16:00 - "You are good enough when the client calls you. When they call you, you are already qualified for the job. Something you have done, your reputation, your body of work; Something you have done and got you the call to begin with, the game begins. Game is not about proving yourself to that person. But the person is already a good fit for you. So if you already have success in the work you have done, and people keeping praise upon you. Next time out, when anybody calls you including the same client, I want you to double the price. " 16:51 - " Don't take into consideration what's school you have been to, what degree you got, what city you live in, and how many awards you won; because none of that matters. IT'S THE INTERNAL BELIEF THAT MATTERS." Oh gosh!! Chris and Ben's sharing session is priceless. The Futur never want us to devaluing ourselves. This a true form of self-appreciation and self-love, and I think its one of the most important part of being an artist. We often get devalued by our society as they always want you to "lower the price" and say "It's easy to do that". But I am so grateful your videos teach so much about how to value yourself, because WE ARE WORTHY. Love you Chris, thanks for being who you are and change to the world !! This is truly a psychotherapy session that I don't deserve :')

I’m now either relearning or learning for the first time, the many things I’ve missed during a decent career. But I need to remind myself, as Ben probably has, that he was born with raw talent. Because the person who is interviewed is open and very honest. The interviewer asking the right questions at the right time. The interview is easy to listen to because of the soft and clear tone of the conversation. It's obvious that both of you respect each other. Thanks for this. This is such an important conversation. Artists especially aspiring ones get discouraged to keep going with the fear of not figuring out how to monetize their work. This was very helpful to me. I've been a paid freelance copywriter for a few months now and have been using Upwork to find clients. Like Ben, I didn't know what to charge clients and I let them decide what they wanted to pay. Ben is right, clients on Upwork want to pay pennies on the dollar for creative work that literally takes hours of your time because there are freelancers out there that will accept that. I'm going with the advice of "keep pushing the ceiling until you hit your limit". Thank you!

Confidence. It really all comes down to confidence. I appreciated that point on the "impostor syndrome". I've had some insecurities around that, because I don't have a certificate/diploma/degree in graphic design. My background and formal qualifications are in urban/city planning, but I've been a self-taught graphic designer for 14 years. This discussion really helped to give me some new perspective to move past feeling like an impostor or poser. Thanks!

What a massive confidence boost for me and other designers. First time I started charging 5k+ after charging $100 for logo systems. Most people rejected my pricing but slowly and surely the right clients are coming in as the old are weeding out - this channel is awesome

Adam Talic first off, congrats!! When were you able to do this and how/why were you able to do it? Details please.
@MozzzyBit37 жыл бұрын
The Futur I got into freelancing about a year ago. Took time off it as I got jealous of how well other great designers and agencies were doing and I took that very negatively. It's been a month since I revived my brand and found your channel. I watch the videos about pricing, confidence and CORE everyday. I'm still new to design game and my financial status atm does not allow me an investment into the CORE workshop and toolkit (paying off my parents bills). Studying the customer diagnosis and the trojan storage case study carefully It helped me literally say to myself: "you know what, f*ck it" and pop in a range with 4 zeros to potential clients. All of them had a bunch of designers in mind. First 3 rejected my offer as I proposed the diagnostic phase and my services and I was well above their budget - I honestly thought the rejections would drag me down to giving up again but I felt good about them. I know I was heading in the right direction and that the right client has not yet found me. So I am currently sticking to that price because I totally believe in myself and the way I can form a team. If I can trust a client to trust me, it may look like a risk to them but I'm so ready to tackle it. I feel like something just clicked. I stepped out of my (very big) comfort zone and took a risk, my mum doubts I'd get any clients asking "that much" and that I need a degree to back it up but my mentality has completely changed and I won't be stopping trying to hustle and inspire others. (it's 3:30am HAPPYY NEW YEAR!)

This is so eye opening conversation , usually all so called big designers just talks about the Do,s and Don'ts and some software tool which they prefer (where people thinks that's where he got that) but its totally about mindset , symmetrical logic, self confidence and saying you are worth for that . i am not much of a graphic guy but i am slowing getting into as i am running out of job the one which i always wanted to be (concept artist ) . Congratulate Ben (and tons of thanks for sharing your experience ) and Chris you really saving lots of creative minds life....Cheers looking forward to more on same !

I didn't want to "lose my time" watching these two videos, but more of gained time instead of losing it, I gained confidence in at least trying to start to sell my knowledge. I never believed in me when it came to designing, because everything I ever created was always jury rigs, improvisations of how to do something that sometimes made everything harder and/or bizarre to work with. However, after watching these two videos, I want to at least try to have a start, even though I am kind of in this point. I'll learn what I need and don't know and become better, while finally having a start. Thank you so much for these videos!

Wow, really on point video. I'm going through the same things as Ben, and I feel like we have the same mind set and personality on charging people for work. I didn't major in design and have always had that impostor feeling ever since I started doing design seriously. And because of school, most of my friends are business and computer science majors, it's really great to see the mind sets of designers. When talking about making design into a successful business, a lot of videos out there will teach you how to earn passive income selling icons and t-shirts. It's refreshing to see this video taking another point of view, putting the emphasis on quality other than quantity.

Created my first logo a while back after I graduated and asked for a $500 price tag. The research that I had to do, the branding, the logo styles and it's application to merchandise through a few mock-ups and a month's worth of work; seems to have been a lot for that price range now. Watching this and a few videos prior, about valuing once work and having that confidence to go along with it, really does help all of us here trying to get our feet wet within this industry.

I'm a graphic designer/an aptitudinal artist/an artist from the womb! (LOL) I really, really appreciate this, The Futur... I no longer fear to ask the price my design work is WORTH! Tonight I happened to be on YT viewing hairstyle tutorials and since I'm subscribed to several graphic design tutorial channels, Ur video pops up on my "Recommended" list! It's like magic! Ur Part 1 & 2 videos were definitely meant for me to see! I've been contemplating going back to school to enhance my design skills and achieve a higher degree just so that I CAN CHARGE MORE FOR MY DESIGNS, albeit I already do great design work because my clients tell me! And I always feel like I've cheated myself in the deal! Hmmm.... (I just recently sold an awesome logo for $60! I even had to do some extra work on it and didn't even charge extra after the client offered. Because like Ben, I "set the price" for $60. SMH)

Great video! Focus on your strengths, and not your weakness. Noted.

Super glad I've come across this video. I'm a student and have done one logo design so far for £50. The guy was a nightmare and had to revise the design so many times. After watching this I can really see my value to a client as a designer. And I'm going to keep this in mind in future. This information is so insanely helpful, my teachers at University are never going to help me as much as you guys are. Thank you

I showed this channel to my entire class today. I had to do a presentation about my plans when I finish my degree in a few months. I added in the value of this channel and the way it is helping me understand the business side of design. The lecturers thought it was great and asked me to send the links to the channel so they'll be checking you guys out, hopefully they'll implement some of this advice in the future. I'm from a small town in South Wales in the UK, and the fact that this channel is here helps so much. Keep the content coming, its awesome

This is so helpful, you have no idea. For the most part im pretty confident, but i still suffer from imposter syndrome. I’m lucky that my wife reminds me how good i am. Thank you!
