Is the 2023 Vinfast VF8 a new SUV worth the PRICE?

FIRST LOOK: The VF8 is going to be the vehicle that kicks off sales of Vinfast vehicles in the USA. On the pitside you will find unique styling, 20in wheels and full LED lighting. On the inside there is a 15.6in infotainment system screen, soft touch materials, plenty of passenger room. Powering the VF8 are (2) electric motors proving the VF8 with AWD. I love your reviews! Watch them all! I did watch out of specs review and test drive of this car at the Vegas show. Several screen issues, cheep plastic door handles and major rattles and noises on test drive. I can’t wait for your to get to test drive this to compare. I’m routing for this car company to succeed and I hope they work out the issues asap because it’s a great looking EV!

Nice curb appeal and if Tesla keeps going year after year with zero refresh to their exterior they will eat a whole lot of dust from more appealing designs. Hey Joe and Lori, I think the vehicle looks great 👍 One zonk for me, is no driver's side dash. It reminds me of the Tesla models. Massive center display, but no "digital pleasure" while you're holding the steering wheel. Here in Canada it's coming in significantly cheaper than the Model Y, and especially when you factor in it will further qualify for the federal EV rebate, unlike the Model Y.

Vinfast has only been around since 2017. So it's a staggering achievement for them to be about to go into volume production. This is a company that is operating at warp speed. Many people show concepts and have no factory, these guys are for real, and i predict they will be a giant company in the future.

$58k is the base eco model that only gets 240 range. That’s disgusting. Plus model will probably be $65k and still under 300 mile range. Thats model Y prices. Every other Electric Suv is $40-50k and has better range than VF8. Chevy euv and Kia kona are under $40k

The VF8 outside styling and interior seem promising; however, they seemed to miss the mark with driver instrumentation. The way that you personalize the experience is to make the things like the instrumentation driver centric. That means there should at a minimum be a center instrument pod in front of the driver integrated into the dash material. A lot of the electrified vehicles coming down the pipeline are minimizing too many of the interior design elements for the driver. Each of these vehicle now have sterile, commuter vehicle feel to them. For the money that they expect these consumers to pay for them you would think they would create integrated instrumentation that personalizes and connects with the driver. Porsche Tycan and Audi GT do a fabulous job of keeping the interior and instrumentation personal. EV interior designers need to take some of these cues of design and integrate it into the products they are developing.

ive lived in vietnam for years so know this brand very well and would never buy one of these things. there were numerous instances where these cars (and motorbikes from this manufacturer) spontaneously exploded and caught fire - it actually happened in one of the garages at the apartment complex i lived in.

As a Vietnamese my self, I must say you should test drive it and give them your true thought, also despite the difference between the WLTP and EPA, the car itself if you drive not like a mad man you can actually get to the 240 miles range and more, there is a lot of videos (of course in Vietnamese) about people testing its range and real life prove that it able to reach the WLTP range (primarily city and high way, we did drive it on mountain road too) but I don't know how you guys in the US will drive it so the numbers can be different, but its downsides now are the software (it does have bugs, also problems with the 12v battery that is causing quiet trouble for the drivers) and the turning light is kinda wonky, but they are working onto fix it. As a casual driver myself and did drive one of their cars before, I will say it is not a bad car, quite comfy and easy to drive but that's just my opinion as a casual driver. ps: sorry for my poor English but this is all I got

If they want to enter the most competitive vehicle market in the world and succeed, they will need to lower their prices. Charging infrastructure in NA is weak currently, so finding people to not only risk that infrastructure as well as buy a brand they have never heard of, for those prices, is a tough challenge. If they were able to come in around $7k - $10k less for each of their models, I think people would roll the dice. Right now, hard pass.

Every time a new video of a Electric car comes out the price tag starts over $50K. This is a car that no one has a clue about other then hardcore enthusiasts. Sorry for the newer generations having to get into cars way over budget in today's economy. Are there actually any electric cars coming out that start around $30K? I am paying off my Challenger ScatPack and see no real reason to ever get into something way over priced electric until there is no other choice. This SUV thing is Fugly for real too!

I got my 2023 Venza. The base model started out at $34K but you get what? The limited rollout of the door is $52K. Don't expect anything cheap nowaday.

Chevy bolt is $30k. Equinox will be $30k. About a dozen EV are around $40-45k. 45-55k theres another 7-8 more cars. Good 20 cars cheaper the $58k vinfast.

@@anekinoo7 The Bolt , Nissan Leaf and many other cheap looking vehicles is something that i am guessing will be more what we will see all over the place along with the "Higher End" ones Over $50K here and there , I am talking in the range of what New Gas Cars VS. These Electric in general are starting to be way out the ballpark of what they should be. I just can't comprehend the price on these ugly looking compact cars. I get it with the whole save the world no emissions things but man, the limits of what some make here in America is hard to be happy about the future of cars and trucks.

I just don't see this being successful in the US. This company is trying to expand to the US and they start it off with a car with a price tag of almost $60,000. I know some Americans can afford that but the truth is right now most Americans can't. If they don't put out a more affordable option with this one I just don't see this company making it here. Especially given the fact that most Americans know nothing about this brand.
