Hey. Your skin definitely looks better. When I was 15 I went on accutane because my face was a mess. I literally looked like a monster. That drug is no joke, but it destroyed my acne and gave me clear skin. But now, at 35, I am still struggling to get clear skin as my acne is coming back. I am going to try the Cerave retinol and see if it will help get rid of the old faded acne marks. All the best to you.

I started using this about 3 years ago and other people are noticing how much nicer my skin is. I didn't use it for acne. I'm 41 years old with sensitive skin. It's the only retinol I could use. It has smoothed my textured skin so much. Also I am trying to prevent fine lines and wrinkles. I also use Cerave Daily moisturizing lotion for normal to dry skin. It had hyaluronic acid and 3 essential ceramides. I love these products so much.

I was gonna say that retinol is not enough and tretinoin is the gold standard. Glad you went back to derma and trusted fhe process. Just continue the tretinoin. Kudos!

Sometimes when you start retinol you will have breakouts. I started about 3 months ago. In the beginning I had acne. I had not had acne in years. I refused to give up on the product. The acne went away and it has made my skin so much smoother. I'm so happy with it. I also use Cerave daily moisturizing lotion with 3 essential ceramides and hyaluronic acid. Although it's a daily moisturizer I use it at night over my cerave retinol. I use Neutrogena Ultra sheer moisturizing face serum with 60t spf. Remember using retinol can make your skin on your face sun burn easily so you will want to find a spf for your face.

use bezoyl peroxide in the morning for your acne and then use this retinol serum at night for the post acne marks. don't use them together and always moisturize after applying them on your face

​@@fflubbleI just read on the internet..that as benzoyl peroxide is an oxidant and retinol an antioxidant..it's advisable to not use them together for they would cancel their effects out .. theoretically at least

Peroxide is very skin drying and irritating. I don't recommend using it everyday.

I don't believe I had any purging with the cerave. I started with only using it 2-3 times a week for about 2 months before switching to applying it everyday. :)

I use this Cerave serum in the evening and a propolis serum in the morning (+ spf 50 everyday), and I had no problem at all with my rosacea, it didn't trigger anything for me. After couple of months my rosacea greatly improved and now it is almost completely gone. For reference I have sensitive skin, normal to dry and prone to rosacea (it runs in the family). And if you're curious about the propolis serum, it is the ''Some By Mi - propolis B5 calming serum''.

I know I'm probably too late, but I've been using the face wash 2x daily plus the retinol three times a week (began with two) and it's been working well for me. It's probably fine since you're just washing your face with it, and not leaving it on as an active ingredient.
