Nice reaction, thanks for reviewing one of my favorite artists! The peculiarity of Marc is that he manages to recreate a complex song with the only help of his voice and an instrument, which can be the piano or the guitar or any of the instruments he can play. This cover does not confuse the listener because it seems that nothing is missing (the other voices and instruments of the band). Then, in addition to the resemblance to Freddie Mercury's voice, there are the nuances of "his" voice which make it extremely pleasant to listen to. His original music with the band Downhere is also very nice.

thank you for this fantastic breakdown & appreciation of & for marc!! he's truly one gifted vocalist...i've always said marc is honestly the consistently vocally healthy version of freddie; there's tons of queen fans who likely think it's sacrilege, but marc takes care of his voice & health in general, which unfortunately, freddie didn't do. in turn, i find marc's vocals to be far superior in consistency & the color/warmth of his tone...it's like hearing a prime '70s freddie all the stinking time, & no one oughta fault that! anyway, the man is blessed...& just plain gifted. all of his covers (queen or not) are excellent. marc's renditions of "unchained melody", "i will always love you", "karma police", & his mercurotti (nessun dorma sung as though a duet between pavarotti & freddie), are all exceptional. i'd love to see you appreciate any of those, or, if wanting another queen cover, the version of "under pressure" marc did live with the uqc, in which every member is located somewhere different & they all just came together & absolutely killed that song in one freaking take...it's madness.

@rockchic652 жыл бұрын
Of course Queen could choose who they wanted, they chose Adam for lots of reasons, they never wanted a soundalike and have said that over and over, it's a pity some of Marc's fans choose to perpetuate the myth they were somehow stuck with him and had no choice in the matter.
@papabearM32 жыл бұрын
@@rockchic65 Except, they chose Adam 3 full years before they met Marc! Also, they hired Marc for their legacy band off of his submission alone knowing very well that he will represent their music with excellence. Not to mention that Maylor were already under a contract with Adam when Marc appeared on their horizon.
@rockchic652 жыл бұрын
@@papabearM3 For the very last time (hopefully) there was no contract at that time, they did three songs with him in 2011, and off the back of the reaction to that they decided to get together for a festival, which was ultimately cancelled. They decided to do 2 shows in Europe and two in London, both extended to three, due to demand. It was 2013 before they did anything together again (one off I heart festival) and off the back off that they put a full tour together for 2014. At no point prior to 2014 were they in a position they couldn't have changed their mind and asked Marc to do a show or two, in fact they could literally have tried out several singers in 2011/2012 or even 2013 before deciding on a singer if that's what they wanted. Bands like Queen don't get held to ransom by a guy who they briefly met on a talent show and thought "we'd like to maybe do a bit of something with you in the future" as a one off, which is how they all described those initial shows. They even described their 2014 tour as a one off event that wouldn't be happening again, presumably they didn't realize just how much people would want to see them.
@papabearM32 жыл бұрын
@@rockchic65 Hopefully, you understand that NO PROJECT EVER goes forward without a proper contract in place. By the time May met Marc, rehearsals for the mini-tour that was announced earlier were in full swing. Stop arguing matters you don’t understand.
@rockchic652 жыл бұрын
@@papabearM3 The winners of QEX were announced in Dec 2011, at that point they had done the EMA performance in Nov, so no contract was in place since the contract was for that performance only. They were announced as the headliners of Sonisphere in Feb 2012, which would take place in July, it got cancelled and they decided to do the shows in Ukraine and London instead, also announced in Feb. Brian knew about Marc by that point whether they'd already met or not. The tour wasn't starting until 30th June after 10 days rehearsal. Brian appeared on Idol with QEX in April 2012, so even if he hadn't met Marc before that day (unlikely) he'd seen the auditions and the stuff with Roger in Dec in LA, and he'd certainly met him in April. You're the one arguing when it's very obvious they could easily have asked Marc or any other singer if they wanted to after the EMA's, they certainly could have changed their mind after Sonisphere got cancelled, they had no need to find other venues for a tour if they didn't want to. The fact remains they waited after Idol for Adam to tour his own music so they could give things a go, they liked him and despite hearing Marc they still wanted to work with Adam, no surprise considering they've never once wanted a soundalike to tour with. What is it with Marc's fans they can't accept that basic fact? Brian & Roger don't get held to ransom by singers, they could have pulled the plug at any time during their collaboration, they've all said their contracts are for each tour as a standalone, so any one of them could walk away after each tour.

Like Todd mentioned, Roger Taylor didn't know of Marc until they had already started performing with Adam, but he was still impressed by Marc's voice and musical talent to hire him for the Queen Extravaganza band and recommend him for providing additional vocals for the Bohemian Rhapsody film. By being part of a different band, Marc and his bandmates can perform a tribute to Queen's music in other parts of the world and when Roger and Brian are not on tour.

