Yes it's going to be pay to win. Pay to win doesn't just mean "you can only get things by spending money" but also the speed at which you get it. Any advantage at all that is given to the player who spends money is instantly pay to win. The only way they can sidestep all of his is by normalizing stuff in PVP and making it skill based entirely. If the only power you get is for PvE content then it's not pay to win it's pay to finish content faster.

imo its not pay2win if they are just letting whales pay to progress to a certain point. Sounds like basically you can just pay to skip to entry level endgame, but beyond that you have to earn it. I'm actually OK with that. Let dumbass whales fund the game on pointless upgrades.

How important is traits actualy in game(and they are very important in pvp?) and how can i obtain items for traits? Just with content or in market with cash? I mean how long i have to grind to obtain lvl 3 traits totally f2p compared with spending cash the diference is huge or totally fine? Sorry about so many questionss

The problem with these systems is that if you would like a similar gameplay experience to World of Warcraft of Final Fantasy XIV, you will have to spend more than 60$ plus 15$ every month. In fact, its closer to a couple thousand and, even then, RNG might make you spend more. This makes me ask . Is the gameplay worth this much? From what i've seen, it's got your run of the mill Lost Ark /Black desert item progression , with a quite basic 2 weapon combat system that can be customized to some extent. It's worth about 40$ plus 10$/month but they are asking way more than 20 times to get a decent experience.

Yeah it is pay to win. If they want money so badly, just make it pay to play. Works with Warcraft. Im not playing p2w games, sad bcs otherwise i would try that for sure.

I'm excited for it but I don't think any game will grab me like ESO. The story is what grabbed me to begin with, then it was guilds, dungeons and trials! I feel like only new Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones MMOs would really grab me if they had great story content

@TheTankClub Eso just needs a Banger dlc or free content update as the last two have been pretty boring except strangely. I seem to have been enjoying the scribing storyline as is full of interesting information.

Every MMO is p2w in one aspect or another ESO has crown crates which can be gifted for gold to buy from the in-game markets wwo have wwo tokens etc it's just if it gets worse as the game grows is my only concern

Yeah I mean the game is free to play and no sub so they need to generate money somehow. The only major concerned would be with that Blessing of Solisium being added in the future

@@TheTankClub Riot games such as Valorant and League of Legend is free 2 play as well no sub and cant gain power through real money. The problem is the normalization of MMO games to be P2W. Most of old school MMOs are free to play as well and not P2W initially until few years later.

Yes, you can buy gear with real money and power up with the season pass. It’s NCsoft, and they don’t have a good history. Don’t get me wrong, the game can be fun, but after 3 months, only the whales will stay, and it will be much worse. So enjoy the first 3 months and then move to another game.

Paying for a game is completely fine, nothing is free. Everyone who works knows that. However, it should be the case that the monthly expenses do not exceed those of a paid model.

So a free to play game with an optional pay to play version that goes up to a 100 euros. Cosmetic shop. Most likely some sort of way to gain power through that shop. A season pass. Doesn't sound like free to play. I'll take a sub fee over all of this non sense any day.
