Ultron is my favorite Marvel villain, so I just want to say thanks a lot for this video, it helped me see that they chose a great actor to make him a long lasting trend. They didn’t really throw away everything with him, now that he is considered the strongest villain in the MCU, I see more potential in him being the antagonist in movies, tv shows, video games etc.

Another thing is that Ultron in AOU doesn't exactly and feel like the comic Ultron. And that is what divides the two. The MCU Ultron made his impact by just being himself. The one thing I've always loved about AOU was Ultron himself. The way he acts, his one liners, his voice, and his actions. And how Spader sounded in other projects. He was perfect for the role not just because of his actions but because of how his voice sounds.

I generally don’t watch movies repeatedly, even if I liked them, so even though I liked Age of Ultron, until today I haven’t watched it in years and years. I almost completely forgot just how good Ultron is, and just how incredible James Spader is. And honestly, though basically all of Marvel’s characters are really cool, Ultron is probably still my favorite villain, period. Because of his _personality._ His one-liners, his ironic, dark, perfectly-timed humor, and his body language (thanks James Spader), all of it is so much more _interesting_ and full of personality than Thanos, than Hela, or even sometimes than Loki. He’s _just more interesting_ and more entertaining to me across-the-board!

I like the fact that despite detractors raging on how "James Spader's Ultron didn't impact much", while that is true in his own movie (to an extent), take a look at the bigger picture; his technology was being kept by Tony in Spider-Man: Homecoming, probably out of regret in his part creating him. The Sokovia Accords and the Avengers' resulting fallout caused the Civil War. And of course, his antics on Earth indirectly caused Thor (and later, the other Avengers) to become aware of the Infinity Stones and Thanos's involvement with them. And most importantly, James Spader finally got to be a true supervillain XD. He IS Ultron.

If I have one complaint about Ultron, it's that he's not as scary as his voice leads one to believe. I think part of that is his design, which was more haunting in the comics, and part of that is his overuse of jokes. He really needed to dial back the latter a bit, more specifically. Other than that, great video.

I think you are missing the whole point of Ultron in the first place. Ultron was never a villain unto himself. He is a reflection of the inherent danger in having super beings in the first place. The Avengers were formed to deal with external threats, things too big for normal run of the mill humans, such as the god Loki. Ultron's creation by Hank Pym (or Tony Stark in this case), and the hubris it represented showed that those fate has chosen to defend people against monsters, could themselves turn into the monsters they were created to destroy. It's the Batman question. Ultron represents the threat the very existence of the Avengers represents. Of course his story in the MCU took place within the context of a greater story. That is what Ultron is, a sideline in the plan, a rabbit hole in the story, and ultimately one of the greatest threats the avengers ever faced, because he just kept coming back. Every time an Avenger came up with a new great plan or idea, Ultron adapted it to himself and turned it into a threat. It's not going to be aliens or zombies that does us in. It will be the robots of our own creation. It will be our own hubris and ego that does us in.
