It's gotta be mentioned how phenomenal the co-op was. The game felt very built around co-op, with it's emphasis on challenges, weapon leveling, difficulty settings, new game plus, and general mayhem. There's a lot do if you included another player. Grinding the endzone challenge with my friend was so fun, even if it was a glorified firefight challenge.

Deadlocked had a baller Couch Co-Op mode that my brother and I played as kids. Being able to giggle together about all of the mayhem and destruction we caused was something I remember to this day.

Easily my favourite ratchet game... It was the first one i played and because it had split screen multiplayer i was playing it with my brother... I would love to see a remake of this game but i highly doubt it since it wasnt as popular as it should back in the day

Of all of the various Ratchet games, I think this one remains my favorite to visit. The pacing is great, Dallas and Juanita are hilarious, and lock-strafe was the best thing ever added. Heck, I've actually gone through and completed the game in first person, just because I could.

I wanted to share my perspective as someone who's currently playing Deadlocked defensive. The Holoshield Launcher helps stand ones ground, so a lot of my ranged weapons got used more. Freeze mod was constantly used to get out of the Holoshield and attack enemy's with Magma Cannon or Scorpion Flail (Whom both were the ones with freeze).

Holoshield Launcher is this game is pretty fun once you slap a damaging mod type to them. Then you can just throw them onto stationary targets for extra DoT

One thing worth mentioning is how Deadlocked got rid of the fixed sideflips while strafing in favor of omni-directional double jumps. This was such a good change and I was disappointed they immediately reverted it in the following games.

The Holoshield is god tier on the higher difficulties. It’s no Shield Charger, sure, but being able to place an invincible barrier or two where you need it is great, as you can give yourself some breathing should your health be low... or keep your bolt multiplier up ;p Throw either shock or freeze on it and now it either does decent damage or even further keeps enemies off your back, as the upgraded Omnishield sort of “pulses” back towards attackers. Even getting it to upgrade isn’t hard, if you actually use it, it’ll level up with the rest of your arsenal.

I experienced many problems involving freezing and failed saves. After completing many levels in championship mode, it saved my progress but erased all my badges, weapons, armor, helper bots and other upgrades! Extremely frustrating! 😖 And why does this game not offer Qwark or other popular NPC characters as a possible skin???

Great video, and props on being the first who, as far as I recall, mentionned the fact that level 11-99 on weapons go by really quickly! I feel like it's an important thing to point out, otherwise the game sounds like a pain to 100% (even though you technically don't need to max all weapons to have unlock everything iirc)

Yeah before I played Deadlocked I heard about how weapons go up to 99 and was a little intimidated by that lol, so I wanted to make it a point that it does actually go pretty fast to level them up to that point. Glad you enjoyed the video!

Great review, glad you gave the game a shot! While I prefer UYA, you're on point about Deadlocked doing a better job in regards to what it's going for. UYA put more emphasis on combat, but didn't improve it much over GC, which has more stuff to offer, whereas Deadlocked goes all in on combat, making it the most refined R&C combat of the PS2 games. Where would Deadlocked land on your ranking btw?

Honestly it's tough to say, GC has always been my favorite but the older I get I find the original creeping closer and closer to taking the top spot. And experiencing Deadlocked was just so so so much fun, but for now I'd still say it's sliiightly below those two. So I guess it'd go something like GC >= RC1 > Deadlocked >> UYA. It's been years since I played any of the PS3 games so I don't have too strong of an opinion on them but going from memory if I had to say I think Crack In Time would be just below Deadlocked, and Tools below UYA.

If I remember right I think it's $15 on the Playstation Store on PS3, which is what I recorded it on for this video, though the port has a lot of little graphical issues. If you have a computer to emulate it on give it a shot there too! Hopefully you'd have better luck than I did lol

I have more fond memories with ratchet deadlocked than with up your arsenal because my parents managed to buy this game for me the summer I turned 12 and HOLY SHIT DID I HAVE ALOT OF FUN. I remember liking how the ratchet and clank series got dark for this title and the combat was sooo good too. I remember unlocking the gangsta mode for firing your vipers and thinking that was the dopest shit ever. Plus I remember xplay reviewed this and gave it a good score as well. With up your arsenal however I only rented it that summer of 2006 for a weekend and didn't get far on it and I didn't own it til 2015, maybe I should go back and beat it

I got my PS2 around the time I got my first job. Since the PS3 had just come out, I was able to pick up PS2 games for cheap. I didn't pick up Ratchet: Deadlocked because I was told it was a spin-off game. After watching this video, I realize the error of my ways.

Played it (on Hard mode you p#%$y) Loved it even better then the seconed game, what bother's me is that we will never have another Ratchet Deadlocked story like that again, plus were were supoes to meet some of the heroes that we saw in the end of the scene, but that was cut from the game, as it was rushed
