Yeah definitely, I feel the same way looking at how far Naughty Dog has come since the Crash Bandicoot days. Sly of course has always been one of my childhood favorites so being able to go back to them now and really appreciate the writing and the characters has presented the series to me in a new and interesting light. Wasn't Clockwerk's entire reason for living so long because of Hate? He says in the first game and I quote, "Revenge is the prime ingredient in the fountain of youth. I've kept myself alive for hundreds of years with a steady diet of jealousy and hate, awaiting the day when I would finally eclipse your family's thieving reputation." The best way I can see the Hate Chip is like the Horcruxes with Voldemort in Harry Potter. You can kill Voldemort's body, but you can't truly kill him until the objects of power he tied himself to are destroyed. Amazing video! Hilarious too lol.

I had no issue with Neyla merging herself with Clockwerk. The problem for me is her name and the fact that she was rhe final villain. What would have made this game a perfect 10 for me was if slowly we could see Clockwerk taking back control. Would have made the ending a hundred times better

4 years late to this video but I have to say I love the clock-la plot. Neylas betrayal was so shocking and for her to be at the centre of it all does make sense. Immortality makes sense because clockwerk was once alive and then became robot for the same reason.

im late for this but i like how clockwerk is a metaphor for hate and what it does this is an owl who using both tech (and magic) to make an imortal body with one purpose kill cooper and yes sly killed them twice but only way to kill hate is cut off a source and let that hate did and remember clockwerk is centuries old the only thing keeping him alive was that hatred of the cooper family but once that hate doesnt have a source to feed it it dies and we see his body erode to dust to nothing as if he was never there to begin with sorry for my rant but give clockwerk i love his character

I bought this game a year ago and I thought it was great because I really enjoyed the basic gameplay if the first but like many games in this era I suffered the stuck curse with the helicopter boss fight and I really want to beat this game.

Clockla shit aside powering through is definitely worth it. Of course I can't say yet for certain considering I haven't finished the Jak trilogy yet, unlike Ratchet which I've been playing since I was little, but I think out of the three original trilogies the Sly series has the most rewarding characters and story to watch evolve and unfold. Sly 2's held in the eyes of a pretty decent chunk of Sly fans eyes to be the best of the series, it always has been in my book. I'd definitely revisit it if I were you

Honestly same, but I've come to really appreciate it a lot more. My only real gripe with Sly 3 which I know I'll keep even after revisiting is that it's a flashback game which just kills all the tension because you know everyone will turn out okay

My faults with it mainly lie with the gameplay, with so many annoying minigames. It's otherwise great in terms of presentation and story, even though the tension does lessen significantly, but that's not really much of an issue when coming back to it.

I replayed it about 2 or 3 years ago and I do remember finding so many different minigames feeling quite tacky. And yeah despit the whole flashback thing I do think its presentation and story was possibly the best of the whole series. Honestly the fact they got rid of clue bottles and treasures has always been my second big problem that always bothered me cause I loved them

I couldn't finish sly 2 because the game glitched on me & i got stuck on jean bisons lumber camp even though i already beat him . Just as soon as i was running to hop inside the battery my mom turned off my ps2 the following day i was trying to play but the game glitched & i couldn't move on to the next level

I loved this game to death as a kid, but one thing always bothered me. I played the game in norwegian, and the entire game was dubbed in norwegian except the final cutscene at the end. It suddenly changed to swedish. Altough I had no problem understanding it, it always bothered me that they dubbed the entire game into norwegian except for the verry last cutscene at the end of the game 😂

I'm still wondering how no one at Interpol were questioning Neyla's sudden proclamation of Carmelita being "Guilty". I mean, Chief Barkley COULD'VE known something was fishy when A: Neyla suddenly framed Carmelita out of the blue and B: She only had ONE pic as her "Evidence" and just a "Word of mouth" from her and the Contessa. Unfortunately, we don't know if Chief Barkley ever knew something was up or not, or if he was involved with the overall ClockWerk case, just appeared at the end of the game in one/two small scenes. Overall, Neyla's scheme to "Frame" Carmelita sounds as believable as Penelope being a "Villain" in Thieves in Time: Pointless, wrong and just plain stupid. Even if the Cooper Gang were captured, what's the point of framing and arresting Carmelita if she was in the dark of the KLAWW Gang members overall to begin with? If it took time for Carmelita to find out that the Panda King IS a villain like Sly explained in Sly 1, then it'd take her LONGER before she'd discover that the Contessa IS a secret member of the KLAWW Gang.
