I still feel that the XR is better for less the price. Sure the screen isn’t as good, it’s a Liquid Retina instead of a Super Retina, has but you wouldn’t notice it from a normal viewing distance. The Xr has a bigger screen and can come in more colours too. And again, it’s a lot cheaper

I’ve had the X since it came out, I have the same issues with Face ID as Marques, it’s good but not as convenient as Touch ID was but otherwise I’m happy with my purchase however, you won’t see me buying a new phone anytime soon, I’ll only upgrade when Apple stops supporting this one. I’d say I’ve got a healthy 5 to 6 years left in this phone and I’m more than happy to carry it for that long.

If there’s one thing you can’t fault Apple for it’s the fact that they continue to support their devices for a respectable amount of time. My iPhone 5 from 2012 only now stopped getting updates on iOS 10, everything still works with this phone and it’s still got a few more years left in it before it starts to become obsolete, when apps stop supporting iOS 10. My iPhone 6 Plus from 2014 is still getting updates and I recon it will continue for at least another 2 - 3 years. I know sometimes it’s not always such a good thing, Apple ruined the iPhone 4 with iOS 8, but that was back when phones were a lot less powerful to begin with. At least for me my iPhone 5 still runs perfectly on iOS 10 and the same with my 6 Plus on iOS 11. This is part of the reason I stick with Apple, I’ve thought about trying other phones but I really don’t care what the name is on the back of the phone as long as it serves its purpose. I don’t buy the latest and greatest every year as soon as it comes out, I use my device until I see a real need to upgrade and I like the fact that I will receive updates for a good chunk of time. The price of the iPhone X is still ridiculous but the fact that it will be supported for many years to come sort of justified my decision to purchase it, I bought it knowing I’m going to be using it for at least 4 years maybe more before I even think about upgrading again. I just wouldn’t buy another phone for that price if I knew it would only be supported for a year or two after purchase, that’s pretty much the case with other phones.

Erick Coffee another most sensible comment. I have the space gray X and I admit it is obviously slower than fingerprint scanner. But oh boy what you mentioned was true - the after shower/sweaty fingers when unlocking using touch id issue. After 2 months using the X, I can honestly tell you I can accept the trade offs between face id and finger print. In some situation i really like the face id, while others I prefer finger print. You can’t have everything can’t you. I would be really absurd to sya its not worth the money kust because it is a split second slower than fingerprint scanner.

Still using the iPhone X 256 GB. The notch doesn't seem to bother me, Face ID is very fast, still not as fast as Touch ID, battery gets me through the day, gaming is a delight, get consistent 55-60 FPS in heavy titles, back glass is weak, had to get it replaced from a third party shop. I would give it a 7/10. The things I want in newer iPhones 1. Higher resolution display 2. Higher megapixel count

Great review! As an owner of the X, everything you said is spot on. My biggest frustration is the split second longer in face id from fingerprint. That, and the notch is pretty big. Also, you’re so right about it being slippery. Mine stays in a case permanently due to this. Had a close call on day 1. If those are all that we find frustrating, I’d say that’s great! I personally bought the X for a few reasons. One, I’m an iOS guy. With my Apple TV, family plan with the wife, and our iPads, I wasn’t going to go any other way. I understand why Android guy stays with those OS. It’s the same reason I stay with mine. I personally like it better. Two, when comparing the X to the 8+, the increased price was worrying. But since I’m on a plan thru my provider, it wasn’t a $1000 hit on the day I bought it. I liked that it was a smaller phone and had a bigger screen. All the other details are nice (camera, display, speed, Animoji’s). But, I won’t be purchasing the next one. When I got this phone, I had a 2-3 year plan in my head. One year is almost gone. I’ll keep it thru 2019. Depending on what happens in September of ‘19, will make my decision for me. Great review as always!!

For people who are saying it's not worth 1k. *My question is have you even used it ?* iPhone don't just take your money for their hardware but also for their software. iOS is more stable than Android. If you have Android phone you will hardly receive 2 or 3 major OS update or its come very late. While in iPhones you can see the old iPhone 5 is getting iOS 12 update. Do you think the lastest flagship like S9, Note 8 will receive Major Android updates after 2 or 3 years ? Probably not ! People who are buying a 1000$ iPhone are not fools, they know what they are paying for. iPhones are not piece of hardwares but also an integrated ecosystem. The matter is simple *Don't like iPhones ? No Way That’s never happened for me. My iPhone 6 (2014) and iPhone SE (2016) are still snappy with no lag on iOS 12. My mom’s iPhone 5s (2013) is still going along and has only slowed down a bit. iOS 12 has definitely improved the lag from iOS 11.

