When I heard that Oprah is 92% and 8% Native I was so jealous but you at 96%, wow! The only other people in the USA that are 90-100% African mostly live on the Sea Islands in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. The enslaved people that were brought there were isolated and their DNA remained pure African. Thanks for posting your results.

not always my dad's side from the deep south alabama mississippi and louisiana and maybe delaware they are in the upper 80%. Many are low 90% My mother's family's the same they are all from chicago tennessee new jersey virginia ohio and that's what most mixed ones are. But I noticed for me I'm not even english on my european side I'm some kid of eastern european usually balkan or baltic or finnish those are the heritage I get with scandinavian not much english most of the time. You see her composition of mixture is not even what mixed black americans have people like her or me have a very different history probably than those who are mostly english descent.

North and South Carolina are Gullah-Geeches which: are the only African Americans to preserve their heritage during slavery. They speak English-Creole similar to Jamaican Patwa. Geeches are connected to Barbados. Geeches tend to score in the mid 90% percentile of African heritage

I’m super happy for you! In did my 23andMe test and discovered I’m 87 percent African (Liberian and Nigerian mostly). I wish my African percentage was higher lol. I want to dig deeper and find which tribe I’m from so I order the African Ancestry DNA and Myheritage DNA test kits today. My Paternal haplogroup is E-M191 and my maternal Haplogroup is L2A1F. I cant wait to discover the tribe I am from cuz like you, I’m going there!

As an African American, I think one of the reasons why you got such a high percentage of African DNA is because your family stayed in the south. Because slavery in the US took place in the south, that's where most African Americans were located. It wasn't until the early 20th century when a period known as the Great Black Migration took place, where over six million African Americans left the south and moved to the west coast, midwest, and east coast. The south has a very racist history and most southern states made interracial marriages illegal. Because interracial dating was so taboo and frowned upon, even to this very day in the southern united states, blacks in the south mainly stuck with blacks, whereas blacks in other places in the midwest, east coast, and west coast would be much more open to marrying outside of their race. I've noticed that African Americans (despite having family from the south) who live in places like NYC, LA, Oakland, Chicago, Baltimore, Boston, Detroit, San Francisco, St. Louis, etc tend to have more European ancestry than blacks from the southern states. The only exception to this rule is the state of Louisiana, where both sides of my family who's ancestors were slaves. Now me personally, I'm from Los Angeles but my complexion is between light and brown even though I'm black. I know my great great grandparents were a mixed couple from The Netherlands in one part of my family tree, but other than that, mostly everyone is black as far as I know. Louisiana is a melting pot of both European and African cultures, from Voodoo in Congo Square in New Orleans to the St. Louis Cathedral in the French Quarters, and there's a long history of race mixing in Louisiana so who knows what I am. I know most of the slaves in Louisiana came from Senegal, The Gambia, Benin, Angola, Congo, and Nigeria, but I won't really know until I take that damn test lol anyways, enjoyed the video and have a blessed one.
