Every time their friends say he's a good guy for returning the money OP should ask them this, 'if someone mugged you and then went on to give some of the money they stole from you to a charity, would you say they're a good person because they did a normally good thing after doing a bad thing?'
@photofreak56
@photofreak56 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah probably not. I understand that there are people who mug other people so that they can get money to feed themselves or out of desperation but still doesn't change the fact that what they're doing is really fucked up. Honestly I wish that I had that type of disappointment that Op has because I would have gone full on scorched Earth if I found out my partner cheated on me and then erased me so fucking quickly.

Actually, every time anyone says he's a good guy, I would respond, apparently not, he's still committing fraud (e.g , using fraudulent t4's to get a new loan to pay op back). I would give a heads up to the loan company regarding the new fraudulent loan. Then my work would be done. Actual good guys don't cheat or commit financial crimes 🤔

My friend when I was being torn up about that after an interaction where the ex was a total jerk to me said "Look he's not nice to you and that's what counts". Getting you to participate in fraud, cheating on you, and bailing does not a good guy make. Story #1 FYI Maximum claim in Small Claims Court in Canada is $35,000.00 CDN. As for the CRA, they disapprove of any kind of tax fraud, but as they received taxes for MORE than they were entitled to, I doubt they will descend quickly upon the fraudsters to force money back into their wallets.

Ouch. I feel that whole "good guy" thing. I felt that when my ex cheated on me with the woman he would eventually leave me for. I wasn't a girly girl like her, he was everyone's best friend/brother. She was everything I wasn't. And it wasn't the first time he cheated on me, nor the last time he would cheat. Still hurts like hell because most of our "friends" stayed with him because I was depressed/depressing to be around and always had our children. He could go out to bars are the drop of a hat or play Xbox live all nigjt because I had our children. No one wanted to hang with the depressed single mom. I barely made it through that time and I thank the friends and family that did stay. He went on to cheat on the next two women he was with, but he's still seen as the fun guy. But I found myself a good one after I pulled myself back together. I hope OP does as well.

I wouldn't rise above it. I'd take him straight to court for my money and then drop both Ex and his employer completely in it with the tax office.

yes, canada has a $3500 small claims limit (in new brunswick) may differ by province...mind you the dollar is only worth 65 to 70 cents

*sigh* Affairs that begin this way- out of the excitement of cheating, relying on the wronged partner financially - often end as quickly as they began. I would caution OP to block her ex on everything once she gets her money back from him. When he gets dumped after being cheated on by "Loreena" he will surely have the audacity to return to OP. Don't give him the opportunity.

Cheating is so disgusting, if someone doesn't want to be in a relationship, break up, then move on. So sad for OP that this happened to her, that she was deceived by someone who really wasn't such a great guy. She handled this with grace in the face of a disgusting person who enjoyed lying. I hope next time OP has the sense to not get together with someone crooked. Wow, so many trashy people who are complicit is all this. After updates: OP should report the fraud to all applicable entities. After update: Glad OP got her money back. WTH, he's not a good guy, good guys do not lie and cheat, do not commit fraud. Now he is using his next partner and her family. Yup, :Living well is the best revenge." ~ George Herbert

So now she knows that she benefited from his fraud, she can't lay a claim anymore. So now he's just going to do this to somebody else and the cycle continues because she was too weak to stand up. Now when he eventually gets caught she could be liable as well. She is not being intelligent, she's setting herself up for a bigger fall later. Can't believe nobody else saw this.

Man, it'd be a shame for anyone in the Canadian tax office to get ahold of this. Took me less than 10 minutes to identify the cheating ex and the AP. Didn't even try that hard; basic Google searches.

So he went from being in debt to OP to being in debt to his new gf, his mom, and hopefully a loan shark 😊 Also I disagree with her ex not being a narcissist. It's not always true but a lot of narcissists are seen as the "good guys" cause they're great actors.

There is small claims court up to $5000 and then there is a way to sue for larger amounts. She can put a lean on his house

It is a complete mystery to me how people who cheat and more on with their ap don't see that neither of them are making good moral decisions. It follows that someone who will cheat with you has no qualms cheating on you. Good riddance to the would be "nice guy" I sincerely hope op sees that this was a blessing and props to the MVP her friend who had her back before she was unceremoniously dumped for no reason and without explanation, perhaps without her money.

He didn't even have the decency to admit it fully when caught, snapping that it was "one time" when it was multiple occasions, as if the OP was doing *him* an injustice. If the OP needs a bit of consolation, his new woman can never trust him, and deep down she knows she cannot, being well aware of how he can behave. It'll breed suspicion on her side and resentment on his. Not the ingredients for a happy relationship.

good guy, yeaaah sure.. I had a friend that I let stay with me for a short while. She moved out as if she was fleeing when all I did was confront her about her paying super little towards rent and nothing else and barely doing any chores. Made me take a hard, good look at myself with the help of a therapist and the conclusion was that I am not an abuser, she is probably not a narcissist but is at the very least a Victim and to young to see what she has done. I gave her multiple chances to open communications with me back up and have yet to hear anything, but once I got the utility bill for the time she spend in my apartment and have billed her for her portion, I will block her. Sometimes, the fault lies with a "normal" person even when the situation makes us feel like the bad person. Sometimes it really is just their stupidity and thoughtlessness.
