Starburst you are always looking out for everyone on the trail and you are always so happy at the same time. Sorry to hear that you were cold through the night, have you tried this Jen? Once you are in you're sleeping bag, stick your feet and sleeping bag into your empty rucksack, this will give you an extra layer to help keep your feet a bit warmer through the night.

Wow! Can't imagine Mowgli doing what he did with a lung problem. Quite the tribute to his father.

Another Starburst video!!! Wow! You just pump these bad boys out!!! The flats just below Forester are pretty awesome. Seeing peaks 360 degrees around you is pretty special. Loved the rock face, but you have to wonder what made the person actually see that to do it..... Keep on trekkin' Starburst!!! Soon it will be easy, big miles!

Take your socks off when crossing a stream, on the other side dry your feet and put your socks back on.

This time of year , given the gear you have you are dehydrated. First sigh of dehydration is being cold.

Any chance you took a few steps off the trail when you climbed up out of the Wallace Creek canyon? About 50 yds to the left of the trail is an amazing overlook of the Kern River Canyon and up into the Kern-Kaweah drainage. Bighorn Plateau is one of my favorite places, along with LeConte Canyon (which will be after Mather Pass and Palisade Creek). I am curious where you spent the night. There are a pair of ponds to the south of Tyndall Creek that was the most peaceful place I have slept (other than the frogs). I'm sure you are already past it, but I hope you kept your ice axe for Mather Pass, as it's usually a bit trickier than Forrester.

Looks like your feeling well! GO! Starburst. Good job taking time with Mogli, he needed your help. Those marmots, cutest critters. Be safe snow crossing.

It's so beautiful there, especially those high meadows and the alpine lakes. A pretty good return on the investment in the desert. No back complaints in this video, that's a good sign. Oh, that sunscreen color looks like blush. Maybe we have a new trend of backcountry makeup? haha

If you want to stay warm at night, forget the heating devices, strip down to your underwear and lose the socks. Put your morning clothes in the foot of your bag. You will be toasty warm in a couple minutes. I have slept this way down to -19F with success. Colder than that, you may want long johns and socks.
@joeschmoe40306 жыл бұрын
Yup, I have done the same thing in below freezing temps and been plenty warm, I can't explain it, but your body heat and the sleeping bag work better in combo w/out the layer of clothes in between.

Not sure how far behind your vids are from real life, but I think Mowgli is the same guy who was hiking with Night Crawler/Dann Hailey from the beginning. I know Dann said they had gotten separated a while back. They hiked the AT together too.

If you had a big doggie with you he would keep you warm and scare off the weirdos and bears. The downside is you have to carry the dog food.
@MountainFisher6 жыл бұрын
Dogs are not permitted in the back country of the national parks with good reason. If they are smaller dogs they attract predators, larger dogs also attract them and also often intimidate other hikers. One guy had two mean unleashed rottweilers in the Ansell Adams wilderness and they ran at the wrong guy who shot them. That was 1974.

Your second trail name could be " 😷 Nurse Jen." You could go off trail and go 😱😲😨"SKINNY-DIPPING!" On a finer note. When I depart from this WORLD I am being cremated and one of my grandson's will be scattering my ashes inside Boothill cemetery, Tombstone Az. (Over several graves). Shhhhh don't tell nobody, it will be our secret! LOL. 😁😊😂😄😉🎊🎉🎈🎈🎈
