Can't really speak for the performance issues with the patch in the raid since i haven't done it yet, only BRD LFR. All i know is that if Blizz isn't working on an engine reboot with better multithreading (well actual multithreading, not one main thread for combatlog and addons etc.) this will soon reach a point were even the highest end CPU won't be able to give a playable experience in 30man raids. I'm already dropping to the 30s on some boss abilities with a 5800X3D.

Since last weekly reset ive massive performance issues, too. stuttering after like 30-60 minutes after logging in. Especially in BattleGrounds and Delves. Since 2005, I am at a point where I am about to cancel the sub because of PERFORMANCE issues that makes the game unplayable. Never was in such a situation with the game, ever. I quit because game was bad gameplaywise or content but never because performance was so bad.

I don't think anything particularly changed with this weeks maintenance compared to previous one. I'd check for a new problematic addon update or some other cause, maybe recent windows update?. I say this because all the 11.0.5 problems that existed, are either resolved or unchanged from patch release and that was 3 weeks ago at this point. one thing to look at is if anyone in guild is transferring currencies, this causes massive stuttering and frame drops and is a known issue.

Performance in general ive seen more issues then ever before despite having the same comp i did in df. In df i had at least mid 50s most fights, now im slogfing at 30s. Keep in mind. The requirements for windows between TWW and DF are virtually idenitical as are recommended

All settings to 1 with projected textures on, all addons off except required raid ones and required raid WA’s, not using plater or elvui just stock, with a 5800x3D and a 4080, Mythic Broodtwister just being pulled made me go from 122 FPS to 31, moment an add spawned I dropped to 5. Got a nice fat 3 gray parse on my guilds first kill of Brood, I hate my life.

Gotta agree, Silken Court Intermission is the only scenario in WoW, where my fans are getting noisy... But in general the performance is killing my joy to raid in this game. My PC is a bit older (i7 6770k 1080), but WoW is the only game causing me frame issues. (I play PoE, which runs smooth and I used to play Lost Ark , New World and other newer games with zero issues)

frame drops mid-patch on the same content are not an age thing. this has absolutely nothing to do with age whatsoever i'd argue. its an actively developed product and the visual complexity has not really significantly improved in the last 5 years or so. (it already looked very good in legion - shaders, polycounts, drawcalls, etc.). this is just new / incompetent devs being cycled through in development while older / more expensive devs quit/retire or are fired. its a very normal thing happening throughout tech industries.

@@ComfortAmbience What I was mostly talking about with 'age' is the fact that it is, in fact, simply just not optimized, and the fact that the thing runs on thousands of bandaid-fixes on the back-end, that just make things break when they change something completely unrelated. Despite all the "Improvements" they have done over the years, it is simply not enough. The engine STILL after all the upgrades barely makes any use of the CPU cores. The game's CPU Bound 99% of the time as long as there are players on the screen. (Arguably, that's a problem of every MMO, but for WOW it's like 5x worse.)

I have had such issues in the expansion and in this raid that I have never had before. I have watched all of your video's and tried all of the steps and it did get a bit betetr and then I was...how is it again so bad? I was sure that something is breaking but it is exactly as you said it is specifically certain aoe effects especially the web ones that seem to tank it fully. I can confirm that you are right about the Raid fps, i just did 6 of 8 HC Bosses with Guild grp,Normally i did have fps on boss fight around 50 fps and now i have like 15 fps. fps was so bad that a lot ppl die becouse of the lag, when fps drops and you need to move or do something. Biggest problem is also Blizzard needs to understand a lot of ppl doesnt have High End PC to have best fps but even high end pcs have drops, so you can think how much does it get bad in low end pc. I have RTX 4050 Ryzer 5 7535HS 144hz Monitor and yes i know my is low end, but normally any other game even new ones i can play on HIGH settings at 80 or so fps, But Warcraft has so bad engine and performance that is terribly.

So I've been able to test completely without addons now and the fps drops are definitely related to the webs. As soon as they go out on Ansurek, during both intermission and the platforms, fps drops, as soon as they're gone fps shoots up again. Same with Silken Court intermission. Another thing I noticed, is the game is shifting the load around on different cores. This has not been the case in the past. Typically you have 1 main core, or thread rather, that stays loaded. But on the Ansurek that I recorded, the load shifts to a different thread almost exactly every 5 seconds. Very odd.

There's something weird with this intermission since day 1. My GPU goes to 90ºC with fans at full speed and then 60ºC as usual for the rest of the night (Same with Nymue last expansion). I have a 5800X3D & 6800XT combo if it helps, Win10 / 1440p @144fps.

i didn’t notice any player issues once i had latest update. but in my testing on stream i did i turned off weak auras player and dbm just to clearly show issue remained. i didn’t want there to be any doubt it wasn’t a combat addon doing it. and i already run optimal settings to avoid fps issues anyways.

