Mitochondria are the energy powerhouses of our cells. When they are not functioning well, your body doesn't function well. You might have brain fog, feel fatigued, and even age prematurely. In this interview, Dave Asprey talks to Dr. Hyman about why it's so important to pay attention to your mitochondria and how to fix them.
Dave is the creator of the Bulletproof Diet, and innovator of Bulletproof Coffee. He is a four-time New York Times bestselling science author, host of the Webby award-winning podcast Bulletproof Radio, and has been featured on the Today show, Fox News, Nightline, CNN, and dozens more. Over the last two decades Dave, the “Father of Biohacking”, has worked with world-renowned doctors, researchers, scientists, and global mavericks to uncover the latest, most innovative methods, techniques, and products for enhancing mental and physical performance.

54:41: Top 5 tips 1. Eat more good fat (DO EAT un-damaged olive oil, coconut oil, grass-fed butter, nuts, fatty wild-caught fish; DO NOT EAT vegetable/canola oil, anything processed, anything deep-fried) 2. Go for a walk regularly and, once or twice a week, do HIIT for a short period of time (15 minutes) 3. At the end of your shower, turn the water’s temperature all the way down, completely cold, just for a very short period of time 4. Sleep in a room that is completely free of artificial light, and don’t look at your phone before going to bed 5. Practice meditation and/or gratitude every night

Why is Dave Asprey not slim and skinny ? he looks high on pot or other drugs ; look at his face ! his B.S. coffee is not working .....He's looks 10 years older than his age...Dave Asprey has aged so poorly...on his high fat meat diet ! Not trying to be mean, just pointing out that a diet low in antioxidants and fiber doesn't help you age well. This man is a narcissist with a big ego and does it well with a smile(phoney charlatan) ...If anyone mentions anything on Dave Asprey podcast, he talks about himself and how he use to be fat. He has many boring guests, people that obviously paid to be on bulletproof podcast (Yes he pays 20k to be on it) .every guest licks his ass..because he pays 20 k to all the guests . Or he talks about new gadgets that are a waste of money, saying he uses them everyday in his routine ... which is obviously a lie.He keeps on talking about 40 years of Zen, but you can see it doesn't work! Because if it did, Dave wouldn't be so full of himself. This is not the biohacking movement anymore coming from him. It's just a sales pitch. The books Dave Asprey writes is filled with dubious claims based on little evidence or " cherry picked studies" that are "taken out of context". The author, Dave Asprey, vilifies healthy foods and suggests part of the way to achieve a "pound a day" weight loss is to buy his expensive, "science-based" Bulletproof products.Almost every fad diet-book starts with a compelling personal narrative.a..Dave asprey always says "The best way to lose weight is by buying my special products!" In Asprey's food categorizations, many of the items that rank as most healthy are his own branded products: Bulletproof Brain Octane, Bulletproof Chocolate Powder, Bulletproof Ghee, Bulletproof Whey, et cetera. Alarm bells should go off any time someone claims that you should buy their expensive products for your diet. Especially when the products come with miracle promises, like Asprey's Unfair Advantage, which he suggests will help your body grow new mitochondria (the energy powerhouses of the cells). There's BULLSHIT EVERYWHERE all around us! The best skill you can learn is to filter the good from the bad, and never buy into anything all the way. That holds true for internet gurus and mainstream medicine alike. 1--->As soon as someone says he would live to 180 years old, red flag is flying in my mind..This man is a professional con-artist sales man. 2- -->If fat is so good for testosterone why does Asprey injection testosterone ?.------>debunked !

The biggest takeaway of the video: Mitochondrial dysfunction is at the root of inflammation. Avoid industrial oils, heavy metal toxicity, overuse of antibiotics, plant lectins and/or gluten and pesticides. These are all toxic to your mitochondria. I will be at Dave's 180th birthday party if I am still around. 😄

@TylerJacksonMagic
@TylerJacksonMagic 2 жыл бұрын
@@lorichet How long were you on keto, and how strict were you on it? There’s no such thing as “too low in carbs”. I have a feeling you probably weren’t on it long enough to get over the hump of cravings, usually takes a month or two, or maybe there were some hidden carbs you didn’t know you were eating, and you weren’t even in ketosis in the first place. Either way, you can live your entire life with no dietary carbs, no question. Most scientists won’t contest that at all. Look up Angus Barbieri, he was a man who fasted (under medical supervision) for 382 days, living on absolutely nothing but his own body fat, and vitamins and minerals given to him by his doctor. Also the Inuit natives lived on almost a pure carnivore diet aswell. Either way, I’m glad you found something that works for you, it’s better to have a healthy diet that works for you than to try to find “the healthiest diet in the world”, if you can’t stick to it. Good luck on the rest of your dietary journey!

