This made me think about how the average person who is out there happily living their lives usually isn't bothered by philosophical ruminations, or these "far out" ideas of the abyss and such. They even seem to have an instinctual resistance to the suggestion of them, from what I've seen at times. Really liked the ending summary you both made, was impactful 🖼

My favourite JTLB intro so far! Love Mike Oldfield! This video puts together something my own instincts have always known. Waking up inside the cave to notice the cave mouth behind you, as Steve said, is painful but gives you the chance to leave it to the open savanna. Grateful to have found this channel two years ago and to be a current student now, to learn and practice depth psychology and help others, as Steve and Pauline and James have helped me.

I’ve been feeling ‘bored’ because of the state of the culture here in Australia. I’ve recently lost my client, and now I’m bed ridden to my new adaptation to look for resources/security. It’s hard because of where I’m located now in Australia, where the world is open but now I don’t have any resources to go out and live. The instinctive pressure I’ve been feeling to steer myself away from philosophical ideas and more towards learning more about independence is thanks to you guys. My ego is ready to take action and get away from ideas 🙏🙏

Its strange how the title of this video is 'shadow on the wall'. Last year in August, when I was still deep in the cave, I had my own version of the 'black books', as you might recall, Steve. In the 6th and final black book in the beginning I make the decision to finally listen to my unconscious as if it was a stranger being and this set up a chain reaction of synchronicities and strange coincidences and twists, with the finale being the dissolution of a (now) 5-year old complex or at least the problematic parts of it (and me finally seeing the cave for what it is). But at the beginning of the book I drew a scribble of a mystical shadowy figure that resembled me but like a mysterious version of me standing in the night streets of a city, with the tone being a little 'dream-like'. The text to it was 'its a trick. a shadow on the wall'. I don't remember the exact context (I think it was about the nature of the unconscious or smth) but I know that I hadn't really heard of the trickster function at that point (i think the quote was 'inspired' or better, stolen from game of thrones, now that I think of it xD). But my unconscious seemed to know what it was doing when it inspired me to draw that scribble and write the text next to it into my diary. And, coincidence or not, about a few weeks later I remembered the first of many old feelings that I had forgotten about, plus the memory associated with it, which was the beginning of the end of the previously mentioned complex. And where did I receive that memory? Thats right. Walking at night down a street of Hamburg.

I had imagined that it was accepted Jungian thought that the shadows on the wall in Plato’s Cave was analogous to the projection of archetypes; that you can never see the archetype, but only its projection. So, I get that you take it a step further, to not get trapped in less clinical Jungian philosophy, to be in Jung’s Cave.

I even messaged it to someone yesterday, after I "somehow" got "banned" from their channel for no good reason, and got really paranoid, and upset. They hadn't banned me? Also. A shelf in my kitchen fell off the wall. It was like ten greek weddings, with all that plate smashing ! But my boyfriend said "Oh, its ok. It just means you will have good luck for the rest of your life. " he's so sweet. I was traumatised with all the crashing ! Agree with everyone here. I cannot thank you guys enough with all the insights you have provided on the years that I have been listening and watching your youtube channel. I always tried to test out all the ideas I tend to absorb from everywhere as what you have advised and it does help that I am able to discern my own thoughts to some extent, and in some way, manage to separate myself from these (though I tend to be cautious as it may get trickster-ish unless I am certain I've had a good look at it properly). It gets frustrating at times, and painful, but at times it makes me feel better as well. I would never have learned how to do things this way if not for you guys. Still a long way to go for me. Hi ᛅᛘᛁᛚ ᚴ , yes, it does, in Jung's own case, his theory and practice, were a direct result of the lived experience of his Personal Myth. That's its strength, and paradoxically, its weakness. Have u guys/girls heard of "The Hays Method"? I used it back in 2012 to immeasurable personal effect. Funnily enough it involves a "cave"-like process where you connect in darkness , or under a blanket , to your subconscious and make the pact to work together with it from there on in. Took me weeks to achieve it . An every day ritual. But it worked . Changed my life and brought intense synchronicitys into it. (If not ,it Unveiled what was already there) I found that the more I helped other people the more the synchronicitys came in hard and strong. That's not to say it wasn't easy. In fact , everything seemed to get harder, but it felt as though miracles happened along the way to help me overcome the trials . I personally think this should be taught in schools ...but I also think that the people who should use it are those in the highest office. Because right now we are at a planetary low point for inspirational leaders.

There was so much in this video but the word "comfort" jumped out a lot. I am seeing how seductive and womb-like the "comfort of ideas" can be. I can relate to the "discomfort of comfort" and how my seeking system can be easily lured by yet another juicy idea. Taking action in the world is not comfortable and often painful. But the discomfort of non-action - suffering - is worse. These videos do not provide such 'comfort' but rather are a call to action.
