Japan's population is plunging because they just went through 20 years of hellish economic depression, combined with chronic deflation which meant that wages didn't increase, during that time. People couldn't afford to raise multiple kids, even if they wanted to.

Japan is already overcrowded. They can stand to lose a large percentage of their population. They'll probably be happier with more land and larger apartments. The media always makes population decline into a bad thing, and promotes mass immigration as a solution to something that isn't even a problem to begin with.

SVAFnemesis This over working people is not only in Japan they do this to everyone who works at plants in Nebraska like box plants and meat cutting plants and egg processing plants. Their doing to my husband in Nebraska at rock ten and everyone else. They over work them to the point where they can't function sexually. Rock tens done this to my husband now he can't function for me sexually and it gets me so mad at that box company that makes boxes. He is practically the only one their now that their moving their company somewhere else in Nebraska. A lot of people have quit and are quitting before they go to the next place where the plant is moving to. They can't even keep people that long at that plant. Their always hiring because they over work people witch should be against the law doing this for anyone working at factories or anywhere because their is no family time and time for any loving with you're partner. I hate rock ten for making my husband impotent.

Well, just because those men are being exploited by the companies doesn't mean that the society isn't still male dominated. One aspect of it that makes it male dominated as that women want a job and a career but if they get married they'll still be expected to stay at home and take care of the kids. This happens in the US too but its becoming more common for both parents to also work. Another is the why crime - such as sexual assault - is treated. Japan made a change to its laws in 2017. A change to its law that was unchanged since 1907. Thats over 100 years. I think Japan is a male dominated society.
@gin3868
@gin3868 6 жыл бұрын
Its not really female standards, I find it to be mostly based on society itself, many boys shame each other for being weak and both genders often bully "weak" males which leads to trauma to fear others. It's happened to me as a female, the society isnt really caring for mental health and strictly enforces gender roles to the point where it becomes dangerous, too conservative.
@gin3868
@gin3868 6 жыл бұрын
go back to r/incels bud, the U.S. is nothing compared to Japan and the suicide rate. They just don't care and actually women there are only working cause they cant find men to marry, thats what the society taught them and the men that they had to follow gender roles or be failures and since its unreachable and people don't care about others feelings we're here

Anyone who thinks the shrinking population in Japan is a bad thing, has never lived in Tokyo. It's overpopulated beyond words, and real estate prices are out of control. A 30-40% reduction of population would bring a sigh of relief, and more sane real-estate prices, less crowding and less stress. Since when are those things bad?

The real problem is not because of humans ..There is a conflict between unseen aliens and humans ..it's two things that is not mixed together but unseen aliens are pushing humans to communicate with things that is not meant for them...Aliens should not feel ignored from humans and humans should not seek alien companion...But it's a reality shock that is not been talked in any where...Human with alien influences are stepping up to rule the normal human life's or control everything ...which makes people to be horrified to have children's or to live a decent life...we humans would all be farmers and that would be enough for human life's but the alien demons are making paper money to be the source of income to support and controlled people life's ..Either way we will all die one day and the only thing for people to worry should be what is next after death?

I still don't get why everyone is so horrified about shrinking populations and declining birth rates. All while we hear horrible stories, about how the planet, can't really sustain a human population at our current size and resource consumption rate. If humans are voluntarily subjecting themselves to population control, let them be. And still the best reason people give is (4:58) "We're going to disappear." You're not going to disappear. Bring it down just a little bit.

Technically, the race itself wouldn't go extinct, but Japan would not be the country with the largest ...human... Japanese population (by citizenship or ethnicity), if any at all. Which is really fine. Countries come and go, but the people of these countries live on else where, displaced in other countries. And honestly it is better this way because it encourages cultures to mix and blend and further creates a future where race and ethnicity matters less and less. Somehow... I think that robots would better support Japan's culture anyway since robots do not get tired.

Just for Fun the way of thinking is liberalism. This basically happened when the baby boom generation start changing the Western culture and the world's culture for that matter. The ideas people can be happy without families even though that's not very true generally speaking, and the roles of men and women have changed even though that has been a little over all insufficient we are still doing it. In short I personally think the fascist are right in many things. They even talk about this and even warned us about this and after the Allies defeat them here we are living it and now everyone especially their grandchildren are wondering what went wrong...

