WOW!! HOLY $#!+. I was looking online for solutions to help my own plantar fasciitis from all the miles of running. Out of dozens of other "professionally" developed videos, yours has been the most helpful. I was going through your videos to help educate myself on better foot health. I'm impressed with your level of scientific knowledge, passionate delivery, and focused dedication. You're wicked smart, and this is coming from a person who's around a lot of traditionally trained intellects all day long (Harvard-MIT). I definitely will be following your career path. I make it my business to understand people who use the STEMs fields to help life and society. You're using the fundamental understanding of evolutionary biology and actually applying to behavioral modification rather than circumventing that process which has taken millions of years to develop. Mother nature has already come up with many of solutions to problems that we try to solve with "quick" fixes. Thank you for using life science logic to educate the masses. Keep up the great work! Thank you.

Omigosh. Listen to him!! I was a dancer (ballet) and an extreme athlete for most of my life. Obviously, I've had multiple injuries and many surgeries over the course of my life. Back when the first doctor told me I had PF, it was the least of my problems, and frankly, I don't think they really knew what to do about it, then. Fast forward to now, although I've always been an active person and I was taught to "push through the pain", my body is so messed up, because I never dealt with the PF properly. Compared to most of the residual affects of thinking I was invincible, and ending up in the hospital because of that mindset; the PF didn't seem like that big of a deal. But, it sure is, now. Learn from your elders, like me. :)

I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for dedicating a whole channel to PF over a decade ago 🙏🏼😩 i started feeling excruciating pain yesterday and had to go to urgent care. I thought I broke my foot while sleeping 😅 could barely walk. It was so sudden and so VIOLENT. The first time I have ever felt this pain in my foot in all 34 years of life. I was desperate once I got to urgent care and accepted the oral steroids RX. I didn’t have time to do any research beforehand. I’m not sure if I had mild PF throughout all these years unknowingly but all I can say is this pain is debilitating! I feel that everyone I have explained the pain to doesn’t believe me or thinks I’m being dramatic with how truly unbearable this is. Your channel means so much to me at this challenging time. I’m going to educate myself on everything there’s to know about PF. Thank you again. I hope wherever you are, you are healthy and completely healed of PF 🙏🏼

I'm 72 and got PF first time this year. I think I messed up my foot cutting grass and due to my age and new unfitted shoes. I got new shoes, expensive inserts that the podiatrist recommended. nothing worked. finally went to a shoe store where they fitted my shoes. The ones I bought in the self service line were too tight. They also fitted me with inserts. It was like instant pain relief. I can walk again. I now where "New Balance" shoes. I had a specialist appointment with a different podiatrist and paid was all gone so I canceled the appointment.

Exactly! Couldn't have said it any better. We should trust our body and let it do what it's meant to do. I'm glad you explained this, because if not, I would have kept icing my feet, yikes.

I appreciate your insights. but fyi cortisone fixed my pf. I had had it for over a year and tried a few things without success. 10 minutes after the cortisone shot, I was pain free. I haven't had another flare up of of for 20 years since. I only do minimal maintenance with morning massage ball rolling and occasional icing. fast forward 20 years and I have pf again. if I can't get rid of it with massage etc then I will consider cortisone again. but that's just my experience. all the best to you.

Not sure I agree 100%. I suffered from PF for decades. It got to the point that I could barely walk. I went to a doctor for some bad, long-term headaches for which he prescribed a month long trial of Meloxicam. After a month, I still had the headaches, but my PF was gone. That was two years ago and I haven't suffered from it since. I'd also like to add that inflammation CAUSES damage.

Thank you! Ive been dealing with PF for about a year/half now and not even doctors etc could help me. Ive tried literally everything but I've just now seen some of your videos and there genius. Ill be letting you know how everything goes and thank you again!

You are welcome! And I know how that desperation feels, so sorry to hear you are at that point :( And I am so glad you have seen my videos! A lot of my information is completely different than most of the internets plantar fasciitis advice. For example, no stretching till trigger points are taken care of, why your hips being tilted too much can cause plantar fasciitis etc etc. check out my website for tons of free information and more :) www.pfsurvivalguide.com And yes, let me know how it goes!! I know what its like to be in that position you are and I felt like nothing would fix the pain.
@got68969 жыл бұрын
Yes, will do! Also, do you have any tips on what I can do workout wise to prevent getting PF again. I think the reason why I got it is because of improper running and also over running. When I ran my biggest problem was that I didn't have enough endurance so I started running alot of mileage all of the sudden. What else can I do other then running mileage that will build leg strength and endurance?
@freeheelpainhelp9 жыл бұрын
Read the book "ready to run" by Kelly starrett. It is exactly what you need in every respect. Do not run until the pain is gone 24/7 for a few weeks. And mix it up, throw bicycle and swimming into the mix :)

What do ou do if the pain is SO BAD? I cannot take this amount of pain without anti-inflammatory....really mine is that BAD. I see that it is going in a downward spiral but what can I do? I just had cortisone shot today cuz that is all the podiatrist offered. I want to start trying your methods but right now.........just barely walking .......any advice PLEASE!!!! and as for inserts ......they hurt too guess I gotta power thru with them??????
@deeenst35219 жыл бұрын
So...what do you do? Do you rest it? I can barely walk right now. I have been pain free since finding your video two years ago. But....I hurt my knee and the PF came back. Oh...I get it, I have to scrape it, thank you so much!!!

You're so nice to share with us it's been 6 years since I've experienced PF. It's back again. Someone didn't like my stability shoes so I tried another shoe. Here I am again. Trying everything you suggested. I'm not going back to the podiatrist who put me in an air cast for 6 weeks, then finally got a shot. You're great!! Thank you.

After a lot of research i found out that it is not inflammation, so it is not plantar fasciitis, but the cause of the pain is bad blood circulation. So it is called plantar fasciosis. So i changed my diet, i used toe spreaders, and i made warm baths to my feet 3-4 times a day. I also used thermo-gel once every three days. Within one month the pain stoped. I had plantar fasciosis for almost one year. So keep your feet warm no matter what.

William, in your book it states to use ice for a few minutes after the whole trigger point and scraping routines. What's the difference between this video and what's stated in the book? Or are you just making sure we don't over-ice and think it's the solution to our problem?
@freeheelpainhelp9 жыл бұрын
Very great point!! I was waiting for someone to point this out :) The reason I have icing methods in the book is because people are going to ice regardless. And in the beginning of the icing chapter I mention that it does not fix the cause of the plantar fasciitis. It is in the second paragraph of the icing section. It is unfortunate that icing does not help, and I really want people to know that, but I also understand that most people swear by it. So I figured I should have some methods because icing doesn't really do anything. I hope the explanation in the book, stating it does not fix the causes of plantar fasciitis, helps to clarify that :) Thanks for pointing that out!!

When you had erythomelalgia, was it in both feet? Or just the foot you injured? I sprained my big toe on my left foot a month ago, now I have what I think is erythomelalgia in all my toes on both feet. Wondering what the heck is going on.
