Long time watcher apricating your excellent work. It's not just Motorway, but Car Wow as well. Two years ago I was offered £800 for my 2008 Vauxhall Vectra SRi with 84K miles. I was second owner for 13 years with full main dealer service history. I contacted Car Wow and they suggested putting it up for a 1 day auction with a reserve of £1400. It sold for the reserve price in a day.

Same. I sold a Golf Gti and the initial price was £13k but it made another £700 or so. WBAC was around £11.5 for the same car. Motorway appear to be some kind of dealer bidding/auction so I guess if it’s a less in demand car it may not make the estimate.

That says more to me about how low WBAC pays. I am.also surprised that Motorway didn't knock you down - does the winning bidder not nit-pick away at the bid price? Happy for you anyway🎉

Good evening James, I had a friend who was quoted for his Lexus GS 3500 on Motorway they estimated £8500 and the best he was offered was £7600 so quite a way off, he eventually traded it at Lexus for £7900 against a newer Lexus. Must admit the forecourt is looking rather grand now-just need to see all the motors pointing the other way (as per Mr Brewer). Just a note to say I really enjoy being on this journey with you and the way you keep it all real and true to yourself. Keep it going. Alan B (A very snowy Nottingham)

I’m assuming Motorway over estimate to hook people in. I was selling my car which I thought was worth £6k minimum to the trade. Motorway estimated £6700, which I took with a pinch of salt. I put it through their process, and a small independent dealer gave me a firm offer of £6,300, which I accepted (and he didn’t haggle when he came to collect it). So you’re absolutely right, people shouldn’t be using Motorway’s opening gambit as a bargaining tool if selling to someone like yourself 👍
@minimeee0423 сағат бұрын
Used Motorway twice and never again they give you a high figure to hook you in which i was,the actual offers from the car traders were nearly a grand less than there estimate and remember from a retail person selling a car the prices we are offered are trade prices so wont be anywhere near the price of retail.
@stuartdavison401419 сағат бұрын
My experience with Motorway is very positive. The first vehicle sold for £1800 more than their estimate and £5500 more than a main dealer offered in part exchange. Five years later the second vehicle sold for £400 more than their initial estimate and a full £2000 more than a dealer offered in part exchange. In the interim I sold a vehicle through Cazoo. I received the exact amount they quoted.
@gimble447Күн бұрын
Yup, they give a good price as the estimate just to get people in with the car, then work it down from there when you’ve got them in there face to face with the car, let’s face it these are big operations which ain’t big for no reason 👍 You then just have to hope they made a mistake and you end up getting it cheap at auction 😂

I sold a 58 plate Vectra SRi to we buy any car 2 years ago and they slashed the quoted price by half. However with motorway we just sold a 23 plate Kia Xceed and got £600 more than the estimate which was already £1000 more than the local dealer offered and the dealer that bought it has just sold it for about £1900 more so they must have quoted a fair price on that one. So it can work both ways.

Best thing with ebay is just not to reply to any of the innit bruvs and their silly questions. Phone calls only and serious ones at that. Not worth the time and stress levels. I only ever sold a low value car once privately online and it got that bad I nearly drove it to the scrapyard myself.

I've tried selling 3 cars through Motorway. Two of them achieved above the estimate and the third was £100 less, however equal to the offer my local dealer had made for the car.

Sold 6 cars on motorway. Only 1 that didn’t hit its motorway estimate. Best we did was 2 grand over estimate. Average was estimate plus £500. Motorway ask you to detail every piece of damage on your vehicle. If you’re honest about the condition and the service history then the prices are fairly accurate. The people that get shafted are the ones who lie about the condition to try and get more then get caught out 🤷🏻♂️

Just to add a comment here, I think buying from James here is a valuable lesson, you need to find a trader who values their reputation... Individual sellers probably won't. And as a side note the dealer whom I brought a BMW ZM from, well when you buy and pay for that sort of car, when it has a problem, after less than 100km, it has been parked in garage ever since, you would expect them to care... I know off topic, but the flasher the dealership, guess who is paying for it...