@APsupportsTerrorism

The thing is... it's not really a problem. Their population density got way out of control and the economy snapped back. This is a natural correction that is temporarily painful but necessary and inevitable. People aren't having children because there's no realistic future for them. When there's a future for those children and couples can be financially stable, they will have children again. I doubt the population ever goes under 100 million... people are smarter than fear-mongering like this gives credit. We witnessed a society self-regulating uncontrolled expansion. It's easy for a gynecologist born into money from a land-owning family to say other people need to have children when the economy is in a downturn and people are living in cubicle-sized apartments. The only reason the government sees this as a problem is because entitlements like Social Security are built as a Pyramid Scheme and the assumption that population will grow forever. That's a bad assumption, and it's those policies which need adjusting. Work on the economy, amend those social programs to not be a pyramid scam, and allow the population to adjust to a natural equilibrium ~100 million and it'll all be OK. In the short term, selective skilled laborer immigration (such as Panasonic did with Thai workers around 2011) to soften the blow and keep the pendulum from swinging too extremely.

The biggest problem I see Japan having to overcome is what to do with larger families. Right now, the young people, the ones that would be having children, can't see how they would ever afford a house to have that family in. The doctor is talking about his five kids and seven grandkids, great. Most of the young people can't see having a family of even one or two kids when they can't afford to move out of their 400 square foot apartment.

The economic bubbles Japan blew up in the 70s and 80s weren't prepared for their bursting in the 90s. Workers there now have the shortest holidays and the longest hours. You can't leave before the boss- even if your shift is done (Confucianism). Take home pay isn't enough to live in the big, expensive cities, and don't be shocked if you hear of young people literally being worked to death. So how do you meet and socialize to marry and have kids? Not a whole lot of time, and married Japanese women are still expected to stay at home and take care of house and kids, be damned those dual income necessities! Another part is the expectations put on high school and college students, you are expected to have impeccable grades that will get you into top schools and then into a top company. What can result from this stress? Look up hikikkomori. Is there anymore innovation in Japan, or has China taken that? You decide. Immigration isn't popular either (the nasty word "racism" will come up), as for interracial marriage in Japan, well as it turns out those couples are having more kids than Japanese couples are (my cousin included in that mix). But don't worry, PM Abe (the grandson of notorious rightists) is coming to the rescue... they got the 2020 Summer Olympics. Just as Sochi and Rio what big economic successes they were post-games.

Japan’s population is plunging because the Japanese are killing themselves, having a family can be a nightmare, when your not financially stable, and have to work so hard, something many developed states are having to tackle...and Japan is known from having distant family relations and a need to be so perfectly skilled to get a decent job... Which is why, states not use immigrants to bump up birth rates, and look for immigrants that have phenotypes that are similar and can be crafted so to speak,,,thus in Japan eventually they won’t know the difference between a someone of Asian decent from another Asian country, the same thing happens in the UK with European immigration..

People in the comments are all saying how sad this is when it's actually a sign of growing World affluence. World Health has even stated now that the 12 billion mark in world population Will never be reached because as more countries develop their populations stop having so many kids. They don't need to have 8 children hoping two will survive so they can live in the corner of one of their shacks when they get old. World poverty gets cut in half every 10 years now. This is a sign of how well the world is doing. The next step will be augmentation where we ourselves become more machine

@Manny B. Just watch the news and you might see that scientists can make a robot reproduce. It sounds like it would never happen, but there are many things I thought wouldn't happen, and so soon, come to pass. Maybe the traditional family of the future will consist of a male or female head of household a replaceable robot spouse, human children from the genes of the head of household and custom genetics from the robot, and maybe other replaceable custom robot co-inhabitants.

America's birth rate is starting to decline too. Everything's become so expensive that the people who want kids either can't afford it or simply don't have the time because of work. It's estimated by 2030 the elder population will be greater than the birth rate
@rsuriyop
@rsuriyop 4 жыл бұрын
Everything "becoming so expensive" is only part of the problem. What I'm seeing these days are too many different distractions as well as other things that weren't available back then that younger people would rather spend their money on instead of spending it mostly on the needs of a child. For instance, I literally just asked my cousin yesterday (who's been married for less than a year) if he wants to have child. His reply was simply that he'd "rather buy a PS5." So basically take away all of today's new tech that younger people are opting to rather spend their money on (i.e. smart phones, gaming systems, etc.) and I will guarantee you that a lot more them would be having more kids again.

