull downs have middle foot height rear cross bar for bracing against, and a lap hold down bar. I mostly stumbled into this job after graduating with my ME degree. so not sure how one really gets into a job like this. it was a combination of responding to random craiglist posts, missing the call for an interview, and then just deciding to storm the office the same day as the call. I'm open to talk more. what is the best way to connect?

Hey man, great video! Couple questions, you look pretty tall, and I am 6'4 myself, does the rack itself support that kind of height? Do you think it would be tall enough? The pullup bars are a primary concern of mine. Also, being tall and having long arms means having a long range of motion for many excersizes with the lat pulldown attachment. I want to buy this one, but am scared that I will run into the same problem I have with my current cheap functional trainer, and that is the weights hit the peak of the pulley before my range of motion is complete, This is a problem I am having for things like cable lateral raises. Is any of this a concern I would have with this machine? Thanks!
@HowtoandReviewsOfficial
@HowtoandReviewsOfficial 9 ай бұрын
I am 6’ 1” and my arms are also pretty long. For the cage itself, I don’t think there are any issues. You will need to bend your legs back at the knees for pull-ups. I do this. I think it’s pretty typical. Anyone who can reach the pull-up bar while standing on the ground will have to do this. For the pulley system, I think you will be ok for things such as lateral raises. You will need to find the right place to stand and/or the right cable length (I add chain to the end of the cable to extend it for exercises where I stand farther away from the cage). Lat pull-downs may be an issue. I have no problems with a straight bar, but can’t quite fully extend when using my knockoff mag grip with an extra carabiner. The best solution is a lower bench so your arms will still have full range of motion without hitting the top pulley.

@HowtoandReviewsOfficial
@HowtoandReviewsOfficial Жыл бұрын
Make sure to load the same weight on each side to keep the slider balanced on the vertical post. Double check the pulleys and make sure they are rotating smoothly. Over tightening the pulleys can make them bind up and hard to rotate, adding resistance. Those are my best tips. Hopefully that helps!

the 1 inch to 2 inch adapter you linked to has a 8 inch and a 11 inch length version that is about the same price. Any thoughts on pros vs cons for an adapter that is 8 inch vs 11 inch in length?
@HowtoandReviewsOfficial
@HowtoandReviewsOfficial Жыл бұрын
With the 11 inch long sleeve, plates loaded on the outer 4 inches will only be supported by plastic since there is no steel core inside. It would probably be ok, but I played it safe. I have personally not had any need for the extra length. The 8 inch sleeves have been more than long enough for me.

hello, do you know if we can just cut out that bar that rubs on the cable. If we just use a metal grinder or sawzal, do you know if removing that small bar will cause any issues?
@HowtoandReviewsOfficial
@HowtoandReviewsOfficial 4 ай бұрын
I looked at that. It would not cause any structural problems, but It would actually make the cable rubbing problem worse. The cable will rub on the inside of the tube, which are not smooth surfaces. If you don’t own this yet, and are considering purchasing it new, this problem has been solved. They redesigned that top pulley area. If you have the original version shown in this video, I made an add-on roller solution video.

I have not done a review for them yet, but it’s definitely on the list to do. amzn.to/3JPIH1D I also owned this set. I didn’t care for the Row attachment because the handle diameter is really small. I got a different one with the rubber grips that’s larger in diameter and feels a lot nicer. I did a review video for this set. amzn.to/3YStXDC The handle that I used for side delt raises in the video is pretty generic. I think I got the pair of them from eBay. That has been a well rounded kit for me. Currently, there are no other attachments that I am in need of or planning to buy.

I made a few design improvements and got 50 kits laser cut so I will have those available to offer if anyone is interested in purchasing a complete kit instead of building their own. I would have posted the video by now, but unfortunately, the laser cut company I used is taking forever! I checked in with them again today for a status update.
