Recovery from infidelity is mainly dependent on the ability of the betrayed partner to trust the betraying partner again. Sometimes, despite sincere efforts, the betrayal just can't be erased and trust can't be restored. In that case, even if the betraying partner deserves another chance, the betrayed partner still can't be faulted for being unable to trust again. In this case, the relationship is best ended.
@TheRockinDonkey4 ай бұрын
If someone doesn’t want to remain in a relationship, they can’t be faulted for it. They don’t need a reason, they can, however, be faulted for not meeting any responsibilities they owe the former partner and any children they have.

Get a divorce. Op's family is more scared of the fact that if op successfully divorces that'll inspire other unhappily married people in the family to finally get a divorce. "She's put in so much effort into our relationship" yeah, because she got caught. She fully knows what she's going to lose. (lol she f*cked a guy she supervises. She can kiss her job good bye if that gets out). It won't help knowing she has op's family in his ear telling him not to divorce. Op sounds like he was already doing the work of a single parent prior to filing for a separation. Op doesn't need her. She doesn't care about the kids but she will weaponize them against op if she gets any inkling from them they really want her approval.

Ah, yes, the "marriage is forever no matter what" bullshit. In a perfect world, sure. But I stayed way too long in an abusive marriage because I was afraid: afraid of the unknown, afraid of not being able to do it on my own, afraid of my family's disappointment; my mother was one of the loudest voices against divorce. The irony? She was on her second marriage. It took me way too long to realize a theme with her was "different rules for me than for thee."

I can't understand how these people are thinking. If you cheat and your husband finds out, just use sex and it will shut up the husband and will make them stop divorce as well as gaslighting and victim blaming. If you cheat on your wife, gaslighting and use violence to make her scared and confused and then blame them for everything they have done wrong to the wife. If that didn't work, they will promise everything in the book to fix it but still cheat on them. 😐😑😮💨

Wife is obviously the AH, nothing to add here. I would like to point out that OP seems to dodge how he may have contributed to that (dont' overriding the main responsability on the wife). But "i have been working 80-90h a week just to provide for my family and offer them the dream life" is often a big cop out to not carry any responsibility of the relationship. First, you worked that much FOR YOU, don't hide behind your kids. And did you make this decision to work that much as a couple unilaterally ? He claims she never expressed her discontent, i call cap on that. I bet she expressed it, he dismissed her, she gave up after a few times, he didn't care enough to remember basically. Wife saw all that, and was willing to give herself to anybody who would give her attention, even a morbidly obese guy. None of that invalidating the responsibility of the cheating, the lying, the deception and "gaslighting" of the wife obviously, who should have put MORE energy into communicating and risking entering conflict
