Just a little note: Rally is ALWAYS against the clock, those track cars are NOT rallying. But you definitely can have a rally car bump onto another if the one in front somehow lost so much time that the one behind caught up with it. You can also have a rally special stage running on some track-like course, but it will still be against the clock, NOT several cars at once. And then you have Rallycross, where cars do race against each other, but the track is never perfect asphalt; it's usually mostly dirt or mud. Those track cars just look like rally cars, but the whole event is actually more like Touring or Nascar - only with much less powerful cars.
@lebix692 жыл бұрын
They start in a 2min delay.If one catches the other is normaly due to a problem.You don't loose so much time,'cause you won't be there otherwise

@@lebix69 That's actually 1 minute interval between starts. Also, in cases when you have a round course stage, where you make several laps (2 or 3) before exiting the stage, so you can very well get released in close proximity to other cars still running the roundcourse on their 2nd or 3rd lap.

@henkverzeijl15252 жыл бұрын
@@lebix69 2 minute starting intervals might be the standard for just WRC rallies, i wouldn't know. Being a mechanic in my dads' service crew, i have (only) attended many European, national and regional level, both modern and historic events for the past 25 years, and they definitely use 1 min as standard, and even 30 sec starting intervals sometimes, with up to 15 cars or even more on stage on a round course at any given time, each of them in their own battle against the clock of course. And those events are still all governed by the same set of FIA regulations aswell, so the rules do allow some variation on the starting intervals. I have seen many (and some very) close calls with dangerous start releases on round course stages with my own eyes, so i know for a fact that a 2 minute interval is anything but common on events other than WRC rallies, and it's honestly really common to see cars on the course in close proximity to each other. But don't worry man, i'll let you keep your ass even though you would have lost it betting 😜

3:42 that's just what roads in some ancient towns (I assume this is Italy) look like, so you've got to squeeze through there somehow... Normaly not many signs there either, so you have to "negotiate" who goes through from what side first. Except when the roads are closed off for a rally of course. I drove my peugeot 107 (really small car) through the old city of Pisa once and took a wrong turn. The walls kept getting closer and closer on both sides up until I had to stop and back the whole thing up again, because the car just physically would not fit through. I guess that's what happens if the road was originally built over 1000 years ago when noone had cars in mind or even rallies...

bonnet one is not 1st time when it happened. 1st time was timo mäkinen and his mini cooper S in -67 Ouninpohja, finland short story: Engine was overheating and they tried to left the bonnet little open by tying it with a strong leather belt. However, at the middle of Ouninpohja stage the leather belt broke down and so he drove with the bonnet open the latter half of the stage. They had pacenotes, but the co-driver tells that the Timo was so familiar with the road that the notes were not used. Co-driver Pekka Keskitalo suggested, that he would close the bonnet, but Timo just used "some of the finest words" from Finish vocabulary and kicked the throttle! Timo just tried to look at side window when his Mini was going sideways to see what's ahead. They finished with 3rd fastest time!
