A good broad brimmed hat and SPF clothing. The hat will protect your scalp which is very difficult to put sunscreen on and a very common place for skin cancer. ;-)

Yes sunscreen and a hat or anything to keep sun off your face. If you have oily skin which breaks out with regular sunscreen you can get it in a powder form - completely invisible, you just brush it on. You can also get organic sunscreen now which is good.

I’ve used biossance eye cream for 2 years. Very sensitive eyes & no issues with this. I’m 66 yo and have tried a lot of high end eye creams; so far, this is the best. Also the nite lactic acid treatment is excellent. I researched sqalane, after using The Ordinary products for a few years; when I read biossance had an eye cream with it (and algae a bonus) I immediately purchased the eye cream.....no regrets! Love the docs, great advice...and happy to hear they support my choices.😎

I just bought like 5 bottles of their jumbo sized sunscreen when it was on sale a couple days ago. Gives me no white cast. It’s hydrating (a tiny bit greasy) but with that PA+++ rating and no white cast, I’d be crazy to say this isn’t my favorite sunscreen of all time!!! I appreciate that they actually tell you the UVA protection which most manufactures don’t, and I respect that a lot. Thank you biossance!!!

Biossance came out with their sunscreen and when I ordered it I also got some of the minis of their other products and now I am sold. Ordering the minis is a great way to try out these products before you invest in the larger sizes. I am testing out the lactic acid from Biossance now and have purchased the large sizes of the eye serum and eye cream. If you like squalane order the Biossance minis and see what you think!!!!

Hi it's nice to see eye creams not getting a bad review from Doctors on youtube. I like using an eye cream, as the skin around my eye has a need for a different texture to my facial skin. I have very dry, menopausal, rosacea and eczema prone skin and need rich creams for my face, neck and chest. Despite also having very dry skin around my eyes, the skin there is thinner and needs a slightly lighter texture to be comfortable. I'm careful to pick eye creams with decent INCI lists including a higher amount of peptides for daily use. At night I use a retinaldehyde eye cream, as the lower level of retinaldehyde in the eye product is better tolerated than a facial cream would be. I sometimes use a little balm at night on top, if my eyes feel super dry. I like squalane as an ingredient and even as a single ingredient oil. The oil can be added to moisturisers etc to boost the emollience on days where I'm extra dry. Best wishes.

The reasons limonene, linalool etc are listed on any product, is not because they have been added separately but because they have exceeded the non- declarable amount allowed in skincare. They are potential allergens contained in those plant extracts/essential oils etc further up the ingredients list, so people who know they are sensitive to these ingredients are made aware this product contains over the non-declarable least irritating/sensitising amount. It’s a compliance regulation required in some countries, depending on where they are made or exported to.

@emeegeeehen
@emeegeeehen 2 жыл бұрын
No, the quality of Squalane does not somehow increase the more expensive it is. Check the expensive product to see if it has additional additives like extra emollients (e.g. caprylic triglycerides) or anti-aging ingredients (e.g. vitamin C, peptides). Those additives may be why a company feels justified in up-charging so much for their Squalane.

HOLY MOLY!!!! What IS IN that eye cream!? I mean, WHOA. All eye creams irritate me, I mean even the most expensive and most "non-irritating" ones. My skin is hypersensitive (and that's an understatement). So this eye cream, not only does NOT irritate or burn my eyes at ALL, but it IMMEDIATELY and quickly takes down ALL swelling (which I swell around my eyes a lot) and dark circles are GONE like magic. What kind of witchery? LOL! I swear, no one paid me to say this. I just received several products today that I had purchased (after watching this) and I am BLOWN AWAY. I really LOVE the eye cream and I bought one of the moisturizers (not greasy at all, I break out easily too) It is not tacky (I hate tackiness or oiliness) Doesn't dilate my pores, which a lot of creams do. The eye cream also goes a long way, so I spread it our on my face too. The cleanser is OK, it's got fragrance, so I'm a little scared but it hasn't stung or anything. BUT holy mother of God, that eye cream. The doc is not joking when he says it's good! AND by the way, I have a collection of like 50 sunscreens. I can't use any of them b/c they irritate my neck and eye area. I got BIOSSANCE's and apparently, that also works for me b/c I can tell right off if something will burn. This is another FIRST for me! I will definitely keep buying this brand! Thank you, BIOSSANCE and thank you, Dr. Shah! Takes a lot to impress me. I'm impressed!

Hello Dr. Maxfield & Dr. Shah! I was wondering if you could speak about or had any information about dry eye with retinol use. I had no idea it could occur until I started using tretinoin and started having dry eye whenever I used it, despite avoiding the eye areas as much as possible. I would love to hear your thoughts on this!

Not a doctofr but from personal experience, I can say buffering your eye areas with aquaphor or cerave healing ointment or plain petroleum jelly before you apply tretinoin will help with this. Dr. Dray mentioned this in a video that tretinoin does get absorbed into the skin, under the eye areas even if you've avoided topically applying tretinoin there. Hence, that could still irritate your under eye skin causing dryness and so the best way to protect it is to buffer it with vaseline or something similar to prevent fast and direct absorption, and to sort of weaken the strength of tretinoin in that area. You'll still see results but minus the irritated/dry skin :) Hope this helps!

I used TO retinol 0.25% in squalane and it was super greasy for my taste and barely did anything. However, with so many benefits, squalane sounds like it's worth trying out in lower concentrations and lighter formulas.

Very informative video as always, but the following point that I have heard re-iterated before recently is one I cannot agree with: 'If you have no allergy to fragrance, it is fine to use it'. I am not sure this is completely justified, as you develop fragrance allergies - by - using products with fragrance in them. Therefore, the more you use products with fragrance, the higher the chances become that you will develop an allergy to them. As such, there - is - a problem with using fragrance in skincare, even if you are - not - allergic to them (yet). Given that most people that watch this channel are likely to have routines with actives in them that either exfoliate or increase skin cell turnover, or products with penetration enhancers in them, using a product with fragrance along with those will often cause the fragrances to penetrate deeper into the skin, further increasing the chances of developing an allergy. I think figuring out a skincare routine that doesn't cause more problems than the ones it solves is hard enough without adding the extra variable of a potential allergic contact dermatitis, and to be honest, I wish you guys weren't so casual about it lol. Feel free to disagree with me if this doesn't make sense!
@Doctorly

Not going to disagree with you because it makes a lot of sense. I tend to agree with you (more cautious) and Dr. Maxfield leans towards the more relaxed side on this issue, which is nice to have two different view points on one channel! We’ve discussed fragrance in a lot more detail in our “controversies” video! You can certainly develop allergies to any ingredient no matter how long you’ve been using it, which is a common misconception for people, so I’m glad you pointed it out!
