This is interesting because I'm in an interracial marriage and my husband never seemed to mind me going natural or not. I do tie my hair in a scarf. He did have a problem with spending money on hair, he thought it was a waste since I do have hair. He doesn't understand the concept of protective hair styles. He's just frugal and didn't like spending, but I still get what I want. Lol

I was raised by my black stepdad so I’ve witnessed some of these guys stories. It’s nice to see the the whiter people in the relationship haven’t got an issue with their partners natural hair and even encourage it. It’s shows progression an that they don’t expect them to follow Caucasian standards. And also the fact that they respect their partners preferences also.

Honestly I need someone to teach me how to twist like the woman who had shorter hair. My boyfriend is black and has the loveliest kinky curls. He always wants me to twist it but everytime I do , I feel like I’m doing it wrong. He likes it but I’m so self conscious, I don’t want to ruin his hair.

Don't worry hun! ✨ Give yourself some credit, twisting hair is a technical skill and that takes some practice. You can do it. Just keep looking at KZbin tutorials and practice techniques you're comfortable with. After enough tries, I'm sure you're going to be so happily surprised with your progress! ✨ Everyone starts at the beginning, so just believe in yourself too hun x

“White people just wanna play in your hair at all cost” bruh ..... story my current relationship 😭 I stay bobbing and weaving like damn why he always gotta try cuddle my hair !? He said how with white girls they like their hair touched and I’m like “well with a black girl you don’t touch her hair it’s off limits we have secrets “. He still sometimes starts creeping up and wants to touch at it just out of a basic instinct or something 🙄. He’s like “what’s your real hair like/how long is it” and I’m like “You’re never gonna see it so don’t worry about it” 😂. We aren’t on that level yet of having that “talk”.

She wears shower caps everywhere?!!😂😂😂. Silk caps are pretty good for your hair and skin when sleeping. It prevents the oils from your hair to penetrate into your pores and cause acne. I believe that no matter what your cultural background is, it should be worn by everyone.

Monika R the bonnet protects the hair, and helps it to retain moisture. If we were to sleep directly on the pillow, the pillow would draw moisture out of our hair. It also keeps whatever style you have nicer for longer.

I'm dating a Mexican guy at work, from Texas, I moved from NY years ago. I'm a natural 4C but I keep my hair stretched. Its mid back length. Before we started dating, he would see me around work and make smart remarks. Once, I walked passed him at work and he said, "acting like that's all your hair" I turned around and said excuse me? He didn't respond and started walking into his office and I followed him in behind him, loosen my hair as he was turning around and literally shook my hands in my hair and said, "Listen Linda, IS ALL ME BOO! Flipped it and said bye and left. He's my boo now 😏 and I miss him so much( laid off for Rona and we're (quarantined) only thing I think that I hate is when he wants to facetime I have to rush and take my braids down because I stay looking like Felicia off of Friday. 😩

how is the wanting to play with hair about "white people wanting to play with black people's hair?! it's a gesture of affection. i play with my partner's hair because i love them, regardless of the hair texture, and well hair is easier to play with when it's not in braids, a ponytail etc.

I totally agree with you, I got the sense of something going on in the relationship/ marriage. I think the hair is underlining a much deeper backstory that we're not gonna hear. I'm Mexican and we have a word for what your talking about , you just want to play with your babies hair, its not weird or racially charged it's just you want to play with the person you love's hair. My brother has that super curly hair and I love playing with it, I tell him he has very beautiful hair.

@@chynnavindiola58 I wonder if its largely just an aversion to having hair touched at all because of how it affects the hair. My best friend, who is black, is a very touchy person but even she doesn't like having her hair touched. I know that there could be a racial aspect to it for some people, but I think a lot of it is just a cultural difference. For me, having someone run their hands through my hair is relaxing

I don't believe there's an underline issue. Many white people like to touch black people's hair. Twice its happened in a workplace and over a dozen time I've been asked if they can touch it. One week I have straight Brazilian hair, a few weeks later I have goddess twists and then my natural curly hair. They ask questions about my hair in which I take no issue with. It's curiosity. But asking question 🤔 then seeing the reach to my hair. I feel like the matrix trying dodge a person's hand. Its an invasion of my personal space and has a racial undertone even hough to them it's harmless. I have never had a Black, Asian, Middle Eastern or Hispanic person ask to touch my hair or willfully reach to touch it. Some other races have inquired about my hair but not take it to the personal invasion . Which I can attest, many black women have had similar experiences. Even my nephew experienced it when he decided to grow his hair out over the winter break and a teacher touched his mini fro in which he had to tell her she made him uncomfortable in which apologized.

It's also about assuming people's behaviour by their skin colour: if you're white/black/green, this must be your reason, no matter how much you say otherwise. Personally, I can't imagine a relationship in which I won't touch my partner's hair, whatever their ethnicity. But then I'm a straight woman, and men don't usually care about hair that much (theirs, mine or anyone's, for that matter).
