Do you play your games with Ray Tracing enabled?

I look at Ray Tracing more like a gimmick. Even if you have an RTX 4090 it will struggle with Ray Tracing to keep 60FPS + at native 4K and heavy Ray Tracing in many games. And most mid to higher end graphics cards are not suited for Ray Tracing unless you accept like 30 FPS. Only place I use Ray Tracing is if it's forced from the game. Like Avatar Frontiers Of Pandora. Which have some light Ray Tracing forced.

​@@BigOldW I too had the RTX 2060 when I was initially playing this game the first time and ray tracing was definitely a no-no🙂 I still managed to enjoy the game tho. 2060 was pretty good back in 2020-2021.

@@larsenmats indeed. It looks like a few more GPU generations will pass before this level of ray tracing will be OK to run on mid-range GPUs. But then there's always something more impressive in ray tracing. Like path tracing. Although, I hear that NVIDIA is working on AI accelerated way to do ray tracing. It would be great if the upcoming feature brings performance uplift similar to DLSS resolution upscaling while maintaining great image quality.

I have never even gone into my settings to test ray tracing it can just sit there for all i care just another gimmick to me add $500 to the cost of the cards for something many wont even bother using .

4070 mid range? No, 3050/3060/4060 is mid range, 4070/4080 is high end, 4090 is god tier. Low end is 1050, 1650, 1030, etc.

Yes it can because a 2080 could barely do balanced DLSS at 1440p not 4K and would dip below 60 occasionally now you get to play DLSS at 4K starting at 1440p instead of upscaling to it. Problem is the 4070 super is almost the same cost as the 2080 was at launch

Control has problem with lowres or not loading textures. You need to install the patch mod that allowing Max textures in the game. It's not gonna be the ultimate fix but it forces the textures to load. It is what it is when the Remedy itself dozen fix their games even after 5 years later. Ray Tracing I would say quite alright. In this game it makes it look more "glossy" than the matte look with disabled. The floor started to look reflective and wet. Maybe it's worth it because it's very noticeable even during combats. But the performance hit man. I wouldn't trade those 90 fps plus all of the time with the Ray Tracing. I mean if I already enabled DLSS and all the bells and whistles to make Ray Tracing playable and it still dozen get 60 fps then I would just don't bother with the Ray Tracing at the first place. 🤷‍♀

The mod patch is a must for this game it was developed by one of the games developers. It has an HDR mode added, additional ray counts to punish the 4090 and fixes texture pop in with DLSS on which is the reason I got it.

If it drops into the 50s for FPS for the most demanding areas, that's not a big deal unless you have an OCD about it

I am a big fan of RT and PT, but I must admit that the performance drop can be frustrating. I am hopeful that the upcoming RTX 50XX series, with its GDDR7 memory and increased cache size, will help to close this gap.

I have a feeling that NVIDIA will come up with a DLSS-like feature for ray tracing to make it less demanding. That would sell new GPUs. Just call it DLSS 4😄

That would be nice. I also would like to see them update DLSS to the latest version and add frame generation (both NVIDIA and AMD). I hope they'll do that before Control 2 launches. I'd love to replay Control before that.

It makes sense that TDP will be 400-450W. Then some custom models will go for 500-600W power. I think NVIDIA will not stray far from the path currently set by the RTX 4090. It is very popular so why change anything?

Works well. I have it running at lower RPM. The PC is nice and quiet when I have a GPU with a good quiet cooler in it. Ryzen 7000 series is fine with temps up to 95C. I'm not worried. Noise is more important to me.
