So what’s the lesson we’ve all learned here? This game should’ve gotten delayed for another year. Especially since we had to wait months for NG+ to be released, the third act of the story felt rushed, and a lot of extra content was cut from the final product. The fact that Sony most likely rushed this game out because they wanted a big release for 2023 and the hack that happened to Insomniac months later really hurt the company.

The game should have been much longer. I was disappointed to find out that 2 was going to take the same amount of time to complete as one, but all the Insomniac shills were talking how "20 hours is more than enough", and what did we get? An incredibly rushed game with a lot of wasted potential, the game didn't even have weather change day one.

The 2nd game is actually shorter by a large margin than the first game. Especially with the advanced movement abilities and the combat being streamlined it makes the gameplay loot even more short which isn't a bad thing but also isn't a good thing. And the boss fights are trash compared to the first game. The opening is strong. yes. But that doesn't make up for how short the game is. The vulture and electro fight from the first game beats every boss fight in the second game. And the Final boss from the first game beats the final boss of the second game. Otto vs Peter hit home more and felt like it had more weight than miles and Peter tag teaming venom and hitting that couch co-op on him. Straight put Harry on blacked 😢😮😂 they straight up jumped my boy in the finale like it was fair. Plus its hard to justify how they struggle to fight venom in the finale when we watch them beat Sandman into a coma in the first 5 mins of this game. Literally miles could've catapulted across the city and slumped venom before he would have time to react like he did in the opening fight.

Insomniac underutilized and fumbled Felicia Hardy / Black Cat so hard in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 lol. Look, I'm not saying that Black Cat needed to be the biggest part of Marvel's Spider-Man 2's story, but the developers gave her the best chase sequence in like any Spider-Man videogame that had Doctor Strange portals and that showed off some of the coolest gameplay mechanics in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 just for her to announce that she has some random girlfriend in Paris and then she just leaves... What?! They had potential with Black Cat only to chalk her up to a Miles Morales mission and never have her in any interaction with a SYMBIOTE SUIT SPIDER-MAN. Missed opportunity.

Venom should've been Kraven after Act 2 hunting down criminals to be a better spider-man. That way we didn't lose him so soon and gave the player more motivation and made sense having two spidermen vs powerful two villains. An end world scenario was boring and was mostly off screen. Harry's reasoning was weak. Having Venom bully us in the open world pretending to be civilians and attacking us would have been amazing like Mr shakedown from yakuza. As for Venom he barely spoke which still bothers me why they hyped up Tony Todd.

They definitely should’ve delayed the game to this year. A lot of content was cut. Sony obviously wanted to rush it. The third act was undercooked. And we had to wait months for updates like NG+ and even new suits. And now, we have no DLC. The first game, we knew DLC was coming before the game even came out, and we didn’t have to wait 6 months for NG+. And I don’t blame Insomniac. I blame Sony (for rushing the game for a 2023 release) and the hackers. Also, if there was going to be no DLC, at least announce it sooner instead of a year after the game came out. We almost got a Beetle DLC, a Carnage DLC, and a Spider-Verse DLC. They even canceled the GTA Online style multiplayer Spider-Man game. I hope they don’t cancel the Venom spin-off game we were supposed to get…

You are the ones imposing this deadline on these devs, you can easily just taken an L for one holiday season and put out a generational sequel the following year! In case anyone didn’t know and what wasn’t already discussed in the video: SILK LEAKED GAMEPLAY AND POSSIBLE MAP EXPANSION: There’s leaked gameplay of silk but she has most of Miles’s animations (prob because he’s smaller than Peter) while she’s in a new playable area that’s West of sm2’s current map with it being closer to New Jersey. (If the player glitched themself out of bounds using one of the trains, they would be able to actually explore this area of the map as it does appear on the map despite it not being fully rendered and not meant to be accessible by the player, but the player may have been to at one point or maybe in the future. However, I believe this was patched now, but I’m sure someone will find more when they use boundary break mods when the PC Poet arrives CUT BLACK SUIT AND VENOM CONTENT: There’s leaked cut content gamplay of sm2 that showed destructible environments and with some more missions with Peter having the symbiote. Also with this being said Venom was also to make more appearance throughout the game (probably explaining why there were way more unused Tony Todd voice lines than what was actually present in game) with him actually seemingly ambushing the player in the open world in random encounters or at the very least they’re being another mission with Venom in the city like how most of the marketing showed. (I’m not making this stuff up either as wishful thinking of what could’ve been-this is real, there’s videos online you can find of this cut Venom content) LEFTOVER DEV BUILD CONFIRMING DLC CONTENT: And finally on the same day they dropped NG+, they also accidentally left in a dev build in the game that could be accessed in the main menu so you could view the beetle dlc missions (about 8 missions I believe) but you couldn’t actually play them, these beetles missions were labeled as “Act 4” in the mission list so these missions were definitely planned at some point because the base game only has 3 acts. All this did was 100% confirm that the beetle DLC was real and planned so even if the carnage and spiderverse DLC weren’t real, we know the beetle DLC was. Not only that there was also game playable saves leftover from the developers of unfinished versions of the game. There was also another dev build that was accessible while in gameplay. (This was shortly patched out of the game with an update less than 24 hours later but the footage is still out there and the damage has already been done) To be honest when the PC port arrives I won’t be surprised if we find out some about cut content or plans, but I honestly don’t know what else we’d find at this point-we almost know everything planned up until SM2’s release and even Wolverine because of the playable build that released.

