how are you going to shave off 3 minutes off the time for next year? Granted that the weather was bad, with dry pavement you would knock off closer to a minute at most, right? The car is going to need some serious updates. I would say to improve it as much as you can and then start working on the rc-ccr version of the upcoming coupe.

Manual transmissions haven't been faster than autos for a decade or more. There is no way a manual could offer any advantage here.
