They are delicious with a pot of beans and ham. Also had some just with butter. I may start making these regularly because I don't have to buy self-rising flour with this recipe.

Thank you, @Jenny Can Cook! The recipe I'd learned to make was really heavy on the lard AND butter because my late husband's family was who taught me, and boy, they LOVE their fats!! Not that I don't love the fats too, but not as much. Your version is more to my liking, but I'll probably keep to the full fat buttermilk, if I can find it. 😉 For some reason, skim milk, non fat yogurt, etc., seems to disagree with my stomach. Maybe something to do with how they de-fat the dairy? Who knows. But I REALLY appreciate your recipes, and how hard you work to develop them and make them easy to make. You're a treasure!! 🍭 🌼😍 🌺

The audience began to heckle him and you reminded your guest like the lady you are saying , " Everybody ,does not have the same opportunity ". You were very tactful and that has stuck in my mind when dealing with people since then . So- your show produced good fruit ! Thank you for that -it's made me a better person Alonzo
