I just got a z06 3lz HTC on a fluke.. had an issue with the wholesaler who bought my wife's car on a trade, when I called the dealer, they told me the owner of the dealership wasn't taking a z06 he ordered for a demo.. then a minute later I was told he was taking it. The next morning I got a call, I could get it.. and that I did. Got them up 15k on my trade and got the Z06 at MSRP.. I didn't have to wait for allocation and actually wasn't planning on getting the car, because it was too difficult.. fun car..now to get past the 500mile break in..

Seems like a good deal to me. I paid over 188k for a Z07 and at 2000 miles I had to take it to the dealership to have a valve body replaced in the transmission… ya just never know.. luckily you’ve got a great warranty.

That was my thought honestly as well at the beginning. Where it helps though is that the car orginally is from California which has more buyer protecting laws in effect in this case that make buy backs more possible for less impactful reasons. Between that and I had litterally gone line by line on the car work history (independent than what the dealer gave me to verify legitimacy), i felt pretty confident about it. Plus all the repairs were conducted and then the owner of the dealer himself drove the car around for another 1k miles with no issues so that made me feel good as well. Yeah its still a calculated risk but im feeling pretty good about it.

Thanks bud. For the research i had done, the MOST i had seen was 10k under the original MSRP price at new for Z06s that were used and around 5k miles or less. So this one beibg 17k under its original sticker price was a massively good deal. Even with the branded title yes ill get less for it down the line (although sell value is not what i got this car for to begin with) but I also have much less INTO it as compared to others on the market so it evens out too. And it still has its full manufacturers warranty. So its all good to go 😎👍

Believe it or not . The bar is much higher for a manufacturer buy back , including a chain of repairs concluded by a failed final repair attempt before a Lemon buy back occurs .

I probably should have clarified it better in the video. So what made this situation plausible was where this issue of the buyback which was in California. California law tends to better protect the buyers that can request a buyback without the typical lemon clause of 3 attempts at repair of the same issue that some other states. In this situation, it met the criteria for the clause, specifically the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, even after one repair attempt but failed due to a timeline clause where the engine repair took longer than 30 total days. In this criteria the buyer could, and did, request the buyback which automatically requires chevy to comply and then required by law to tag the car as a lemon. the Manufacturer can still then repair the car, which they did, and then allowed to resell the car so long as the new owner has a complete record and understanding of the issue that occurred. The complete timeline of all actions of the repair were presented to me, which I double checked with a couple of other outside sources just in case, and it all checked out. I say all this because in no way do I want anyone thinking there is "more to the story". I like to think I am as genuine on camera as possible and I want my audience to enjoy my shared experience both in the good and not so good. Thanks again for giving me the this opportunity to make this clarification and I appreciate the support!

I am sure you got a great whip. But just because a car case is eligible to be considered a Lemon, does not automatically make it one..there are many exceptions which are state depenedent, such as was a rental provided, was it a safety issue .. etc..even if it goes to hearing, the issue must be demmonstratable and exist at time of hearing which if they managed to already fix would not be the case.. in some cases the oem would do a voluntary repurchase. Regardless of all of this gotta say it's a beautiful z06...

Congrats. Hate to hear it's a lemon car though, as it WILL not be worth anywhere NEAR that when you try to sell it later. The title of the car and VIN are now stamped for good. Only way a lemon car is worth it, is when you are planning on keeping it for GOOD. You are right, it is a great price for a 3LZ, but you can for sure get a new 3LZ close to that price. 121k is a lot for a lemon car, BUT as long as you plan on keeping it, you are right....IT'S GOLDEN. I could not get a car loan on a 2019, in December 2019. Bank said because it was a buyback. How much will insurance cover?

I will say because it was a buyback there is a select number of banks that will approve of a loan but they do exist so its not impossible. I just took care of updating my insurance and it worked out pretty well. Only an increase of my premium by like $170 compared to my C8 stingray. So it came out to about $30 more a month which is reasonable honestly by price difference alone between the two variants

But I think I got a equally interesting story on the purchase of my 2024 C8 Z06. A gentleman ordered a COMPLETELY SPECED OUT ( MINUS THE CF WHEELS) Kept it for 2 days and put 216 miles on it and brought it back because he wanted the E-Ray. The MSRP WAS $163K I GOT IT FOR $148K.....15K UNDER... AND YES IT HAS THE Z07 PACKAGE

I don't know where you live, but here in Maryland a lemon has to have a 3 times repair of the same problem. So maybe the oil leak was an issue beside the engine cover gasket. But maybe you did get a good deal. Here, the Z06 new are going for 10k on average. People who paid 50 to 70k over MRSP have lost a lot of money . That's not counting the additional tax they paid. I recommend you monitor the engine closely.

Folks there are no new, untitled Z06’s selling meaningfully below MSRP anywhere I am aware of currently. You may find an over optioned mod causing dealer pain but he can trade it so why sell it to you for a steep discount?Any comments here or click bait headlines on this or other channels are just that. To anyone who states otherwise, include the dealer name and who your sales rep was so we can all take advantage of your great find. Otherwise it’s not believable. Sorry. The only thing that matters is if your happy with what u paid, but in my opinion don’t think it was a good deal, 4-5k off MSRP is common of asking price but not the actual sales price, as of this date 10k off is a realistic actual sales price with 12-15k off deals out there, not to mention prices in free fall right now. So let’s say your average true savings was 6-7k from a clean car fax example, upon resale your loss will be significantly more then what u saved up front. Unfortunately your buyers pool will be significantly lower. It’s just the way it is.

It's too bad Chevy got crazy with the C8 Z06 pricing. The price between the C8 Stingray & the Z06 Is too much. The C7 pricing with the two models made much more sense. I got a paid for C8 Stingray. Even at 121,000 & taxes. Is twice as much as a regular C8 Stingray for not that much more performance.
