I've made my own "waterproof" matches, It's pretty easy. Just dip them in hot wax. I've also made some with dryer lint and wax as a "quick campfire starter kit" all of these I placed into sealed containers. I'm a kayaker so having matches that are dry is always good.

try making a perlite and isopropyl alcohol burner. used a butter cookie tin, some hardware cloth, perlite and alcohol. puncter a couple of holes around the base of the container to let some extra O2 into the device. it works good for heating a coffee pot, canned goods and anything you can wrap in foil and cook. im going to try your lint and wax matches idea.

Search "boundary layer". It doesnt work quite like your looking for. Notice the little "bubble layer" around the hot section? That's exactly why the water didnt put out the fire. The hot burning part & the water never actually even touch each other.

A real small pile of tiny twigs, then add more tiny twigs (repeat 4x), then slightly larger twigs, and more of the slightly larger twigs, then keep upgrading till you have a real fire. Bic cigarette lighters are my go to fire starter. Extremely reliable, can easily dry out if they get wet, TONS of burn time, and if you run out of gas, you have a flint sparker! I keep 3 or 4 in my survival stuff

Tyler you should try again and see if they’ll still work after being left in water overnight. Also put a little water in the container and leave it in the sun all day so it gets plenty of water vapor.