I had this too !! It started after the patch! I was looking if there was some latency issue or something but no everything looked fine. Using flying mount and it's abilities had like 1-2 sec delay before it happened etc. Hope they fix it..felt terrible to play when stuff feels unresponsive.

I just wish they could take the extra 1-2 weeks more if it means we don't get broken patches like 11.0.5. I'm sure people won't mind the extra weeks if it means we avoid these situations. Might have been a similar issue, but our raid had between 3-4 players DC all at the same time on bloodbound horror, broodtwister and the first couple pulls of queen ansurek. On queen for example it was on the first set of blades, affected players had their screens freeze and then got dc'ed

you can easily see the difference in performance just playing cata classic then retail. its like night and day performance wise. where I get tons of lag and latency issues in retail, cata is buttery smooth 99% of the time.

much simpler design and mechanical far less information to process. part of issues on retail very much is design. over designing player spells with needless procs and combat log spam. over designing boss fights with way too much performance hogging script bloat and again too many combat log events. it bogs down servers and client alike

I'm gonna post this here because I don't know anywhere else to say. My "sidegame" is Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) - and a few years ago, they implemented the Multithreading Rendering. Even as a "beta" feature, it pumped my game to an INSANE increased amount of FPS. I was really happy when they announced this feature for WoW, but I got ZERO - absolutely ZERO performance gain with this option here. Another tip to make ESO works great, is changing one specific option inside their settings file inside Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\UserSettings - that by default, LOCKS the number of cores the game uses from your CPU. By default its "-1" (Idk the meaning of this value) but if you change this number to the number of cores your cpu have (mine is "8") the game again, gain an increased amount of performance. I really wish we had a similar way to do this with WoW :( ESO main city, lots of players and spells, or even raiding, at 1440p, I'm always 100+ fps! My specs are R7 3800X - 32gb DDR4 - 3070ti (but when I tested this for the first time, I had a 2080 Super).

OMG. This just popped up. Today I actually had the game crash out twice since the patch. I can confirm that there is something eating both more CPU and GPU. My computer turned into a space heater today. I was wondering what was wrong. My cpu is showing higher usage, my GPU usage is also reporting heavier use and the clock and Wattage use is UP. I was in the middle of nowhere but was in combat twice when it completely froze and the game hung. Then it would crash to the desktop. Something is WRONG with this patch.

Wanted to add, was playing again tonight, I noted the low frame rate and high system load. Was in TWW. I left to help an alt in legion. System load dropped frame rate improved. yeah it didn’t hit everyone but it hit a lot in my raid and we did all basic trouble shooting and i didn’t miss a thing regard to that. one thing i thought of maybe is background processing of retroactive rewards. processing completed quests and events and awarding old mods was something i saw game doing. it might be something like that. and i’ve done every quest in the game since vanilla quests. the game was def eating cpu for something.

You will never sustain 200 fps in wow unless you're out of a main city and staring at the sky. Your 7800 x3d and 4090 would still never give you that. You cannot say anything that would make me believe that. Wow has always had terrible fps once you get around more than 10 other players. Yes the fps is worse right now but not 140 fps worse. This patch brought a ton of people back and it's crowding servers. Sounds to me like you just want to throw out system specs. Who tf spend that much on a card for wow unless you also stream edit and whatever else you can do.

@@stelthy3450 Obviously framerates fluctuate depending on where you are, but yes I do have over 200 fps *most* of the time. In the city I hover between 90-120. In raids I also hover around 90-120. In dungeons I consistently have over 200, and when there's no action I sometimes see as high as 400. You don't have to believe me and I have nothing to prove. As for who spends money on a card for wow, has it occurred to you that I'm future proofing and I play other games? Seems to me that you just want to be contrary.

It is such a shame that it is virtually impossible to have proper raid fps in this game. Uncapping the framerate I can reach ridiculous fps in random zones ( 600+ ), drops to 120 in dornagal and then during raids its fluctuating from around average 110-120, to highs of 140 or down 60fps. @@mysticalos You're not wrong, from the technical standpoint, the game has kind of been in dumpsterfire mode since DF S3-4ish when it's clear their attention is put on TWW. There's no reason for upgrade vendors to randomly break, spell queuing to still not work correctly a day after the patch now, and even random icons to be swapped between classes. QC has been out the window for a while but at least they're getting much better with reading feedback and reacting accordingly, for the most part. I hope all the performance buzz gets their attention but there's limitations of what they can do with a 20y old engine with plenty of spegetti code at this point.

that's not weird. most cpus have like 8-16 cores now. if wow only effectively uses 2 or 3 of them, and leaves rest isle, you can be cpu bottlenecked despite having most of your cpu not doing any work. gaming in general has failed to keep up with modern cpu hardware. t hey don't code around capabilities of modern cpus
