I agree with Kevin, the most annoying things about the old games were getting to the end of the mission, dying, and having to restart the whole feckin mission, the checkpoints are the only reason I play the definitive edition. Also, Happy belated Birthday Kevin

The funny thing is while it typically sucks, End of the Line(the final mission) actually does have checkpoints in the original with them, they did this by making it three seperate missions in the files, Part 1 is the start and ends when you kill Smoke and the second part is when your escaping the Crack Palace and the third is when Tenpenny gets into the Fire Truck, It's kind of intriguing honestly at how they set it up this way.

@@jerrytriplet1478 If you look at anyone doing a Rainbowmizer run with the Mission Randomizer it can pull all 3 parts individually, But yeah if you die on the way to killing Smoke then you do have to restart as that's Part 1 which ends after you kill Smoke. My only theory for why they didn't setup more like this is that they didn't want to have the player kill Big Smoke twice and kill the vibe of the final mission too much(as I can see having to rekill Big Smoke hurting the effectiveness of his death scene honestly) But, that's mostly just a guess, as i have no clue honestly.

i used to be banned from sharp objects as a child because between the ages of like, 8-12 i got something like 6 sharp object wounds on my hands lmao my favourite kevin-luck tier injury is when i was mauled by a vacuum cleaner and it gave me a surgical level precision cut on my hip that required like 18 stitches nobody believes me when i show them that and tell them a vacuum did it because it looks like a surgery scar that i have on my leg, but when the roombapocalypse happens, i will be the only survivor.

When i was a kid, playing this game, my disc got scratched. Apparently this damaged the parts necessary for the other regions of the map so i couldn't leave the starting area without the game freezing every time. It's nice to see all the whacky stuff I missed out on and having kevin play it, makes it so much funnier.

Fun fact: the reason Smoke's statue looks different in the crack fortress is that was how he was originally meant to appear. In fact, the cover art for the game has one piece of art where the gang is doing a drive by with both Sweet and Smoke in their original outfits

molotov cocktails are my best friend in this game. complete all the firefighter levels (there’s 12) and you’ll be immune to fire and also get like $50k+ for the missions. then i grinded all the tags and it gives you weapon spawns in cj’s house (one of which is the molotovs) so you can quickly max the ammo for those weapons. all tags sprayed also gives grove street families better weapons when they spawn in. the only semi-useful gang member for me has been the ones with deagles lol

@@olivercharles2930 very true, i’ve had several times where i was almost done but couldn’t finish for whatever reason. firefighter levels are imo the easiest to do cause you can shoot the water from a decent distance but ig it all depends on personal preference lol. cop missions are nearly impossible for me to do without racking up hella stars and ultimately having to stop

That part where you have to take back all the hoods is very frustrating lol. There's no real indication of when you've taken back enough so you either waste time checking in with Sweet after every few hoods you reclaim, or you just soldier on for absolutely ages until you're positive you've claimed enough territory. It's very tedious and it was an even worse experience when I was a child because you weren't even really sure if you were doing the right thing. It's not like the internet was fleshed out with information and available at the glance of your phone screen like it is now. You just had to kind of assume you were doing the right thing.

I happily captured all the territories before smoke turned on you... was further pissed off since the PS2 copy I had was so badly scratched that I couldn't play the mission after that... even tried going other places, but I guess I was supposed to get a phone call or something, which was in the damaged parts of the disc causing it to crash. after getting a new disc a few years later, I was unable to get back up to that part of the game before the system died (think it was a rather old one in some garage), so I was still unable to get further :c Was nice to see the game being completed, and more so since it was in a wacky way :D

That final mission, goddamn. Did it once when I was younger, got through the building, drove after him for so long, and then close to the end it made no indication on how close you had to be to catch Sweet only to be a literal pixel off. Seeing it restart at the very beginning made me nope out, and never finished it to this day.

Actually, no, back in the day, you would have to start the mission from the exact same points are you are right now! End of the Line is 3 separate missions that play one after the other, and so if you die on part 2 (escaping the building), then you would respawn at the hospital, and you would have to go to grove street to restart it, but then you'd spawn directly after the fight with Smoke. The third part, the car chase, would also begin the same way it does here. Goes to show that in the mobile ports/ definitive edition, they did literally nothing.

Towards the end when you couldn't put out the fire, it was an odd thing in the original game as well where if you had night vision goggles on, you couldn't put out the flames. It is also strange that they left it in the 'definitive edition' so it was intentionally put in.
