We are Heather, Bradey, Alexa and Chloe. We purchased an abandoned stone barn in the foothills of the Italian Alps and we are working together as a family to renovate and restore this old stone barn into our dream home.

It’s a real great pleasure to to watch you both such a well adjusted couple, to watch your family grow, and your house too. I am retired Airline pilot in Thailand with my Thai family. It’s great to lose myself in your projects. The Italian residency, feels like the obstacles are demanding a gift under the table, and the log jam would be cleared immediately. I think you are too proud to do that, but I might be wrong on both counts. Great to see your wife smiling and so happy all the time. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us.

I agree Brady’s tireless perseverance is a labour of love and I would also add that it wouldn’t be possible without Heather taking care of their lovely children, helping at the site and doing the film editing. Love the inspiring upbeat music that accompanies these posts. They are such a supportive team. We always look forward to Sundays to see the latest episode.

@barber0611- If you would like to see another REALLY hard working guy, take a look at Escape To Rural France. The guys name is Dan and he's British. I literally bought the shell of a French Chateau. He has worked so hard and impressed so many people that a company that makes tools sent him, FOR FREE, huge boxes filled with their products to help make his work a little easier. He started out knowing virtually nothing about building.

Heather, FYI: to remove sticky material from hands or even stickiness from price tag stickers off glass or plastic you use oil to remove it, then wash oil off with soap & water. I use coconut oil or olive oil, works wonders! 😉 Insulation looks great, good job! 👍🏻

You should consider putting TWO 3-way switches on each side of the bed, so each of you can turn either light on or off from your side of the bed. I did this setup in my parents' house because my dad would fall asleep reading, and my mom would have to gently crawl over him to turn his light off, or get out of bed and walk around to turn his light off.. So basically I treated each light (in their case table lamps) as an individual light being operated by 3-way switches. That ended up requiring Two 3-way switches on each side of the bed. I hope that makes sense. It worked very well for mom and dad for 40 some-odd years.

Lime is added to mortar for several reasons: Improved Workability: Lime increases the plasticity and flexibility of the mortar, making it easier to apply and shape during work. The mortar becomes smoother and easier to spread on surfaces. Increased Adhesion: Lime mortar has better adhesion to bricks, stone, and other building materials, ensuring stronger joints. Vapor Permeability: Lime mortar is more breathable than cement mortar, allowing moisture to evaporate from the structure. This is important for preventing moisture and mold buildup inside walls. Resistance to Movement: Lime mortar is more flexible and can better absorb and disperse stresses caused by temperature changes and minor movements in the structure, reducing the risk of cracking. Self-healing Properties: Lime mortar has the ability to self-heal small cracks. When moisture enters the mortar, lime can recrystallize and fill tiny fissures. Eco-friendliness: Lime is a traditional building material with a lower ecological footprint than modern cement. It is biodegradable and its production is less energy intensive. Adding lime to mortar improves its properties, contributing to the durability, flexibility, and overall quality of the construction.

You're kidding us, right? You could call your new training program "finishing school" - because you were already making a lot of progress with all this manual labor. It was obvious... so now you are more strategic about it, I guess. But Kudos to you! I always felt that there was enough work on the homestead that it wasn't necessary to join a gym... seriously - but it only works if you stay busy with that work on the homestead. Anyway... nice progress in this upload. Thanks for sharing.