“Real Queen fans”? 😂 Many of us who actually saw Freddie live with Queen know that Adam is the perfect person to honor him. They met Marc in 2011, but didn’t contract with Adam to tour the world until 2014. There was plenty of time to hire Marc if they wanted to. “Real fans” know that they honor Freddie’s vision for the band with singers like Paul and Adam. "When the whole point of Queen was to be original." Freddie Mercury A few comments from real Queen fans: Joe Elliott (Def Leppard) Queen "For me the absolutef highlight of last Saturdays show at the 3Arena in Dublin was Queen and Adam Lambert playing that song. (WWTLF) Unbelievable. The lights, the lasers, the sound, the performances of everybody on stage was absolutely top notch. If you haven't got a ticket yet, go see these guys. Legends of course we all know that. Adam Lambert will be the first to stand up and say he's no Fred, but my goodness one of the best live vocals I've ever heard. And Rick Savage who was sat next to me said exactly the same thing. Was Adam Lambert last week in Dublin." I saw #Queen with #FreddieMercury at The Spectrum in Philadelphia back in the summer of 1980...a show and memory I will never forget! Have to say tho, I was even more blown away with the #QAL #RhapsodyTour Show! Freddie would be proud of #AdamLambert , #BrianMay & #RogerTaylor!💗 I saw Freddie's Queen and I've seen Queen with @adamlambert . BOTH men are extraordinary, phenomenal, other-worldly vocalists and performers...in completely different ways. Those that hate on Adam because he isn't Freddie have clearly never seen him do what he does. I was lucky enough to see Freddie sing, was unsure as to what to expect, in short was blown away, fantastic gig & am sure Freddie would be proud to have you continue the Queen legacy, have fun tonight My first concert was Queen at Slane Castle in ‘86. Saw Queen with Adam Lambert last year. You are in for a treat, enjoy! Saw Queen with Freddie 1975 Christmas Eve, tonight with Adam Lambert. Both incredible shows fronted by incredible showmen. Messrs May and Taylor constants of course. @DrBrianMay @OfficialRMT @QueenWillRock @adamlambert wow!! That gig will live in my memory forever, I was at Knebworth in 1986, miss Freddie’s voice so much, so happy you guys found each other! Thank you! #matchmadeinheaven I was fortunate enough to see Queen with Freddie twice. I have never seen anyone play to an audience like him. He was never afraid to take chances. I got lucky, and saw Queen with Adam live recently, and my jaw dropped. What a killer show they put on. Go see it! I've been going to see Queen live since 1978 but @DrBrianMay, @adamlambert and @OfficialRMT last night in Glasgow was phenomenal. Thank you!!!!! Hey mate, the bloody game was called off! Anyway we moseyed on up the toon, I’m just in actually after a 12.30 start, great day out. Queen were terrific mate,m I’ve been lucky enough to see Freddie Mercury in the 8O’s and Adam Lambert to his credit was a great front man 30 years since I have seen Queen and this was just brilliant! @adamlambert Freddie would be so proud Having not seen Queen without Freddie until now - I’m so pleased that I saw them @TheO2 with Adam Lambert last evening. It was one of the most incredible shows I’ve seen. Adam Lambert doesn’t attempt to replace Freddie but pays great tribute to his memory - an honour You know you loty Queenies....we make people rich. Told my relatives not to expect any monies upon my death because I am throwing it all at Adam and Queen. Saw Freddie 5 times have to say this time around is twice the fun. Fellow Canadians at the bar who had seen Queen with Freddie have to admit Adam's range far surpasses Freddie's. Guy beside me had seen Freddie 3 times, Paul Rodgers 2 times. LOVED @adamlambert Lots of OMGs, phenomenal & wows. Told you, I said. I last saw Queen in 1986 at Wembley London, Freddy was awesome back then. I was happily surprised by Adam Lambert... boygeorgeofficial Went to see @adamlambert performing with #Queen in Sydney and it was fabulous. Adam’s voice is astounding and he does not need to apologize for not being Freddy Mercury. Adam brings his own flavor to those timeless songs and he is a wonderful artist in his own right. Loved the glittering 70s platforms. Brian singing ‘love of my life’ was beautiful. No need to apologize Brian you bring beauty and vulnerability to my fave Queen song! Roger on ‘It’s A Kind Of Magic’ was also full of feeling. Very Bowie-esque and I loved the drum solos and Brian’s axe lamenting. It was a night with everything. GO you will live for it! @adamlambert I saw queen 5 times 77-86. Saw u with the guys in 2014 and again on Wednesday in Sydney. U enhance their brilliance and it is just as enjoyable watching them now as it was with Freddie.credit to you. Haha my dad a massive Queen fan. My parents saw Freddie live. Yes Freddie not Freddy. Now considers @adamlambert as “Freddie’s heir apparent”. Was stunned by his performance. This is Adams legacy

1. No one is Freddie but Freddie, you really don't have to say that. 2. Yes, Freddie was one of, if not the greatest, frontmen ever. 3. I'm glad you got to see Freddie. 4. Marc has no desire to replace Freddie. He refuses to grow a mustache or dress like Freddie. He does honor Freddie by bringing his music alive again as no one else on earth can.

Marc is not an impersonator, but he does subtlety imitate Freddie throughout his concerts. Many of Freddie’s mannerisms are duplicated by Marc when he performs Queen’s music. Brian and Roger thought Adam Lambert was a better representation and interpreter of Queen’s music which is why they chose him and put Marc in the tribute band. I agree that no one will ever replace Freddie and Adam does too. He honors Freddie rather than trying to imitate the inimitable. "There's never going to be another, and I'm not replacing him. That's not what I'm doing. I'm trying to keep the memoryg alive, and remind people how amazing he was, without imitating him. I'm trying to share with the audience how much he inspired me." "To me @QueenWillRock is Freddie and I am a guest,” ---Adam Lambert

@@sasha07775 Apart from a nod to Freddie and raising his fist up ONE time during a 2hr show, Marc does not make an effort to imitate Freddie at all. His mannerisms are his own. He is too busy delivering the music and running around that stage just having fun! Besides, he naturally resembles Freddie “in voice and in presence,” according to Brian May. Adam better represents May, or rather PRESENTS May. He IS Freddie’s replacement, but not a very good one, if you ask me. He is a non-musician cover singer. He is where he is ONLY because of May’s ego. Everything that comes out of Adam is contrived and amiss when Freddie is concerned. Marc represents Freddie and his music better than ANYONE on this planet, which makes him one in 7.7 billion.
