Sometimes the miscommunication trope makes sense and works okay, a character hates/is scared of another, is super shy/anxious, etc and needs to build up courage to confront them only to find it was a miscommunication. But here? Nothing has established that MGK's character would be afraid of asking/unwilling to ask his girlfriend what she means.

Stoner films were funny back in the day because 1) they were made by comedians/actors and 2) even though it was illegal for the most part, it was still relatable in an unspoken way. Like a “yeah we all know someone like that because we all smoke occasionally”. Etc. But MGK really brought the real experience of hanging out with a ston3r while you’re sober. It’s super boring, it’s like watching someone fight a nap. Also he was a low-rent Paulie Shore in this, which is super sad in and of itself.

And the opening scene feels like such a simultaneous rip off of every 80s comedy with the 1st person omniscient narration and then every 90s/00s teen comedy with the weed centric lines. I really hate to say it, but there’s something weird and profoundly unfunny about a bunch of ppl in their 30s and 40s acting like teenagers.

I genuinely laughed during "Where's the pot, Potter?" Might be the only line in the entire script written by a professional.

When the main character's name is "London Clash" and his girlfriend's name is "apple", you can already tell the writing's going to be great

I'm friends with a couple people on Facebook that unironically love MGK. One person even actually made a whole post talking about how "funny" this movie was and how "hot" MGK was. I never wanted to unfriend someone more.

i don't know how people can love the current MGK, he seems so disconnected from reality it's disturbing lol at least before when his rap career started, he was all about supporting his daughter and just trying to make money, now it's just like he's trying to stay relevant by doing outlandish stuff. but his music would've kept him relevant if he didn't start being a weirdo

10:28 ok, let's be clear with something here. that mantle has basically no structural integrity, especially to support so much weight! those two tiny sticks are hardly supportive, moreso for balancing/keeping it level. the wall mounts are probably kinda garbage with such little attachment space, which is seen when he simply sets down the urn and the whole thing breaks. I guess the guy shouldn't have touched the urns, but either way it was doomed from the start! maybe I'm wrong lol