I thought that the story of Spider-Man 2 felt a bit empty at some points, but now hearing about all this cut content and Insomniac only using 10% of Tony Todd's line, all of this makes sense now. If only they knew there was going to have been so much on the cutting room floor, I wonder if they would've switched the idea of having Venom be the main antagonist to Kraven being the main antagonist. Because at times during the story mode, Kraven felt like a bigger threat than Venom did, had Venom have been given more dialogue then this probably wouldn't have been a problem.

The writing is incredibly disappointing, for having so many heavy hitters in a game the story ironically feels very inconsequential and stake-less. Way too many cooks in the kitchen. This game didn't need Venom or that female symbiote I forgot the name of. This should've been Goblin and Kraven on the side and the third one should've been Eddie Brock Venom (OG GOAT) and Carnage vs Peter and Miles. Extra nitpick is how incompetent they made Peter in this game and I don't care about Insomniac Miles at all. He's boring and has an annoying voice. The success of Spiderverse doesn't mean they have to shoehorn him into everything. Peter's symbiote arc is so special because he endures it all alone and by himself, having Miles with him undermines his arc

The reason for the lack of post-launch DLC is really due to the game itself essentially being DLC of the first game sold as a full priced game with significantly less missions than the first game with less fulfilling side missions. It's doesn't really make any real graphical, gameplay, or narrative leaps from the first game either.

The game wasn't horrible but we had a lack of serious villain interaction here. With the exception of Kraven there was no real threat level from anything in the game. For some reason Insomniac decided to "reform" several of it's best villains and had Kraven kill off others without us even really doing anything with them. Add the fact that they nerfed the gadgets that Peter had and I wasn't really impressed. I get that they wanted it not to feel like a Batman game apparently, but they seemed to forget that Peter is a genius who can and does make gadgets like his web shooters! The way they turned his gadgets into these generic toys wasn't good in any way, and the recharge on them was just horrible.

Insomniac gets away with stuff like this because they know they’ll make money regardless because it’s Spider-Man. Those arkham games were fun to play, had plenty of content in the base game, and had great dlc. Insomniac Spider-Man games are fun, but they’re always missing things that should’ve been there from the start, and they’re too short (especially when you have 2 spidermen and venom, i think Peter had the suit for like 2-3 days and he didn’t even do anything that bad he was just a little rude to his friends and aggressive with enemies, but not doing anything necessary wrong). How the hell do you wait an entire year to reveal you won’t be making any dlc for this short ass game?

I get how you feel. I’m the oldest child in my family my parents have always been proud of my academic accomplishments growing up. Now that I’m in college I recently completed my second year with a 3.3 gpa (my mom wanted me to make 3 at least for the sake of my scholarships) and I’ll never forget for the rest of my life being so excited to tell her I did it. I hated Spiderman 2 with a burning passion. I went back recently Spiderman 1 bought the remaster and like you said there’s so much more to it. Yes the swinging and new stealth moves were better in part 2 but that’s it, everything else is bad. 1st game had better combat variety, enemies were better and more believable, story was Oscar worthy when compared to part 2. Y'know I thought about it for a while and I am sad but also made me think of how each loose end could tie into future games. If we get a Venom game: Carnage, Wraith Spider Man 3 or the Silk game (if we get one in similar fashion to Miles Morales): Chameleon as main villain for silk or as another main villain alongside Norman and Otto in Spider Man 3. Could lead to identities of the spider men/women being leaked, could lead to avengers maybe since whenever peters identity is revealed, he tends to be with Tony stark but that's wishful thinking. Wolverine game: Chameleon because why not Silk, Spider Man 3: Wraith as a possible main player, maybe like our 4th teammate, line up being Peter, Miles, Cindy Moon and Yuri. Taskmaster hopefully, maybe this could tie in with Chameleon leaking the identities and taskmaster revealing who he works for, in which one of the theories is the avengers.

He said on a podcast that they intentionally cut content just to make the MJ missions and to include her more to the story in the end, and if you've seen the leaks you'd know they were make you switch back between Peter and Miles fighting Venom and hordes of symbiotes in the streets, WITH DESTRUCTABLE ENVIRONMENTS!!!!! And the hand where Sweet Baby was all over this, like you said that Hallie mission and the Brooklyn Visions missions were purely added for forced diversity and waste our time, characters having immense plot armor or nerfed into the ground, and overall the most lackluster side content, sorry, most unrewarding side content I've ever seen. Most of the good suits were ones from the movies, and the choices they made on which outfits to add was nonsensical. Not to mention the heaps of bugs, glitches, gamebreaking moments of which there were a decent amount, and felt more like a waste of time toward the end. I used to be of the mindset 2 out of the 3 acts were really good, but the whole game has heaps of problems. They tried to balance Peter and Miles even though this should've primarily been Peter's story, resulting in a clusterf*** of yet again, nonsense. As a Spidey fan, and I mean die hard Spidey fan, this caliber of SM games was something of a dream of mine, the first game blew me away, this game hardly felt worth the 70 bucks and hundreds of hours playing. Only great thing about this game is the swinging, everything else is terrible to an extent. Not gonna be buying the 3rd game with how shafted we all got.