No Way I think you are either being dishonest or haven't actually used an iPhone since iOS 11. Anyone who says iPhone is still slowing down phones without informing their customers is either an android fanboy looking for a reason to throw shade or just a lier. When your battery degrades In IOS 12, the OS informs you about what it will do to your phone to prevent the unexpected shutdowns. But if you don't like it, the OS will tell you how to disable the feature. Apple was slowing down phones before without informing their customers but it really wasn't because of the reasons most fandroids have come to believe. If an iPhone slows down right now, it is probably because of hardware, and really not because of a software update from apple to force you to buy a new phone. This is the honest truth.

Thought I’d left a comment but can’t find it! I’ve had my iPhone X since Day1. Love, love, love it and didn’t think of upgrading till I couldn’t get IOS 17. What am I missing if I don’t upgrade? My X does everything I need. It doesn’t have a single scratch on it because it’s had a full case - back and front - since I bought it and I don’t drop it ! Why upgrade? I’ll check battery life next! I have now owned the X for about three months now and all I can say is that I am really happy with my purchase. When I first got it, I did have some issues with Face ID and the drop down control center did not always pick up when dragging from the top of the screen to the bottom. However, I have just updated to IOS 12.3 and it works like a champ (Oh I also cannot wait for IOS 13)!!! I was able to get the iPhone X on sale for around 599.99 brand new from Total Wireless... Oh and I got a Life Proof Fre case for it just in case I drop it or ding it. I would also recommend the Life Proof Fre case because it does come have a protective screen to cover the phones screen that protects it from scratches

3:36 almost 6 years later, iPhone X is still receiving updates nowadays, still usable (with moderation of course, but still works) and still looks great design wise. It held up perfectly fine, better than the other flagships from 2017 or even 2018.

a lot of it was the folding oled. to avoid having a chin like a lot of other manufacturers, they folded the oled into the phone so it can connect to the motherboard without creating a chin. he even made a video about it, “let’s talk about smartphone chins”

The one thing that strikes me, which I never had with my other iPhones for 6 years now, is that every time I hold it in my hand it still feels really premium. When I switched from the 5s to the 6s, I quickly forget about the price and didn't take care of it that well. But now with the X, I ALWAYS keep it in a case. I really don't understand how you use it without one. Maybe it's just for the videos :D

Same can be said for a lot of Apple products (with a few exceptions). None of them are inherently horrible, in fact a lot of them are actually quite capable and really good! It's just for the price they're asking, I can get devices that offer 80% of what Apple devices have for considerably less. And more often than not I'm able to live without having that 20% Though I have to say no shade to people who buy Apple products, if it has something they need then all power to them. Nothing wrong with buying what works for you

Honestly. The best iPhone I’ve ever had. The speed is unreal and the camera is just amazing. I got it a month after realise and it’s holding up well. My only issue is FaceID with Apple Pay. The best thing about Touch ID is you could reach out and pay. Now you have to move your face to pay

I use an unplugged wireless charger as a stand on my desk so whenever the screen wakes I just look at it and I can read the notifications. Annoying on a table but on a stand it’s nice.

Just bought one yesterday. Spectrum mobile is having a sale for 300 off! I upgraded from the 6s, which I loved, to the 7 plus, which I didn't like. The Iphone X is the perfect size, as fast and mostly faster than my beloved 6s and not too large and heavy...and the display is amazing. I am very happy and satisfied with the iPhone X. I'll keep this one a few years, for sure! Thanks for the review!

Yep I just got my X. I love it the notch doesn’t bother me. The battery life is excellent. The build quality is a premium luxury feel. Which is what apples known for. I’m good for a couple of years now. It’s a perfect size not to big. Fits in your pocket perfectly yet it’s a full screen. Tired of the big bulky phones. They need to leave it this size. The camera is excellent quality. The price is a 1000.00 it’s worth but not worth upgrading in a year. They come out with phones to often. Lol

Martin Schmidt really. Apple claims that it’s the strongest glass in any smartphone. The camera lens is also made out of Sapphire Crystal. The iPhone X also has Stainless Steel and all iPhones have plastic bumpers between the metal and each glass panel. The home button on older iPhones are also made out of Sapphire Crystal. And there is no better Android smart phone than the iPhone X.

I have been going around in circles stay iOS or go android to Samsung 9+ . I have had iPhone from iPhone 4s and love the simplicity ! For me I have the 7 but not sure an 8 or 8 plus would be a big enough step as a contract in the uk is normally 2 years now . The new iPhones are out soon so I need to look to see if the x decreases in price but it’s circles I am having gear be thrown into the 9! My family has iPhone so use iMessage regular and FaceTime is great ! I would say I will probly stay iPhone for comfort knowing them since the havnt had Samsung since the S3 . Funnily enough the iPhones I do like are red and did contemplate the 8plus lol. Great review by the way

I've used a friend's iPhone X next to my 7Plus. The camera on the X is slightly better but only slightly. The main benefit would be the faster processors which make portrait mode shoot and focus faster. It wasn't worth the $1,100+ upgrade though.
