Or to middle men that strip the cars, clean the parts, and sell the parts to those online shops. The ones that don't sell to companies, to be parted out, will be salvaged. But that's a VERY small number. (Maybe a couple percent.) It's very hard to sell a car with a salvaged title.

Most cars at pull a part are not drivable mostly need a motor or transmission. For the ones that are wrecked the owners probably only had liability insurance. This is why you never buy a engine or trans from a car that was not wrecked. At least with a wrecked car you know it was running and driving at the time of the accident

Buying a Salvaged car for parts could make sense but as far as reviving one of these wrecks maybe you should consider a few things first. On all modern cars there are multiple computers controlling and verifying various systems. Even in vehicles that have never been accidented there are issues that arise with wiring or computer glitches. They can be difficult and expensive to diagnose and the replacement parts are seldom cheap. Now take a vehicle that went through several G's of shock waves and the potential gremlins are formidable at best. Some will appear right away and some will surface later and some will be like ghosts in the night. Then there is the chassis geometry that even in new vehicles can require expert diagnosis and tweeking caster camber toe. Now take a car that has suffered a frame twisting shock episode and now the front wheels don't exactly track with the rear and some suspension parts are just slightly bent but none of these issues are clearly visible. You don't want to find out about these issues while you're testing how the vehicle performs at speed or discover that your very expensive tires suffer from abnormal wear . I'll fully understand the lure of owning an exotic car for one fifth the price but one should be fully aware that there are real risks so let the buyer beware.

I wish I hadn’t sold off my limited edition 2005 Saturn Relay. It got a pretty hard hit in left rear corner panel. Frame was cracked so they totaled it, at the time I wasn’t aware it was a limited edition, and I have not been able to locate it since the accident. It’s a beautiful golden color in great condition except drivers side is pretty damaged. I can’t afford to buy it back, but if anyone buys it (has bought it) please let me know. I can give you the all the history I had with it for the 7 years I owned it.

This would not be something that could be buffed out. It needed a new rear bumper, left tail light, left rear fender and a new tailgate. Plus damage to the back up sensors and some minor frame damage. Passenger side sliding door doesn’t always work right and we couldn’t open the driver’s side due to the damage to the fender. Sorry to say that it doesn’t sound like mine, but I wish you the best of luck as I never had any issues once I cleaned the MAP sensor and throttle body.
