I've done about a 150 miles on my 2019 RC390 in one day going up and down the mountain roads. After the trip I felt aching on my wrists and on my back but honestly it gets getting used to. Most of the trouble comes from going downhill on long trips which puts pressure on your wrists and spine. Once you've get used to it you'll realize that the most painful part of your body after long trips will be your butt so the comfort seat is worth the upgrade. Overall the bike is an amazing bike but the heating issues you hear everyone complaining about is true and it takes some money to get it work properly.. at first I thought it would just heat up in the city but it heats up when I'm going on long trips too

I've done 160 kms on my beginner supersport and another 160 kms to return after 15 hours(on a stock seat). It was an eye opening experience. I couldn't sit on the seat by the end of the ride(both to and fro) and not to mention the body and wrist aches. Please do not make a mistake of not taking a break every 80-100 kms. It was clear as day to me that sportsports are purpose built and to take them touring is just a dare.

As an owner of an rc390 that I bought new and now have ~6000 miles, this bike is not meant for long rides. My butt gets very sore if I ride for about an hour or so, especially if it’s on the highway, because then it’s all I can think about lol. I do have the stock seat still however, and I’ve looked into the comfort seat that KTM makes for it, but it’s ~$400 if my memory serves me right.

I get it, Yam, I’m a bit late on this one, too. I can agree man. The RC390 isn’t comfortable at all and I rode a I-40 and Route 66 loop in northern Arizona last year on mine. 160 mile round trip and halfway through I was standing on the pegs just to give my butt and back a rest.
@falconknowledgey5 жыл бұрын
1 thing I can say about the bike which sums it up, and I got this from motorcycle news, (I think that's the name of the channel), they compared the 390 with the Kawasaki 300 honda CBR 300 and the Yamaha r3. They basically said the RC is more of a track bike that you can use on the road, where as the others are road bikes that you can use on the track. And I think this reflects in the aggressive seating position, and the overall performance of the bike. I have the RC 390 and it makes me smile everyone I ride it, pure fun on 2 wheels

Dudes, If you are not used to commited riding postures, RC is not for you. You need atleast 30 mins of practice daily at the gym or on road bikes (bicycle with dropped handlebars) to train. Don't blame the supersports for being sporty. Hard seat, dropped bars, higher ground clearance, set back foot rest, stiffer suspensions are all attributes of supersports. They cannot be changed to suit your comfort. They are meant to be that way on purpose for sheer performance. I would rather suggest you to shape up your body, grow muscles to fit in such bikes. Note: I have covered 200 miles on my RC390 in about 3 hrs. The bike was so engaging and demanding to be pushed to its limit. There were no discomforts either. When it come to seating posture, I don't see much difference between riding a supersports and a road bike (sports bicycle) Tips for less stress on body: 1. Use your thighs to hold the fuel tank tight. 2. Never hold your arms on the bars in a straight fashion. Bend it a bit so as to absorb shocks while dipping 3. Be easy on your wrist, else you will get wrist pain. 4. Ensure to keep the spinal cord column as straight as possible while riding on a committed posture. No bending. 5. You need to have some strength training of your back and butt muscles to ride any supersports. Practice planks, push ups and hips exercise. Good luck

Come on lol a ride from San Antonio to Twisted Sisters by Leakey TX is a minimum of 250 miles if not well over 300. That being said it DOES absolutely suck to be on a sport bike that long, but that's a good average distance ride. Riding to my parents and back is between 70-90 miles each way depending on which side of town I leave from. I can make the journey in 1 - 1.5 hours and ride back that same day no problem. 100 miles is no challenge haha.

Pfft, it's plenty comfortable. I have a Tyga solo seat, which is just a fiberglass shell with a bit of foam glued to it, and once a week I jam out a 100-150 mile day full of heavy shredding... I also commute on that bike, and it has more committed ergo than the stock bike (aftermarket clamp, clipons, suspension, rearsets, seat, etc). If 100 miles on the comfort seat is the "Iron Butt Challenge" my ass must be made out of the material that they use to make missile silo blast doors.

That is if you have not yet liberated yourself from 675 syndrome. Don't worry that it's not an "R" in just means a less expensive looks scheme (badges mostly) and a different front brake and forks. The brake I would replace for track use but the cheap stock ohlins on the r basically suck and you wouldn't really want them on the track so the fact that it's not an r special edition isn't a big deal other than I love the white.

So is it really that much more uncomfortable than the Daytona? The Daytona is known for its aggressive ergos when compared to the rest of the 600s. I've seen lots of people around here do 200+ mile days on R1s, R6s, ZX-10s/6s, etc, they just stop for breaks a lot. I'd still rather do 100+ miles on a supersport than some of the more extreme cruisers such as the Harley FXDR and Indian Scout Bobber, I've ridden both and found them more uncomfortable than any sportbike.

My dearest Papa Yam, I believe you are referring to “deecaliboy” for the vids of the R3 keeping up in the canyons with the big boys. Hope this helps. Sincerely, your devout and faithful son and follower.

The reason I'd get the rc over the duke is because I like the sport bike ergo. Which is why I'm currently using my 2012 600rr for commuting. Simple.
