I'm a former police officer who worked in a smaller city. The reply to why she didn't stop was justifiable. She stated fear was the cause of her actions and I saw no harm in it. This officer should have not pulled a gun on her, put handcuffs on her not told her to shut up. I have stopped many people at night and listened why they didn't stop. I'm very disappointed in his coworkers for not calling him out on the carpet. The woman admitted she was speeding and he was justifiable in writing the citation. I would have been lenient due to the young children. That money for that ticket took food and other expenses which could have benefitted them. So glad he’s no longer working there… but I wonder what he’s doing now since he was permitted to resign rather than be fired with cause. She was basically threatened with violence in arrest over an infraction that has no victim. 55 mph is a politically chosen speed limit. A person can safely do 10, 20, even 30 miles over that speed limit safely. As you can see, this officer threatened someone with violence and arrest, over trying to enforce a speed limit, that is supposedly for safety reasons. Well it ain't nothing safe about being shot and beat up over infractions that have no victim.
