I for my Bday got to experience & witness Johnny Depp who I've ❤for Forever it seems & Jeff Beck. It was shortly after trial in a small venue. It was the most emotional, moving & profound shows I've ever seen or ever will. The positive energy, love we the audience sent to Johnny paled in comparrison to the ❤, gradititute & pure joy he sent out to us. It was SO powerful & moving. But even more we saw 1st hand the deep, respect, love, admiration & friendship Johnny & Jeff had for each other. I've never seen anything like it & likely won't again. It was SO beautiful & pure. I was 😭💔learning of Jeff's death but moreso in thinking of Johnny. A friendship like theirs a rare & precious gift especially these days. The massive hole, more like crator left for Johnny must be epic especially so near the end of that life changing trial. Some time has passed I now think how truly blessed they were to have met & created such a life changing, positively beautiful & epic bond of ❤& friendship. A unique & rare gift you carry for the rest of your days if your lucky & deserving. Its something you'll never forget. To see the ❤these 2 amazing men had for each other something I'll never forget as well.

Sometimes, less is more. This guy has got it. Another person has got it, but can decimate on the guitar with just one single note and you'll know who the artist is by playing one note.... B.B. King.
@klacustoms3 ай бұрын
@@daviddebrequet2563 Yes he does play less by choice sometimes. He can with pinpoint accuracy, take a single note and add vibrato and bend to that single note and you immediately know it's B.B. King playing. A single note like that cuts through to your soul or for me anyway. In music, like with the blues, you're having a conversation. You're telling your own story by using your guitar to communicate with pauses and phrases. The note choices they use is their vocabulary they've built up over the years. Some are more talkative than others while others use less phrases. It's like no two people on earth talk the same way, but are able to understand one another. Some will talk and talk, while others use a vast array of every word in the dictionary to communicate to you. Others, can use just one word to get their point across to reach you as B.B. King would do with a single note vibrato bend sometimes. And by me saying his single note vibrato bend is easy, let me tell you, it is not. I've never ever seen another experienced guitar player play exactly like B.B. King. Another player no one will be able to play exactly like is Edward Van Halen also. Johnny Depp has developed his own vocabulary. Repetitive, but emphasis on what he's saying to you to make sure you didn't miss what he is saying. His voice on the guitar reminds me of the Goodfellas movie gangster with Jimmy Two Times. "I'm gonna go get the papers, get the papers".

I’m not saying that he’s not friends with some of these people but let’s be honest his guitar playing prowess is not the main reason that they shared a stage. When Depp played with Jeff Beck the tickets would sell out, but not on the dates he didn’t play. He helped these ageing stars bring in new fans and they helped him with his rockstar ambitions. Apart from this (pretty average) example, most of the bits of film of him playing on KZbin has his volume so low or with so many other guitarists playing at the same time that it’s hard to hear what he’s playing altogether. I would love to see a show with all-time great Jazz and Classical guitar players critiquing if a blues or rock great can actually play. The answer would be "not really" most of the time. Rock and Blues are simplistic musical forms. . . that's what I love about them.

Johnny is playing a Maybach Albatroz, very good guitars, arguably as good if not better than Gibson Sg series. Johnny has been playing guitar for a very long time and is an established strummer. Enjoyable series you've started Shane!

I think I read he moved to LA to be a musician and fell into acting. He’s also in the Petty video Into the Great Wide Open.

Really pleased you’ve been able to give Johnny a thumbs up. I’ve only seen him onstage with Jeff Beck and he was restrained. But who wouldn’t be with Jeff. You don’t play regularly with Beck unless you’re the real deal

You may want to check out the 1995 self titled album 'P' featuring Johnny Depp, Gibby Haynes and Sal Jenco. It features Chuck E. Weiss, Steve Jones and Flea as well. The song 'Michael Stipe' and the 'Dancing Queen' cover are reason enough to give it a listen.

I've read that he was a guitar player prior to being an actor. He wanted to be a musician and fell into the acting thing. I'm sure having Joe Perry as a friend probably improved his playing. I love how some players that perhaps don't have much musical theory under their belts just try things that often sound pretty good, even when they're not supposed to.....Bryan

I was pleasantly surprised by Johnny Depp and his playing with many other Musicians. His singing is good....and a lot of times his playing in those situations is simple and tasty.

He didn’t doing anything brilliant. But the tone, timing, control on tremolo, bends etc, shows so so much practice. He clearly takes it seriously.

@@Meatball2022 I agree, he’s not one of the best, although I like his acting and films, good vibrato and pretty good feel but to be honest he sounds no better than most rhythm guitarists in bands at my local pub at any weekend and they are amateur bands, people with day jobs not professional. If he’s been playing since he was twelve then I don’t think he HAS practised that much. I think he gets to play with people like Jeff Beck because his fans help to sell out tours. It’s a win win situation, the ageing stars earn money and Depp gets to be a rockstar. I honestly don’t think he’s sharing a stage with Jeff Beck because of his superior guitar playing ability. Beck was one of the greatest guitarists that could have taken his pick of talented players, they were friends so let’s be realistic as to why they played together.
@Meatball20222 ай бұрын
@@johnferry7778 he’s played with plenty of people that don’t need help putting buts in seats. Plus it’s not like they’re advertising that he’s coming. He’s good. Certainly good enough to be a rock star. Great? Not hardly.

Random comment of the day: Back when the Coyotes moved to Phoenix, one of my friends had season tickets. There was a row in front of us. They belonged to Alice Cooper and Dave Mustaine. At the time, 2 dudes that liked to have fun. I know that after all of these years, Dave has morphed into an elderly curmudgeon, but him and Alice were always awesome to see and talk to. And this is the Six Degrees of Johnny Depp. Carry on. Lol. I do mean what I said about the guys. They were ALWAYS cool, ALWAYS. This showed up in my random, recommended watch list. I’m glad it did. Great video!!! Also, that Jimi poster is awesome!!! Where did you(or does anyone else know) get it?!?!? The Cobra poster is pretty funny, too. Cheers!!!

I like his use of upstrokes. It's sophisticated and effective. He maybe picked that up from Jeff. Lot of players kinda forget upstrokes and the completely different tone palette they introduce.

I saw Johnny many times playing with the band the Kidds. He was around 16 years old playing in night clubs. I talked with him one night outside after they played at the Agora ballroom in Hallandale Beach Fl. He was a nice guy and mostly kept to himself. He wasn't a great guitarist but had a great look and played well for the kind of music the Kidds played.
