This may honest to God be the best show they've ever done. Joe's work is incredible; Francis is great; these are the most enjoyable characters I've ever seen from Syd or Skid, and Troy is starting to make me actually like Roger. And I never liked Roger. Simply amazing, top to bottom. Keep it up gang.

First exposure to the GCN actual plays, and it's easily the top actual play of any game I've seen. The characters are great, unique, and the players are super committed and comfortable in their roles. And Joe is delivering a masterclass on DMing every session. I'm glued to my screen trying to learn as much as I can, I know I can elevate my own DMing from his example.

Troy sipping beer with a cig hanging out the corner of his lip is PEAK Roger behaviour.
@GuerillaBunny2 жыл бұрын
I once saw a guy rollerskating, cig in his mouth, a beer can in one hand and talking to his phone with the other. I thought to myself "That guy's mastered time management." He was too skinny to be Roger, who also wouldn't rollerskate. So who was he?!
@yourspookyaunt2 жыл бұрын
@@GuerillaBunny in the future, in our timeline, Roger had a son. That was Roger Cumstone Jr, I have no doubts. (Also, I think I could picture Roger roller*blading* for some odd reason. "It's faster than walking, but not as weird as jogging. I like it.")
@GuerillaBunny2 жыл бұрын
@@yourspookyaunt This is how I'd imagine Roger's train of thought: "Roller...blading? What are they talking about, there's no blade! It's shoes with wheels! These young hipsters... Is that what they're called? They're fucking weird." The son part checks out, though. I could see him thinking that. But the question arises... Who's the mother? Who wants to have Cumstone's baby?
@yourspookyaunt2 жыл бұрын
@@GuerillaBunny oooh, fair point. Fair point. I knew that the word "weird" was involved somehow. I have a feeling, knowing his penchant for "casual encounters" ( in true 90's action star fashion), probably some very hot broad he met on a mission. True to his perfectly 90's design, I feel like he had no idea he had a son until the mother had mYsTeRiOuSlY DiEd, and in a cryptic letter, alludes to the kid. Obviously, her death is Delta Green Related, but who was she? Another Delta Green agent? A cultist? Or maybe she's an African Grey Parrot breeder? (Are we writing the Roger Cumstone spinoff fiction right now?!)
@GuerillaBunny2 жыл бұрын
@@yourspookyaunt I don't know what we're writing. Could be a spinoff, could be alternate timeline, backstory he doesn't know of, a future that might not come to pass... no idea :D Considering he had an "encounter" with miss "That's what I call music #57", he might've gone down in pedigree. Could be anybody, tbh. But I agree, he'll have learned about the son after the mother's death (which could very well be Delta Green related). I'd also figure he's a terrible father who'd bribe his kids (or just the one, for now, thank goodness) into silence with cigarettes and alcohol. He'd probably continue to numb his existential angst with random encounters, sometimes while his son is in the next room (he seems like a "dun give a fuck while I'm fuckin'" kind of guy, as per his music choice with miss TWICM#57). They'll probably eventually mutually agree that the father and son thing isn't working, so they're gonna be flatmates who can barely stand one another while the son looks for a new apartment, which Cumstone might or might not sponsor, at least a little bit.

This show has all the best elements of so many great fictional works like Twin Peaks, David Lynch films, mixed with X-Files, and even the comedic art world parodies in the style of Portlandia. The "King in Yellow" story definitely starts to get really weird when the character's pet and love interest start to drive him mad this doesn't bode well for Jimmy the bird 🦜 and Norma after too much more Cumstone sanity loss. The Agent Maybelline character reminds me a lot of the bounty hunter in Janet Evanovich's ensemble cast series of "Stephanie Plum" which is a fun classic too.

The rest of the group is amazing when it comes to "Yes and..." its a joy to watch and I think for me its so far one of the best if not the best AP pod I have ever listened to/watched. So clearly this is a man who is not present, and now, after listening back from s6, I am just now figuring out that while the agents were investigating in 95, Abigail was headed on her own journey having not yet reached Broadalbin, perhaps somewhere scattered throughout time. One criticism I've long had with Delta Green and how it's presented is players always seem to latch onto their agent covers as superhero IDs or G.I. Joe codenames instead of something that could plausibly pass for a name, so instead of Agents Max, McIntyre, Morgan, and Murdock, you end up with Agents Mayhem, Meteor, Murderhobo, and Mystikal. Then, typically within the first session or two, everyone abandons that and breaks cover to use their real names.
@Tibbyvc-rb7od2 жыл бұрын
But they don't need to plausibly pass for names... they're only to keep covers from other DG agents, who know they are fake...
