This gentleman says such a thoroughly philosophical statement in a very quiet voice at 3:17. Let me just write it down and let you feel the weight of his words. "That's what it's for. If the people can't hear it and see it, it might as well be a copy." I am blown away. And the presenter does not even let it sink in. But he brought the show to us, I respect him for that.

The more I watch Adam Carolla on these DRIVE videos, the more I learn that I don't like him.
@waclosh7 жыл бұрын
I always get sick of him and almost stop the video and then he switches and says something cool, informative, interesting, thus proving his immense insight and knowledge, and wins me over for the rest of the video. I have to say, his ballsy approach to having a chat with car nerds like this man definitely makes them open up and might be beneficial for the audience. And from time to time, he makes these cross-cultural references that simply make you say - wow, this guy knows a lot, and still manages to be an annoying asshole. I just like him. It is like he does not know much about the subject, but he tricks the person into being defensive and then they end up telling the best stories and facts about the car. I can not imagine anybody else achieving that with so little knowledge.
@waclosh7 жыл бұрын
and then when you finally believe, he simply knows nothing and just pushes the other person to spill cool things about the car, Adam Carolla simply says the weirdest, most forgotten fact that the respondent did not even know about.

The mechanics of modern cars are all really good and I like that but modern cars are too limited in terms of design. They lack character, design and are far more complicated then they need to be. The biggest thing I can say about modern cars today is that they are just a compromise between safety features, economy safety and power when in the ye olden days cars where built to look pretty and go fast. Economy is important but then you can get that back easily with just pretty much any modern engine. To me safety features are important if you have a family but if you want a fast light weight toy then I say get rid of all that stuff have more fun and try not to crash.
@EdwinHenryBlachford7 жыл бұрын
so let us revise your statement to read "once a lot of cars were built by individual engineering teams of talented guys making machines with character and made to last, but now all cars must meet the same design rules so all look the bloody same"... and yes I'd agree with that
@richardharrold97367 жыл бұрын
This isn't the original... the original was destroyed in a crash. This is a rebuild of the wreck, in a significantly different form - shorter tail, wider arches, different wheels. The one and only authentic XJ13 is Neville Swales' reproduction, with an original 1966 quad-cam 5.0 V12 - see www.xj13.eu

***** The original XJ13 was destroyed in a high-speed crash. Jaguar had it rebuilt years later in a rather different form. Neville Swales' recreation is the only 100% authentic XJ13.
@richardharrold97367 жыл бұрын
***** Jaguar aren't lying, they openly admit the car was rebuilt in a different form. It is still the case that the car no longer exists in its 1966 form, and that the 1966 design is only represented faithfully by Neville Swales' recreation, with an original 1966 V12 engine (one of only six ever built). The whole story is on www.xj13.eu