Interesting to hear Dave speak on mitochondrial harm caused by prescription drugs like metformin, when others like Dr. David Sinclair speak about the benefits of metformin on longevity.
@stanthompson9379
@stanthompson9379 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately one big risk with metformin mainly with the extended release formulations is they are commonly found to contain highly toxic and dangerous contaminants and i am referring to pharmaceutical grade you get from actual US pharmacies like CVS or Walgreens or Rite Aid. It has been found in all types of metformin but like I said mostly in the extended release formulations for some reason the instant release ones are far less likely to contain this type of contamination. This contaminant I am referring to is highly carcinogenic. And apparently some of the most recent studies of metformin on people who are not diabetic or insulin resistant show that metformin might actually harm healthy people it’s benefits seem to only be in people with proper insulin resistance.

Through to today) for the first time....WOW!!!! Since then I have ate non stop 🙈🙈 but all good clean food. Gonna have a little cheat day tomorrow. No fasting. Back to clean eating sunday and fast over night through monday. Aiming for 24 with 3 or 4 days off after. Thanku so so much. I did 12000 steps in 2 hours. Usually struggling at around 5000 which takes me all day. I went from burning about 800cals in gym sessions to zero when I got i'll. This is a massive step for me. Thanku again. U are wonderful. 💖💖💖

When I want to go to bed the fact my dog is always waiting always makes me Incredibly happy before going bed cuddling up to her I get my proper oxytocin fix from her. Having a dog is recklessly beneficial like meditating the more of a genuine animal lover you are obviously the more beneficial it will be and since childhood I’ve been obsessed with all animals still to this day my three biggest passions in life are Animals, Motorsports including cars, motorcycles and four wheelers, and lastly Cannabis and other Psychedelic plants and fungi. Those are my main 3 passions in life. Riding my motorcycle instead of driving for example is incredibly therapeutic for me. My version of heaven would be to live on a huge property that’s farm like in a mountainous region with my own proper all organic sungrown cannabis farm with the most exotic longest flowering true sativa dominant strains, a ton of different animals of all sorts it would be like a sanctuary for them I would have cows as my friends I would politely use some of their milk I’d have a bunch of super happy and spoiled chickens so they would have the most nutritious eggs possible for my family I would want sheep and goats and pigs and horses and especially donkeys and a lot of different dogs and maybe one or two naked Sphinx cats and I would have all the most legendary 2 stroke dirt bikes and atvs to ride around the property although I reckon the animals would be terrified of the 2 strokes since their so ridiculously loud so maybe I’d have a fun pickup truck to take them to a trail to ride instead in a Dodge Ram SRT10 perhaps or a Ford raptor.

I have a series of surgeries coming up on my left foot and I'm hoping that I'll be able to walk without a limp or horrible pain! Fingers crossed!

Can cognitive problems be reversed in someone in their late 70s? Person has heart disease and RA issues.

I’m not a doctor but after researching how to heal brain damage for many years including dementia, according to all sources I’ve found, the answer is yes to improving cognition at any age and some even say reversing it. The key is anti inflammatory diet as mentioned in this video and look up “neuroplasticity.”

Mark, that study doesn’t prove that saturated fats are good for you, it only proves that they’re better than seed oils. And Harvard is still pushing a low saturated fat, limited meat diet. Other experts cite modern studies that do show that high-fat, high-cholesterol diets have a negative effect on lifespan. So who, and what studies do you believe? IDK. I’ve been doing keto but I feel like I’m playing Russian roulette with my cardiovascular health. I’m going back to Mediterranean.

Look up Frederick Stare at Harvard University being paid millions of dollars by the sugar industry to downplay the role of sugar causing coronary heart disease and blame it on fat. They paid off other scientists and researchers at major universities as well to blame these health issues on fat. That is where the “fat is bad” lie all started.

Any doctor not respected by western medicine doctors is probably doing the right thing, IMO. Western med doctors are trained to sell drugs to mask symptoms, not to prescribe nutrition and lifestyle changes that HEAL the disease.

LOL, I wish people like him would say “biological age”. For a long time I was looking at people like him that were saying they were getting younger until I found out it was biological age and not physical age.

@@Duskmelt well , this is even stupidier. How do you kjow he is younger inside? His words only? And if he says he can breath water you will take it at face value, too? Lol. We can't assess his bio age other than his looks. He certainly looks older than 5 years ago. So there is every reason to think he got older, thus he didn't reverse hus aging, and no reason to think otherwise. This is just simple logic - he makes an extraordinary statement and it needs an extraordinary proof. Just being slim doesn't mean you are younger, there are literally billions slim people in the world, do they all age in reverse? Obviously, no. Try thinking with your brain and don't fall for sensations. I have nothing against him and actually have followed him for years and took some good advice, but he is a bit delusional at best and needs to he more scientific in his claims.
