My advice to new investors: Buy good companies stocks and hold them as long as they are good companies. Just do this and ignore the forecasts and market views which are at best entertaining but completely useless.

The best idea is just to do an index fund. In general, you’ll get 3-5% more out of the market than if you try to go a different method. Then again, you could just go in on the Ploski Index - Senators are known to outperform the market by around 25%. There’s an argument to be made copying what policymakers do because they’re the ones regulating the market in the first place.

Yep I'm from Australia where we have superannuation. I'm currently living in Canada and have been contributing to my TFSA and RRSPs. The great thing about superannuation in Australia is that the government requires employers to contribute 10.5% of your earnings to super and you can elect voluntary contributions that will come out of your pay pre-tax each pay period. It's so widespread that your yearly salary is usually quoted post-super and everything just happens automatically.

My advice is always to keep the majority in ETFs that cover multiple sectors. Then have a couple stocks, as a small percentage, picked out that you feel personally attached to or interested in. That way you can mitigate a lot of the risk but also have a personal touch to your portfolio. I feel this mitigates some of the emotional downsides or disinterest people have with investing. Also helps with the urge to constantly buy/sell with fluxes in the market. Grateful i have an adviser at this point, major Thanks to James Fletcher Brennan for getting me to a million

no benifit. some ppl just like to have a growth portfolio in one. and a income portfolio in another to keep things separate and watch them separately some ppl like that. also. some ppl have there 401k. then have a roth ira they opened with vanguard years ago then maybe when robbinhood came out they opened a regular brokerage account cause they wanted to use that app. some will transfer all there assets over to whatever current platform Ed being used. others will leave there accounts were they are due to tax reasons or that's the way they want it. or it just don't bother them having money in money places.