But also, Japan has been an over populated place. In the 90's, they used to have 50% of the population of US, confined into a country that is only the size of state of California. That's why their houses are so small, there's no space. Now it has come down to 1/3 of the population of US. So it's more balanced.

men in jp are more shy esp the young ones. Men aren't just tired after work , being too tired for sex, they work LONG hours. The world's losing the culture and the 'sense' of what it means in traditional past of how family units are formed as well as the gender roles. There are videos of why there are no alpha males anymore as well. Ladies aren't ladies anymore, and men aren't men anymore, and the increase in LGBT particularly transgenders will only make things worse, not in their behavior but rather the skyrocketing of gender fluidity and confusion.

Icy Spark that's not quite true for the robot becoming more capable of human emotion every decade now in today's world almost unimaginable over a century ago back when the world was spending on new machines, arms, space age, then internet over that long. As far as robot, it's amazing how robots are capable as much as any human now. But it's interesting they're they're capable of developing human traits like emotion in today's world first thought up in America with Data in Star Trek the Next Generation; he's an android like today's robots in Earth's future in the 24th century eager to become more human in the show. The only question is, is that possible in today's world or perhaps in the future, like Ghost in the Shell in Japan's case? It's just my opinion, but I think the answer's becoming more practical in our present as both progress continues on the matter. I have some of my concerns here considering the potential dangers of robot sentience potentially harmful to humans if they threaten their robot creations; consider what happened in the in some of the famous sci-fi trilogies where machines revolted against man (The Matrix, Terminator, Battlestar Galactca,etc.) ; Because the created machines in the beginning of each trilogy were threatened by their human creators eventually driven to war to destruction and near-genocide of mankind as we know it today. Which means artificial intelligence today is progressively capable of causing harm as much as any average human that was an idea of the potential dangers of AI around the time Terminator/ Matrix was created. BUT unless we treat our robot creations today nicely, I don't think either scenario will play out unless we give AI a reason to; we'd be responsible for dooming ourselves if that were the case. Or maybe some becoming more willing to become more human like or Ghost in the Shell in perhaps best-case scenario far as Japan's robotics today. So whose to any future for robots today will become reality in the near future. We might even see a reality of Ghost in the Shell by then at best-case scenario. But I still have seldom concern of worse-case scenario being more like reality of the Matrix if we eventually negate our robot creations as nothing than than exploited machines like Part 1 of Second Renaissance in the Animatrix. (And I dare not mention what happened next in Part 2 gave me nightmares growing up because what mankind done to the machines in part 1..:( I'm not saying I don't trust or hate robots. Sure, I have my concerns sending robots in daily lives in the future, but it doesn't mean I'm capable of developing a relationship with one by then. If that were the case, I'd put aside my concerns for my robot companions and do what's right for him/her since I have a heart robot humans may be capable of developing in their own way by then. If that were the case, then I'm willing to give that chance since I'd be older and wiser by then than I am today. That's what I'd want for my robot companion in the future; a strong, caring, heart that's capable of developing a bond. Something to make it feel it's tendor cares for him/her and teach it anything like family. I honestly don't as much as faith in American robotics for that, but that may be possible for Japan's human robots i the future. It's common fact we only use a fraction the human brain capable of. Whose to say robots can learn as much we can now or surpass that in the future?

WESTERN aka European cultures do not live in balance with nature. How old is Earth? How long people were having sex or marriages>> non of the population exploded before except for Europe.. and they came to a world that was #pristine !!! THE NEW CAPITALISTIC system give a person 2 choices [ haves or have nots] if you are comfortable like young Japanese: a new child will burden your comfort zone. if you are uncomfortable poor like many 3rd world country: a new child bring another $$check ( similar to farmers with large families; that need a helping hand ] THE MAIN CAUSE OF POLLUTION ON THE PLANET: stems from the 3 Abrahamic religions that no dominate the globe.
