As an adult, this was Michael Jackson's second #1. 6 months earlier, he had a #1 with "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough".

The King of Pop before he even knew it. Great song! The OFF THE WALL album was a monster for the time. He was breaking barriers and crossing over. This is one album before the monster album THRILLER, but he knew he wanted to be the biggest artist ever. He had a vision and he brought that to life once he escaped his father's control. Seeing him live a few times in my life I can honestly say that his live performances are the best and there are some amazing artists who can perform live. He was 21 when he made this song/album.

This is from the album right before Thriller. His last simple and plain video. Two yeas after this he would explode all over the world.

Just even try to imagine how this album dropped on the world in 1979. In London it was so massive there was nowhere you couldn’t miss hearing it 24/7. Maybe you’d have to ride a Harrods elevator all day to actually miss it! Or a mortuary. Off the Wall = MASSIVE

OMG he's so young!! You are right! He was 21! It was 1979, the year I got married!

BEST ALBUM OF MY LATE TEENS! I literally wore the grooves out of the plastic.

After working with Quincy Jones on the movie adaptation of The Wiz, Michael knew he wanted Q to produce his next album. If you can believe it, the record company people pushed back, arguing that Quincy was a jazz guy and wouldn't understand how to produce a pop album. LOLOLOLOL! MJ & Q went on to record three albums and a ton of hit singles together, including this one.

Rock With You is from MJ's first solo album, and I don't care what critics say. It is his best album ever!!! Thank you for appreciating talent when you hear it! Kudos! One Love ❤

Oh God this was the jam back when I was a senior in high school 1980. Still great after 44 years. Shout out to Quincy Jones for producing and Rod Temperton writer and arranger

If you haven’t heard his song off the wall, I think it’s a similar vibe to this song, but better.

Michael Jackson's appeal was universal. He unifies over age, religion, race, class, country, everything. Do his song "Jam" off of the "Dangerous" album.

I LOVE this song &, like you guys, pretty much everything he ever did. The bass line in this is phenomenal & the groove is perfect! The only other singers/groups that groove like he does, IMHO, are Earth Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder & Al Jarreau.

You have great taste! What makes this album phenomenal is the producer, the one the only "Q" as on Quincy Jones!

It's a pretty common disco outfit. From the Jackson 5 to teenage/adult The Jacksons they always wore very elaborate colorful shiny disco costumes, just look up their performances. It was pretty common already in the 70s. Earth Wind & Fire etc too.

There was a dance that sort of went with this song called "The Rock" back then. Way before Jackson began with all his plastic surgeries to change his appearance...
